What is the best country to migrate to as a pharmacist?

It’s not long since I moved to Germany. I’d say, it’s really nice to work as a pharmacist here.My homeland, Greece, on the other hand… Unless you want to work for up to 60 hrs every week for a monthly payment of around 700 euros, just stay away.I’d say there is no best or worst country to work specifically as a pharmacist. The working conditions are either bad for everyone on great. As a pharmacist, you will most likely get paid more than average, no matter where you choose to work.

Well yes it has to be United States of America for MS in Pharmaceutical Science but as you might have already found out the college fees are exorbitant and cost of living is pretty high as well. While other options UK, Canada and Australia are very good too but they too are expensive and do not give a good return on the investment unless you become a resident of that country.A few German and Belgian universities provide free post graduate education but their medium of instruction is not English. In India the top colleges are NIPER, Manipal, Jamia Hamdard, Poona college of pharmacy and Nirma are the best options. Pharmacies in spanish speaking countries versus in the united states?

Sip, de acuerdo con mmaster; ah! yeap; english...

I'm latin-American, the last anwser is your European description; but with no offense, but medicines here sucks, or well, because I'm poor and medicines we really need are really expansive... so when I get sick I use my gradma remedy, some tea and lemons... we're not rich, and it's common for our family to surpass illnesses just waiting.

The problem is that the medicines comes from others countries and are not made here, so they are expansive, exept maybe some who are made here but just to recover from flu or vitamins; we need real medicaments that should be made here... I can't belive that we need about 50$ just in some medication we need every month, only for one person.

Well, now you need the Poor Spanish answer and the Rich Latin answer.

Why don't pharmacists get as much respect in India like other foreign country

For starters, Pharmacists in USA are PROFESSIONALS. Note: I can only speak about USA.By merely getting a Bachelors degree / Masters or PhD in Pharmacy in USA, you are NOT termed as a Pharmacist. After obtaining your degree, you MUST pass a very, very tough REGISTRATION exam for a particular State. This entire process takes 3 years. ONLY after you become a REGISTERED PHARMACIST can you work in a Pharmacy as a Pharmacist. Otherwise, you are no better than a high school graduate working as an assistant in the pharmacy!!Secondly, it is the duty of the Pharmacist to ensure that the doctor has prescribed the correct medication. It is his / her duty to ask the patient about the problem, medications being taken by the patient currently, etc. If the Pharmacist believes that the doctor has prescribed an incorrect medication, it is the duty of the Pharmacist to call the doctor and request the doctor to change the medication. If a Pharmacist dispenses an incorrect medication causing a drug interaction, the patient can sue the doctor and the Pharmacist. In short, unlike India, under NO circumstance will a Pharmacist dispense a prescription drug (medicine) without a prescription in USA. A Registered Pharmacist MUST be present in the pharmacy at all times to ensure correct medication is dispensed by the pharmacy. As you can see, the role of a Pharmacist in USA is far different than the one in India. Salaries of Pharmacists in USA too are much, much higher than the ones offered in India.Hope this gives you a decent idea of the Pharmaceutical profession in USA as opposed to India!!

How to become an expat pharmacist in France or England?

To be a phamacist in either of these countries there are criteria which are determined at European level, as well as specific residence and work visa requirements for each.

Studies for Pharmacy in France are extremely proctracted and demanding.
A chemistry degree would be insufficient to practice Pharmacy in France.
Also holding a Diploma of Technician would not be a qualification that would be considered sufficient to obtain a work and residence visa in France. You would have to be a fully fledged Pharmacist and be totally fluent in French. It is not a profession where you can make errors due to misunderstanding of the language., and the language used in French pharmaceutical studies and for dispensing is French. Added to which drugs may be quite different in France since they may be made by French companies.

To become a Pharmacist in France you have to have a Doctorate in Pharmacy and an additional diploma in your speciality. Studies take a minimum of six years after passing the school leaving certificate (Baccalauréat scientifique) but more usually nine.
There are three cycles of study. The first two last two years at the end of which there is a competitive examination Numerus Clausus, after which only 25% students are retained and one can anly have two goes at sitting it .
Once one has passed the final diploma one starts at the bottom of the pile as assistant / technician and work one's way up.

If you have a Doctorate in Pharmacy and are able to speak and write French totally fluently, you could apply to the "Ordre des Pharmaciens" and ask for your American qualifications to be recognised. Without their endorsement one cannot practise in France.

To practise in the UK, at least there would not be a language barrier, but you still would have to satisfy British and European criteria.
To find the British criteria you can read them for yourself in English on this website:

I hope this is helpful.
