Which Digimon Season Should I Buy

What order do the digimon series go in?

It's:

Season 1 - Digimon Adventure (the one with Tai/Taichi and co.)
Season 2 - Digimon Adventure 2 (the one with Davis/Daisuke and co.)
Season 3 - Digimon Tamers (the one with Takato and co.)
Season 4 - Digimon Frontier (the one with Takuya and co.)
Season 5 - Digimon Savers/Digimon Data Squad (the one with Marcus/Masaru and co.)

What is your favourite Digimon season, and why?

For me, it’s a toss-up between Frontier and Savers/Data Squad. I like Frontier for it’s unique take on the concept and the Ten Legendary Warriors are some of my favorite Digimon in the franchise. Data Squad felt like a back to basics Digimon series, taking some of the best elements of Adventure and Tamers and refining them. Also, Data Squad has what is probably my favorite Digimon protagonist.

What is the plot of Digimon? And, how is it different from Pokémon?

Basically, Pokémon live in the same world as humans, whereas Digimon (Digital Monsters) exist in a different world, called the Digital World, and is made of data.Digimon's 7 anime series so far have different plots; only the first (Adventure), second (Adventure 02), and the latest ongoing one (Tri) actually have the same universe. The other ones (Tamers, Frontier, Data Savers, and Xros Wars) have different stories and characters, and while I'm not sure how, some say that all worlds are somehow connected. At least for the Adventure series, a group of chosen kids, called the Digidestined, are mysteriously sent to an unknown world to save it with the help with their Digivices and Digimon partners. (You should watch the anime!)There's a ton of differences between Pokémon and Digimon, really. You only have one Digimon partner (except in Frontier where you are the Digimon) and you don't really get to choose, unlike in Pokémon. Also, not all humans are aware of the existence of Digimon and the Digital World. The stories are typically about saving the Digital World from destruction and mankind along with it since the two worlds are connected. While Ash and friends save the world as well in the Pokémon series and movies, Pokémon revolves more around Ash's adventures and “becoming the very best.”P.S. I like both, but the Digimon anime will always be much more memorable for me.P.P.S. Just to add, while Ash never seemed to have aged since the first episode aired 20 years ago, Digimon's latest season Tri was made as part of Digimon's 15th anniversary. The story takes place 3 years after Digimon Adv. 02, which takes place 3 years after the original Adventure series. (You really should watch the Anime!)

digimon is the bomb. I've watched it since I was a kid and it's still pretty cool. not as good as star trek or fringe or regenesis but I wouldn't mind having it in my collection

What order should I watch Digimon?

Start with the last episode and work backwards.

Is Digimon Tamers the best of all anime Digimon serials?

Yes. Not only was Tamers by far my favourite season of the franchise, re-watching it as an adult led me to believe that it is actually one of the best kids’ TV shows of all timeI used to be a massive Digimon fanatic when I was growing up in Japan. Between the ages of 7 to 10, most of my energy (and pocket money) was spent on Digimon. I woke up every Sunday morning to watch the cartoon at 9 am. I went to the cinema to see every Digimon movie spin-off. I collected hundreds of Digimon cards. I even went to Digimon card game events to play with other kids.Among the four seasons that I watched as a kid (Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier), the season that had the most impact on me was the third. After recently re-watching it for the first time since I saw it on TV as a 9 year old, I was stunned by the emotional and thematic depth of the show. Here are some of the reasons why I prefer Tamers over other seasons:Instead of having 8 (Adventure) or 6 (Adventure 02) pairs of children and their Digimon partners, the show focused primarily on 3 pairs: Takato and Girumon, Ruki and Lenamon, and Jiang and Terriermon (Japanese version names). This not only allowed the show to spend more time to develop each main character, it had an assortment of interesting supporting characters of both humans and Digimon who the creators of the show were not obliged to focus too much of their attention on.A much more realistic, likeable main cast. Takato, the protagonist, is unlike Taichi and Daisuke in that he’s constructed as a ‘typical 11 year old boy’. He doesn’t possess natural leadership skills. He’s shy around girls and frequently shows anxiety. He often gets into trouble at school. Takato was balanced out by the much more earnest Jiang, a computer nerd who often struggle to comply with his own pacifist principles. The show has a much darker tone. Although many of the themes explored in Tamers can be found in the other seasons, the third takes them much further. It deals head-on with topics like the traumas of losing a parent as a child, the crippling sense of fear that a parent undergoes when their child is missing, being raised by a single mother, and so on. In some ways, the show has a tone (and a plot) that is quite similar to Stranger Things. At the time of the show, I happened to be living in a neighborhood adjacent to the part of Tokyo (Nishi-Shinjuku) where much of the show took place. Many of the locations were very familiar to me.

Is digimon frontier worth watching?

I’d say so. Its probably the series that showed the group growing together the best (though Adventure and Tamers were no slackers in that department) and it had decent character development in general. Tonally and in setting and plot conventions, it’s clearly meant to be reminiscent of the original Adventure, while still keeping it’s own unique style. And out of the original four series, it probably had the best choreographed fight scenes. But it’s certainly not without its own problems. It was plagued with several pointless filler episodes (while a few of them were enjoyable, most of them weren’t), and the whole Royal Knights saga got extremely repetitive. It also lacks a lot of the nuance of Adventure and Tamers. All in all, i’d call it the third best season of Digimon.
