Which Is Better Hunger Games Or Divergent

Which is better, The Hunger Games, or Divergent?

Divergent hands down. I have read both series. The first book in the hunger games series was good, but it all went down hill from there. Divergent has been stable in its amazingness so far, so Diverent all the way.

They are very similar, definitely, but Divergent excels where The Hunger Games has downfalls.

Plus, Four is by far the best character in wither series <3

Hunger games vs. divergent?

Movie wise both had a first movie that didn't turn out great book wise I would say that I like divergent better than the hunger games in my opinion

Which series is better? Divergent or the Hunger Games?

I read The Hunger Games first. I loved it ... until I got to the last book. I'll be honest, that last book just ticked me off. I hated it! It felt like the story just took a bad turn and it made me not like the series as much as a whole.

Now, Divergent ... my goodness. It made me dislike The Hunger Games even more. Divergent made The Hunger Games look like it was written for really young kids (that's obviously not the case because of the killing in it) but that's how it made me feel. I ADORE the Divergent series. There is just a lot more depth to the plot, characters and everything else.

That being said ... I kinda don't agree with everyone when they say that Divergent is the next Hunger Games because other than the fact that they are both based on dystopian societies, they are really nothing alike. They are both YA books, so they both have young characters but that is really where the similarities end.

The best thing is to read both of the series and see which one you like the best, everyone's taste is completely different and while I wish I could will everyone to love Divergent as much as I do, that just won't happen. But it is better. By a lot. SIDE WITH ME!!! Lol.

I hope that you do get a chance to read both series because they are both really remarkable in their own ways!

Movies like The Hunger Games and Divergent?

Well the only book series I know that is familiar to The Hunger Games and Divergent would be The Maze Runner. The movie is coming out in theatres September 19. If you haven't read any of those books then I really recommend them. They're all so much better than the movies.

Do you prefer the Hunger Games, or Divergent?

I've read both series, and seen the movies, and I have to say I think Hunger Games is better, until the end.
Hunger Games ending is very....meh, to me, while Divergent has a more satisfying ending.

Divergent and Hunger Games both have extremely good character building, though I think Divergent's is better in some ways. In the Hunger Games the main character is, technically, the rebellion- being told through Katniss's eyes. Divergent is more about self discovery, like Savannah said.

I honestly have no idea why people say Divergent is a copy-cat of Hunger Games, the only similarities is that they are both dystopian(its a genre..) and have a female lead(lots of books have female leads).

Divergent vs the hunger games book?

Divergent has been released in the states. I read it about a year ago and have already ordered a copy of Insurgent, to be released in the beginning of May.

I don't hold Hunger Games as a yardstick to measure others of the same genre. I choose to evaluate every other dystopian/post apocalyptic young adult novel on its own. I value Hunger Games as the gateway book that turned my non-reading 15 year old into a 16 year old book lover. But when I consider it in relation to the others of the genre, it's not one of my favorites.

I much preferred the story in Divergent. It was not as slow to start. I liked the world that had been created. I preferred Tris, as a person, to Katniss. The romance aspects of Divergent were much less a part of the story, which has a huge appeal for me. There was more action, more training, more understanding of the whys in Tris' world.

I've read quite a few dystopian/post apocalyptic novels for both adults and young adults, before and after Hunger Games. Suzanne Collins wrote an enjoyable book, but she didn't create anything new. The genre has been around for a very long time.

I also really enjoyed Enclave by Ann Aguirre, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Blood Red Road by Moira Young, Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, The Hungry City Chronicles by Phillip Reeve, Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer, The Secret Under My Skin by Janet McNaughton, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mark K Pearson, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Shadow CHildren by Margaret Peterson Haddix, City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, Gone by Michael Grant and Unwind by Neal Shusterman. There are another dozen or so YA titles that I didn't care for (Matched by Ally Condie, Delirium by Lauren Oliver, The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch, Wither by Lauren Destefano and Bumped by Megan McCafferty top that list).

I guess I simply don't feel a need to compare one book to another. There are enough differences to make it interesting and new, while still maintaining placement in the dystopian/post apocalytic genre, which I love. Besides, I read almost constantly. If I spent time comparing one to another, I'd have less time to read. :)

Divergent and Harry Potter are two very different series though they’re both in the Y/A fiction genre.I can’t tell you which one you should go with first because that’s totally your choice but what I can tell you is that I started off with The HP series and it kinda blew my mind away. And then I read the Hunger Games series followed by the Divergent series because I was on a reading spree. The thing with the HP series is that it is full of emotions and it teaches you so many things which life has to offer to you. Divergent series on the other hand, is more on the romantic side (not much but still). You can start off with the Divergent series, if you want, because then, when you start with the HP series, you’ll get all the seven book plus the sequel, that is, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and you wouldn’t have to wait for the sequel like I did.And also, when you read the Divergent series, there’s this one last book named Four, which is the male protagonist’s side of the story. It’s recommended that you read it in the end of the Divergent series.PS: Divergent movies literally sucked, in my humble opinion.Hope you find it helpful.Yashasvini.

Which book is better Divergent or Legend?

I liked them both but I personally prefer Legend because I liked June more than Tris, I was impressed with how smart she was. Though you could argue that Tris has a greater journey cause she has to grow more if you like that. Both really good, but it took me a bit more of an effort to keep reading Divergent at times.

Some funny, romantic, action books you should check out after:
Strange Angels by Lili Saint Crow
Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
Poison Study by Maria V Snyder
Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray

The Hunger Games is the better of the two trilogies.  Although I think the first installments in each trilogy are about equal in creativity and characterization, the Hunger Games pulls ahead in Books 2 and 3. The writing, the characters and especially the plot structure are just better. For me, the last two volumes of the Divergent trilogy fell apart.  The books read as though author Veronica Roth was under duress to produce. And they seem a little derivative of other science fiction works in a way that Hunger Games does not.Ultimately Ms. Roth failed to deliver the same kind of coherent, cohesive denouement and ending to her series as Suzanne Collins did with Hunger Games.Too, I have to admit that I just liked the character of Katniss from The Hunger Games better than I did Tris from Divergent.  Katniss, whether it was because she was better written or that I accepted her reality as more true, captured my imagination in a way that Tris never did.Thank you for the A2A.
