Can I make my own e-liquid brand using flavors bought from a non-vaping company?

Making your own E-juice is becoming very popular in vaping circles worldwide. (mainly because it’s fun, and also cheaper than commercial purchase).Finding recipes is easily achieved online and the two diluents (Veggie Glycerine and Propylene glycol) are easily and cheaply from your local chemist.The most difficult ingredient to find -from a non vaping supplier-is the nicotine, (because in it’s pure form it’s highly poisonous, so heavily regulated). When diluted, not so much. When seriously diluted (like in E-juice) almost innocuous.The flavourings can be a problem to source as they’re mostly used by industrial manufacturers so not easily available to ‘small’ buyers in -to the sellers- minute quantities.Making your own brand is of course quite easy but making it popular will depend on a few factors, how many people like your recipe, whether your price is ‘right’, whether you packaging looks adequate, and of course whether enough people trust you enough not to inadvertently poison them because you didn't know what you were doing.As for needing “tobacco’ in that mix, vapers don’t need to use any tobacco whatsoever, most vapers (like me) are actually coming off it. (One manufacturer I know in the States is even splitting the old lower rates of 9,6 and 3 down to 6, 4.5, 3 and 1.5 mg)Which is why ‘Big Tobacco’ (in the States) are so vehemently against vapers and are paying millions to people to introduce laws in order to over-regulate them, (always, follow the money).Whereas in the UK, vapers are supported for what they’re really doing; applying NRT, (Nicotine Replacement Therapy), because nicotine is only ‘addictive’ when delivered through the cigarette medium, i.e. when it’s mixed with the 6000-odd other chemicals and compounds in a cigarette. Whereas when nic is delivered via an E-Cig liquid, it’s rendered as addictive -some say even less so- than the caffeine in coffee.Consequently, far far easier to give up altogether.

Can you use anything other than e-liquids for a vape pen?

Vape Pens are designed for one thing only, and that is e-juice that is 50/50 PG/VG or thereabouts. That’s e-juice that is more liquid than syrup. Pure VG has a viscosity that is similar to maple syrup.You can’t put water in there without it leaking out. You can add pure VG but you will gum up the wick and coils, as the stuff is syrupy and that vape pen won’t be able to vaporize it easily. Some won’t vaporize it at all.If you want, get two bottles. One pure PG, the other pure VG. Make a 50/50 mix of both. There’s not going to be any flavor, but your atomizer will handle the mix much better.

Can you mix e-liquids?

Oh absolutely! One must just be a little circumspect when doing so, although taking the odd risk with flavours can also be fun.(As in life) Cream with pretty much anything is usually good but finding a pure cream with no other flavours already added is not that easy.I find that our ‘Coffee’ mixes with a surprising number of flavours, our ‘Blackberry’ for example. Some mixes are easy of course, our ‘Bun’ with our ‘Coffee’ or alternatively our ‘Cookie’ were both ‘givens’.I would suggest sticking with the same brand, as most brands usually stick to the same base, also rather keep to the same diluant ratio, (the PG/VG mix).Mix & matching can really extend and enhance your vaping pleasure, as chasing one’s personal ‘All Day Vape’ via purely stock flavours can be very expensive and time consuming.So go ahead & mix away, I know I do, just don’t blow too much juice mix on a full 5 ml tank in case it doesn’t work out for you, or get yourself a small (say 2ml) tank like a Veco (Tarot Nano kit) or a Melo 3 and swish your mix around a little after warming it slightly (to make it thinner).Happy mixing.

You don’t have to be a big vaping company. I make my own flavors all the time. For example what I’m vaping right now is a mix of organic banana and blueberry cheesecake flavor. Add in VG with a bit of nicotine and voila, I’ve made my own e-juice.Anybody can get a bunch of different flavors. If you’re willing to vape artificial flavors (I’m not), then you have even more freedom of creativity.The vast majority of ejuice makers source their flavors from other companies (often food flavorings). Why does e-liquid get dark? How can I avoid this?

Well first of all there are two different aspects of this problem, does the e liquid turn dark in your tank, or does it turn dark in the e liquid bottle?Dark e-liquid in your tankIf the problem of the dark e liquid comes after the e liquid has been in your tank for a while, the problem can be both the e liquid and the coil. If the cotton in your coil is burnt, it may turn the rest of the e liquid darker, this should affect the flavour greatly, and isn’t hard to tell, as you can simply take a look at the coil, and if it is very brown or black, it needs to be changed.The change of color can also be because the juice gets oxidized, but also if the juice gets heated, the sugary components in the e liquid will gunk up and after some time build up a lot of biproducts that stay in your tank. You can solve this problem by cleaning your tank once in a while, but also try to buy some other juice. If your juice contains a lot of sweetener, your coil will last a shorter time, and eventually be filled with all this residue from the e liquid.A simple rule: The darker the e liquid, the shorter time your coil will lastDark e-liquid in bottleIf your e liquid is dark in the bottle, before you stick it in your tank, this can be because of two things. As you can see, my e liquids color can vary a lot. The darkest e liquid in the front is coco crunch, then altar of rose, vanilla, coffee and cantaloupe. So if you want clear e liquid, is suggest you stick with fruity flavours, as they tend to be the clearest category.
