What was your best New Years Eve?
Yesterday.My parents live in a small town named Trichy in Tamil Nadu. My sister got married a few years back and went off to live in the Middle East. I was studying in Bangalore for about 2 years and then got a job in Chennai. I currently stay in a 1-BHK apartment in Chennai all by myself.As such, 'family get-together' happened only over Skype. My sister also has a cute little daughter, who loves spending time with Thaatha and Paati (My mom and dad). She had been asking to visit her grandparents' home since a long time. So imagine everyone's excitement when my sister announced that she was pregnant a second time. She came to stay in India for an extended period of 6–7 months along with my little niece. For those who don’t know, it's the regular practice in India for women to stay with their own mothers during pregnancy. I had been visiting my parents’ home as much as possible (On weekends) just to catch up with old times.Fast forward to yesterday night, all of us were gathered around the dining table. My niece was dressed up and poised to cut a fresh cream cake with “Happy 2018” written on it. My dad was counting down to 12:00 AM, my sister was busy taking photos of everyone, while my mom watched on. Just a few seconds to the New Year, my niece looked up and said “I'm so happy everyone is here with me right now.” Soon, she was rushed into cutting the cake, we all clapped and then took to eating it while watching the fireworks go off outside.But that one moment stuck with me. No matter what you achieve, no matter how much money you earn, no matter how famous you get, all of it is worth nothing if you don't have loved ones to share it with. I always had this in the back of my mind, but it took a surprising reminder from my little niece to jolt it back to reality: Family is everything.
What should I wear on new year party as I dont wear western dresses?
You can wear a fitted jeans (I hope you wear jeans) with a kurti, just like anushka did in the breakup song (adhm), you will look super smart. If you don’t wear jeans then you can wear jeggings also on denim colour. Match it up with some kajal, lip gloss, ear rings and be confident, ofcourse a nice pair of flats, loafers or stilletoes.Or you can wear, a pallazo- bright solid colour (preferably) and a top or short kurti even. But top would be more preferable, if you don’t wear short top, then wear a long one, and just tuck it. You will definitely look smart and ready for the party, with the above mentioned accessories. btw in england we call it fancy dress not a 'costume party' smart **** and also you can go as... superman and supergirl robin hood an the damsel in distress or monica and chandler or jack and kate from lost or eskimos or wife and husband or dorothy and the tin man/scarecrow a princess and a prince or shrek and fiona or posh and beck that way you get to go out and buy a gorgeous dress that you can wear again !!
