How to make peanut butter using a Bamix immersion blender and the dry\wet attachment?

I was trying to make peanut butter in the dry\wet grinder attachment, it says in the manual it turns peanuts into peanut butter but all I got is fine grounded nuts and not butter, I was wondering what is wrong? at certain point the blade would not continue to grind the nut particles more into the necessary buttery form...

also I was trying to make tahini(sesame seed pate) from raw sesame seeds but again it only cut the seeds to small particles without extracting the oil from them, what should I change?

thanks a lot

Can an immersion blender grind coffee beans?

Blades and Beans don't mix! Besides the fact that you are wanting to use a blender to grind beans, you should never use anything with blades to grind your coffee...that would be cutting your coffee. What a blade grinder cannot do is create equal sized grinds. You need what's called a burr grinder for that. They cost a bit more, but they are worth it!

Can i make peanut butter using an immersion/stick blender?

None of these items you mention are ideal for a stick blender. The only perfect use for an immersion blender is pureeing a hot food such as a soup...it is safer because it saves you transferring to a blender, and the steam can escape the open pot rather than blowing the lid off a pitcher blender. Another distinct advantage of a stick blender is that you can move the blade to keep the food from getting stuck.

A quick tutorial:

For sauces and drinks with more liquid than food, use a pitcher blender. (incl your ketchup and smoothies) Many pitcher blenders now come with a plunger on them that you can stir the food around through the hole in the lid. It is customized for that blender so you can do anything you want and the plunger will never touch the blade. This helps you stir the food so the contents don't get stuck. Great for ice drinks.

For chunkier food or thicker food with less liquid use a food processor (incl your hummus and peanut butter and banana ice cream). This also does your chopping and shredding tasks, a lot of basic prep esp if you use the attachments.

For cookie dough, bread dough, mashed potatoes, cake batter, use a mixer.

For delicate folding and mixing, do the work by hand.

EDIT: I'm glad you are reconsidering. For what it is worth, sometimes you can find a blender base with both a pitcher and a food processor attachment. They have their own blades so they do work for different kinds of foods but then you can save a little money and save some space on the counter. Of course then you have to find storage for your various attachments. I have an Oster that I really love, I bought it at a Target store for about 40 bucks but I bet you can find at Walmart or any number of places. Here is what you are looking for. This food proc doesn't have the feed tube or hopper attachment to slice or shred once from above and collect in the container.

What kind of immersion blender has a bpa free container?

Hi,

Check to see what the plastic is labeled as. If it's type 3 of 7, then it most likely contains BPA.

Once you have the container you could also easily check it for BPA using the method in the link I posted under sources.

Keep safe,

Need help choosing an immersion/hand/stick blender. KitchenAid or Bamix?

I'm looking for a new gadget for my kitchen, and I've settled on an immersion blender. My research has led me to choose between either the KitchenAid KHB300 (http://www.amazon.com/...) or the Bamix Delux (http://www.cooking.com...). The KA would be $80, the Bamix would be $130.

The Bamix is the industry-accepted top of the line immersion blender. The KitchenAid is the runner up.

My question is addressed to any Bamix owners: Do the different blades really make any difference when performing different tasks? (like the whisk blade for mayo, the beater for smoothies, the mincer for soups, etc.) For those who have the KA; how does it perform with non-soup-blending activities?
