Which Is Selling More Movies On Dvd Or Blu-ray

Do all blu ray movies come with dvds?

NO, NOT all Blu-Rays come with a DVD.

These are some Blu-Rays that don't come with a DVD at all. Also they are not like some movies where there is one that is a combo, and one just the Blu-Ray itself released with lesser extras or none.

Some DVDs and Blu-rays come with 10 previews and ads you cannot skip. Are some studios or movies notorious in this area?

Different studios approach this differently.  In general you can never skip or fast forward through the FBI and Interpol warning screens.  Trailers can usually be skipped via the next-chapter button, and sometimes you can skip past everything by pressing the "Title Menu" button or the "Pop-up Menu" button.  Unfortunately, trial-and-error is about the only way to know which of these approaches will work. The good news is some studios have begun to take advantage of Blu-ray's ability to make use of local storage to remember whether you've watched a given disc, and won't present the trailers upon repeated viewings (and may remember where you were if you stopped a movie in the middle).  The other good news is that some titles are streaming new trailers if they detect a sufficiently fast broadband connection rather than showing the old trailers authored onto the disc, so if you're someone who enjoys trailers you're likely to find these will remain relevant rather than become stale.Bill

Does blockbuster or hollywood sell previeved blu-ray movies?

I know blockbuster does, they're on an endcap of the isles. Hollywood video might, but they wouldn't have as good of a selection.

Should I rebuy my dvds as blu-rays? Or am I wasting my money?

I got a blu-ray player a few months ago, and have since been replacing a lot of my DVDs on blu-ray. I started by only replacing my absolute favorite movies, but I've been so satisfied with the experience you get from the upgraded quality, that I've started replacing most of my movies.

You should definitely start by replacing the films you really love, and if you feel the difference, replace more. I still keep some movies on DVD, but for the big blockbuster movies I have, blu-ray just improves the experience too much.

A waste of money, it is not.

Do animated movies look significantly better on Blu-Ray than DVD?

If you already have an Upconverting DVD player, then the answer is: it depends.

Older animated movies like Aladdin and such, you probably won't notice any real difference. Newer releases such as Wall-E are much better on Blu-Ray - even above Upconverting.

Upconverting DVD players still only have so much data to work with to upconvert the picture to. And the faster the images move and/or more detailed they get, the harder it is for the DVD to keep up.
