Which Name Do You Believe Sounds Nicer For A Girl

Is the name Muriel more for a boy or a girl?

My husband loves angel names, and we are wondering whether the name Muriel is a boy or girls name (it's listed as both). The only Muriel we've known is a girl, but it was a boy angel I believe, and although it ends in an "elle" type ending, it could be kind of like the Gabriel, Raphael, Ishmael of boys names. It's an Irish name and means "sparkling sea." I've also heard that it's the Irish form of Mary.

Which do you think it sounds better with? Any variant spellings you prefer?

How do you spell the name that sound like Honor?

I heard of a girl's name that sounds like the word "honor" but i dont know how to spell it. Here are some of the ways i thought of spelling it. Which looks best or do you have any better ideas?
Honor
Auner
Aunner
Ahner
Ahnner
Aunir
Onner
Ohner
Aanor (my husbands name with the letters moved around/Aaron)
and whats a good middle name if "Honor" was the first?

What are some words in your language that sound nice as a name, if their original definition never existed?

All names tend to have a root in words with some type of positive meaning. There is no such name that “used to mean total shit but now is a good baby name”.Therefore, I’m guessing the OP means either words that are actual names in some language, but mean horrible things in another, or words that I think sound nice. Which actually has nothing to do with etymology. But what the heck.Mouna/MunaArabic female name, means Dick or Egg in Finnish.KamalaIndian female name. Horrible in Finnish.HumalaI believe one ex president of Peru is called Ollanta Humala. Señor Intoxication in Finnish, that is.PissarevaAnother top notch surname , this time from Ukraine. It’s the feminine ending in -a that makes this so terrifying in Finnish.Pissa=piss + reva= pussy.Pisspussy..?One Linkedin profile went viral in Finland because it belonged to Mr. Metrin Slerba.I still, to this day, believe this was not a real profile but pleeease tell me, is this a real name?? It means One metre dick.As for Finnish words with “nice sound, not very nice meaning” , I’ll give it a shot.TonttuI always found this to be phonetically pleasing. I would totally name a person Tonttu. It means elf.KikkeliThis, to me, sounds like it could be a female name. Maybe in Estonian. *Evil laughs*It means willie (penis)UmmetusPronounced with a slight English accent, it could be a Roman poet or something,eh?It means constipation.

How does this name sound?

In my humble opinion (that is, don't let my opinion spoil a name for you), I'm none too fond of it

Tharen sounds like somone with a lisp trying to say Daren, or Sarin (the nerve gase)

Arcenaux is a cajun variant of the french surname Arceneau, which means "gunmaker" or "gun seller". It's a very common surname where I live (Cameron Parish, Louisiana), so I just can't see it as a given name. Especially since it's the surname of a local newswoman who is a bit obnoxious (and not all that attractive ... she was once sent to jail on spousal battary charges)

How do I compliment a girl on her name?

Ordinary: That's a nice / sweet name.Cocky: That's the name of my next girlfriend.Sentimental: That's my mother’s / sister's name.Romantic: I always loved that name on someone and am glad I finally found one.Sarcastic: That's a beautiful name for someone like you.Nerdy: Your name would consume so and so bytes and the addition of those numbers is a very lucky number. (Go for it bluntly, no one has the time to calculate things)Lazy: You have a name which can be remembered easily.Best way: Be genuine, Tell her something related to her name that you really like and that is why it's such a beautiful name.

What do you think of "Ginger" as a girl's name?

It's a little old-fashioned. Other than that I think it's great. Classy and unique while being  familiar enough to not be too out of the ordinary.

What do you think of the name Malia for a girl?

The name Malia derives from either the Hawaiian form of Mary or a variant of Malie, meaning 'calm' in Hawaiian.

I think the name is pretty, youthful, wholesome, and a bit ethnic. Some negative connotations with the sound of the name could be 'mal' meaning bad in French and I've heard people say it reminds them of malaria, which I didn't really think of (even though I'm doing a project on malaria!)

This name has come into prominence within the 21st century, especially now because Hawaiian president Barrack Obama has a daughter named Malia. It is part of the new batch of names created the 21st century like Jayden and such that are really catching on.

For middle names I personally believe a middle name is good for naming the child after a family member (my middle name is my mom's maiden name, saves the hyphenation). Also middle names tend to sound nicer when they're one syllable (like the overused 'Ann, Lynn, Rose, Marie, Jane, Leigh, etc'). Name I think sound nice with Malia are:

Malia Ciel (meaning calm sky)
Malia Jane
Malia Eve
Malia Nadine
Malia Ann (name of Barrack Obama's daughter)
Malia Grace
Malia Natalie
Malia Brie
Malia Sophia

Think of initials as well when picking a middle name!

What do you think about Elka for a girls name?

No I like Ella better.

My wife and I have several boy and girl names -- thumbs up or down?

Hey, it looks like I'm one of the few men who ask about baby names. Too bad. It's pretty important, and children have to live with them their entire lives.

Anyway, these are the ones we are settled on in order of preference:
Relm Darcy (female)
Alexander "Xander" Bradley (male)
Dane Jackson (2nd male)
Celeste Denice (2nd female)

Jackson is a family name (my grandpa) and Darcy is a play off of my mother's middle name. Bradley is the name of my wife's late father. The rest are just ones that we like. Yes, Relm is made-up.

Be honest, but polite. What do you think?

What do you think of the name Yvonna? Does it sound very made-up?

Yvonne - I like your own name! Yvonna sounds fine as well, but you seem to be avoiding your given name. Perhaps you just don't like your own name?Maybe shortened to "Vonna" for a choice of a name with less syllables.Yvonne is a great name.I think it speaks of elegance, and style. It seems to be somewhat old school but in a good way and it isn't a name I hear very often. Unique and rare names stick in people's minds and that is always a plus.
