Which Longboard Should I Buy

Should i get a longboard from target?

I wouldn't, but if you do, keep in mind that you will have to buy new trucks, wheels, and bearings very soon because they will all break.

What longboard should I get?

There's a lot of good options that'll meet your criteria! The first thing I'll suggest is avoid ALL plastic decks. Yes, they look cute and retro in the adds, but what they gain in looks they lose in performance. They're too flexy, too flat and often too narrow for a beginner to really gain confidence on.I strongly recommend getting down to your local skate shop and picking a deck off the wall. This is the most exciting and informative way to do it, as the guys in the shop will be supportive and happy to help, and if you ask them nicely they’ll assemble it for you and show you what to do. It’s like a rite of passage into the skate community. Most decks they'll have will be 31/32″ long and around 8″ wide, which is small enough to have on campus and large enough to be stable and with a decent tail and concave for ollies up curbs or flip tricks if you feel like it. Ask for some Independent High Trucks to go with it, and some softer wheels of around 56/58mm. I recommend Ricta Clouds, Spitfire 80HDs, or maybe Bones ATF. Also, you might want some small risers (either 1/8 or 1/4″) to make sure you don't get wheel bite! Then just any old hardware and bearings it doesn't matter much, just make sure you ask for some! This is the ideal set up for what you've described, and will give you a great entry into finding out what parts you like, support your local shop and give you an idea of how awesome the skate community is!Good luck and keep on pushing!Edit: on specific deck recommendations, I personally love Welcome or Tired decks, they make cool shapes that look awesome and are a lot of fun to skate. Ask to stand on a couple of decks that you like the look of on a carpet (no wheels or trucks) just to see if you like the feel!

Where can I buy a longboard in Boston?

I would suggest buying one online. Much larger selection and better prices.Amazon.com : Atom Pintail Longboard : Longboard Skateboards : Sports & OutdoorsThe above is a link to a great starter board. Very easy to learn on and a great price. I have had it for about 2 years now and it has held up very well, would definitely recommend it.

Should I buy a complete longboard?

If you're a beginner I'd definitely buy a complete, usually there's nothing wrong with those and they are often cheaper than putting one together yourself. Furthermore, as a beginner you won't even notice much difference yet because you still need to learn. I've done the exact same thing trust me.

What type of longboard should I buy for college?

I am going to purchase a longboard for transportation around my college campus, but I'm not sure what brand or length to buy. I have experience riding a regular skateboard and am approximately 6 feet tall, roughly 200 lbs. Can any longboard experts help me out with what brand and length would suit me best?

I prefer a very high quality deck and trucks / wheels, even if the price is slightly above average. I live in Florida, so the board needs to be able to withstand the heat and humidity.

What is the fastest longboard wheels I can buy?

wheels dont necessarily make you faster, although they can contribute, the bearings are the main source of speed. for maximum speed i would recomend bones super swiss 6 bearings ( http://motionboardshop.com/longboarding/... ) and abec 11 grippins in 92a( http://motionboardshop.com/longboarding/... )( assuming all your roads are smooth) if not then i would go with abec 11 flashbacks in 81a ( http://motionboardshop.com/longboarding/... )

Should I buy a longboard or a skateboard?

what are you reasons for wanting a plywood toy with 4 wheels and 2 trucks? Transportation or entertainment? Or a mix of both? If you need to get from place to place a longboard is the proper tool. Sure you can use a modern street board but it won’t be nearly as easy or as fun. Now if you want to spend hours learning to Ollie (and then years learning all the related tricks) get a street board (or 30). I have owned a silly plywood toy for more than 40 years, there is more than one in my home/RV at any time and in truth I find riding a board part of my daily life. Don’t worry about what kind of board you need just get one and use it the kind of board you need will be dictated by what kind of riding you are doing

What kind of longboard should i buy my boyfriend?

Hi I want to get my boyfriend a longboard for christmas. He had a BHNC sector9 before and then someone stole it from his friend. Long story short he wants another but do to lack of money on his part he hasn't been able to. I would like to get him one. I know if i give him the money to buy one himself he wont and I know he wouldn't want me to spend that on him but I want to. My question is should i buy him another BHNC or is there a similar longboard that is better. I just really want him to love it as much as he loved the other one.

Should i buy a bamboo longboard or a maple longboard?

Do u mean a skateboard or a surfboard? If u mean a skateboard, it depends. On what u like. If u want a more stiff, stable deck, maple is the war to go. If u want a more carvy, flexy deck, go with bamboo

What plywood should be used for a longboard?

The best ply to use is Maple. Most companies prefer to use Canadian Maple. Different countries and different industries call it different things. Basically a veneer. If the ply/veneer is about a millimetre thick, basically a very thin slice of a piece of maple trunk that has been cooked. A typical skateboard is made from 7 plys. A longboard is usually around 9 plys but longboards are made from a lot of different materials, not just maple ply. There are more plies to stiffen the deck because it is longer, hence a longer wheelbase. If you are looking for alternatives to standard ply, go down to your local hardware shop and see what they have. It does not have to be single ply. Usually there is good marine grade ply, it might be two or three ply thick. Work on the basis that a standard longboard around 38 inches long will need to be 9 plys. Unless you are putting in a fibreglass or strengthening layer. If the marine ply is 3 ply, then you'll need three layers. Look at the plys edge and count how many layers there are.If you want to buy ply thick enough to make a cut out of a longboard, in Australia we call this a Bunnings Board (like saying a Home Depot Board in the USA). You want a board that is strong and enough layers so it does not sag. Depending on length of deck, go somewhere between 8 and 10 ply. Obviously the more plys the heavier the deck. It also depends on your weight, if you are a grom, then you need less ply. Again look for something like Marine Grade. This does not mean it is waterproof.
