Jogging and sprints a completely two different things. But the common thing is that both are a form of cardio. Jogging is a slow pace steady state cardio, which means that we run at a very low pace and maintain a constant heart rate. Sprints are a form of  HIIT(High Intensity Interval Training) We sprint at high speed (to an individuals full capacity). I have some personal experience with sprints and I would recommend doing Sprints compared to jogging because comparing to a marathon runner body and a sprinter body the sprinter is ripped&muscular!!And a sprint burn fat more effectively than the jogging a 15 minutes session of sprints is equal to 1 hour jogging. So sprints not only does burn fat but also keeps the muscle. So sprinting for 30 seconds and resting 30 seconds and repeating for 8 times burns fat effectively. Note: Do sprints 2-3 times a week, more than that could be stressful for the body(especially for beginners)

I joined track and became a sprinter i lost 20 pounds in just over a month.
sprinting with some aerobic activities and you'll shed those pounds away.

before you start just sprinting warm up with at least 1/2 mile or 1 mile

then get a drink and walk for a minute.
get on a track or get a watch

start out with a easy sprint.
remember sprint means using all your energy explosevly.
so you can do a workout like

Sprint 10 seconds
Sprint 15 seconds
Sprint 20 seconds
Sprint 25 seconds
Sprint 20 seconds
Sprint 15 seconds
Sprint 10 seconds

then go and jog another 1/2 mile to a mile and your looking at big results fast. after you build tolerance to those times try adding 5-10 seconds too each one.

How long should sprint vs jogging to lose weight.?

If your only goal is to lose weight, then sprinting more often than jogging will actually be the most effective. Its all about getting your heart rate up (really high), and getting it up often. Also, when jogging, one of the best things you can do is intervals, for example: two minutes slow pace then one minute fast (then repeat for the entire jog). This again is all about getting your heart rate up as high as you can for that minute, resting for the next two to bring it back down, and then shooting it back up again. Last tip is to jog for shorter periods of time but at a higher intensity. Jogging at a slow pace for a long period of time (an hour or more) only teaches your body to be able to do the same amount of work next time using fewer resources (burning less calories). You can easily lose 2-3 pounds a week (at least in the beginning) by jogging/springing only 20 minutes a day, but it has to be INTENSE. Hope this helps and good luck! As far as not burning out... eat well, sleep lots, don't exorcise more than an hour a day, and take AT LEAST one day completely off per week.

Definetely sprints for pure fat loss, although i prefer doing long distance cardio. But as far of which one is better, def sprints.


Jogging for long periods would actually backfire because you would also start burning muscle.

Whats better for fat loss, hill sprints, or a jog?

i need to loose fat while maintaining muscle. For the hill sprints it would be like sprint up, walk down. the jog would be like a 9 min mile pace. It would be right when i get up before i eat

Hi there!Both of them do it BUT these both are the extreme point. What i mean is :-Jogging :- “The activity of running at a steady, gentle pace as a form of physical exercise.”Sprinting:- “Sprinting is running over a short distance in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent.”Now these two if combined would produce a very good result but i would prefer combining Sprinting with running.Note:- Doing sprinting over a long time is not possible but running can be done over a long time span.For fat burning any thing can be opt but the best way would be combining the three/two with each other.Hope this helps.TC
