Which Events In History Were Televised On Every Tv Channel At Once

What is the most watched television event in history?

Princess Diana's funeral was a big contender.

Wiki says:

There are no exact figures available for global television events.
However, a report by IPG media agency Initiative Worldwide stated that the 2006 FIFA World Cup was the most-watched sporting event of that year with an average 1.2 billion viewers per match [31].

Such statistics have, however, proved controversial, failing to stand up to scrutiny [32], and audience figures cited in billions are practically unverifiable.

It is popularly believed that the British TV show Top Gear is one of the most watched shows around the world. It is broadcast in 117 countries and is purportedly watched by up to one billion people.[33]

The funeral of Princess Diana was watched by an estimated 2.5 billion people.[34]

The 2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony from the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing, China was watched by an estimated four billion viewers worldwide.

Do you think it's terrible that some sports channels still have commercial breaks in the middle of broadcasting a live motor racing event like Formula One?

I currently live in the USA so I have to deal with NBCSN’s coverage of F1. The amount of commercials is absolutely absurd, There are commercials at least every fifteen minutes, and sometimes (like during the Australian grand prix) They had commercials every 5 minutes. Now, I know that F1 isn’t that big in the USA and that most of the races are in the middle of the night, so they need to make that up with more commercials to make it profitable for them. The coverage of Sky Sports F1 in the UK is absolutely top class and I really enjoyed watching it when I lived there.

I need a list of channels that dont have scary commercials on them?

Looks like you got some good Answers already.

I think it's a very cool Question, and it brought to mind something I hadn't pondered:

With all the V-Chip technology (parental locks and TV content rating systems & filters) built into modern TV's and cable boxes, the main program content gets filtered by the chip, but "what about the commercials?" Makes ya think!

I'll bet economic pressures kept the advertising content from having to be mandatorily rated and electronically "tagged" like the TV shows are required to be.

So, theoretically, you could have a TV-G program airing, with a horror-movie trailer-ad during one of the commercial breaks.

Thanks for posing the Question!

Who inveted the television?

The origins of what would become today's television system can be traced back to the discovery of the photoconductivity of the element selenium by Willoughby Smith in 1873, and the invention of a scanning disk by Paul Gottlieb Nipkow in 1884.

The German student Paul Nipkow proposed and patented the first electromechanical television system in 1884. Nipkow's spinning disk design is credited with being the first television image rasterizer. Constantin Perskyi had coined the word television in a paper read to the International Electricity Congress at the International World Fair in Paris on August 25, 1900. Perskyi's paper reviewed the existing electromechanical technologies, mentioning the work of Nipkow and others. The photoconductivity of selenium and Nipkow's scanning disk were first joined for practical use in the electronic transmission of still pictures and photographs, and by the first decade of the 20th century halftone photographs were being transmitted by facsimile over telegraph and telephone lines as a newspaper service.

However, it wasn't until 1907 that developments in amplification tube technology made the design practical." More at source. . .
P.S. The above answer is right also.

Is the new show Chasing Mummies on history channel fake?

Its fake the interns are actors. the camera shots in the cave when the girl gets stuck are from in front of her and behind her. You do not see the camera man in either of the shots so they had to have done it twice.

Why is the National Anthem not televised before each NFL game?

Unfortunately for the avid fan who wants to see the anthem and the team's entrance onto the field, the powers that be, aka the networks and NFL owners; are more interested in how many commercials they can squeeze into a TV break. Notice the TV timeouts have been getting longer too. This is all part of the marketing of the NFL lable. The owners have a goal to get yo 25 billion in revenue by the year 2025 I beleive and they are losing ratings currently so they have to make it up in TV money. This is the first year in a while I can remember the NFL having ratings trouble. At first I attributed it to election coverage and they did rebound somewhat after the election. But they still lost viewers this year. The networks don't care about the fans. By their Outlook, if you want to see the pageantry, buy a ticket and go to the game. The only time you see the anthems any more is when it's a playoff game and someone big sings it. And quite disrespectfully I might add. It seems like the anthem singers these days are more interested in showing off their voice range that showing respect for their country. It's almost like they're auditioning. That is one thing I will give the NHL. All the networks that covers hockey, do show the anthems both American and Canadian.

Are TV commercial breaks between similar channels synchronized to run at about the same time?  If so, how is this done?

It depends where in the world you are watching there are rules of thumb over the frequency and duration of commercial breaks. For example in the US the early parts of the show are longer and the breaks shorter to promote audience engagement. As the show progresses the frequency of the breaks increases as does the duration because the audience has bought in to the show and will stay to the end.In Europe the same logic applies although regulators in some countries have rules on the amount of time between breaks. In the UK for example at least 20 minutes must elapse between the start of one break and the start of the next. There is no such rule however for the position of the break at the end of a programme.Given that all commercial broadcasters follow these sorts of rules then if you hop channels it could be observed that they will be on a break at more or less the same time.
