Is it reliable to send a mobile phone from Bangalore to Mumbai/Pune by a courier service in India?

Yes! It is safe to send mobile or any other expensive electronic item through courier.Although there have been some cases where such items were lost in the transit, and even I was worried about it. To avoid any such financial loss, choose insurance option when booking your parcel. All the major courier companies have insurance option.I will share my recent positive experience. After too much thinking over how should I send a brand new redme note4 mobile safely from Bangalore to Kutch(Gujarat) and evaluating several options like speed post, premium courier services like DHL/BLUEDART or normal courier service like DTDC, I decided to check with BLUEDART and DTDC. I also refer other Quara members’ responses to this post.I inquired with BLUEDART and they told that it will be minimum of Rs 3K, I was shocked to here that 3K shall be required to transport a 11K mobile. Then I went to DTDC and there they told that shipment cost would be Rs 300 and insurance would be 2% of mobile cost which was 11K (2% of 11k = 220), so the total cost is 300+220=520.I thought it was OK to go this way as if shipment is lost in any case whole mobile cost shall be claimed. There are some guidelines to insure the mobile as mentioned below and to be mentioned on insurance form provided at DTDC centre.IMIE numbers of both SIMsBattery serial number (if it is not an inbuilt battery)Mobile serial numberMobile Bill CopySo it is necessary to show the mobile phone to courier centre to prove it is really a mobile in the box and anyways all other above mentioned details are mandatory for insurance. Also, DTDC gave me a plastic secure-cover (as a outer envelop) which was mandatory to take and its cost was Rs20. The address has to be written on this cover only, so no need to pack your parcel tightly otherwise you have to reopen that as I did in my case ;) .It took 3 days (Friday to Monday) to get the parcel delivered to my friend. :)I hope my experience will help you sent valuable items like mobile/laptop by courier.
