Is luciana a pretty name for a girl? which name is prettier, luciana or sapphire?

You've really got to think of what nicknames they can get from a name. Luciana could call herself "Lucy" or Äna" but all Sapphire gets is "Sapphy" or "Sapph". Alot of kids like to have nicknames nowdays.

My name is Rosetta and look at all the nicknames I have to choose from: Rose, Rosie, Rosa.

I went with Rosie.
My mum's name is Rosetta too and she went with Rose.

Is Kendra a pretty girl name?

I am expecting a girl in late November. I have aways liked the name Kendra and thought it was a pretty, feminine name. My husband says it sounds too much like "Ken" and is therefore not pretty or feminine. What do you think?

What are some pretty Polish girl names?

I'm Polish, so I can give you some names. Agnieszka (Agnes), Jadwiga, Daniela, Weronika, Milena, Danuta (Dana/Diane), Iwona (Yvonne), Paulina, Justyna, Malgosia (Margaret), Zofia, Ania/Aniela, Dominika, Dorota (Dorothy), Jolanta, Joasia (Joanna), Jasia (a form of Jane), Kasia, Beata, Waleria, Michalina (feminine form of Michael), Alenka, Bozena, Mazena, Grazyna, Iwa, Ewa, Halina, Agata, Kinga, Katarzyna (Catherine), Malina, Natusia, Zuzana/Zuza (Susanna), Alicja (Alice), Edyta, Genowefa/Genia (Jennifer).

It would helpful if you knew the sound of some of the letters in these names, then you would know how to say the names correctly. Or perhaps you already know? I can give you some pronounciations.

I = "ee" sound i.e. Dominika = Doh--mee--nee--ka
sia= "shah" sound i.e. Natusia = Na--too--sha
w = "v" sound i.e Jadwiga = Yah--dvee--ga
sz = "sh" sound
J = "Y" sound (see "Jadwiga")
Y = "i" sound as in the word "in" i.e Justyna = Yoo--stina
*** there are 2 z's in the Polish alphabet. one is said regularly like the American z, but another one sounds very different. instead of saying "shhh!" like u would normally, replace z w/ the s. it's very difficult to explain, I know. i.e. Zuzana = zoo--zah--nah. be careful, though. the nickname for it is Zuza. the first z is said regularly, but the second is the strange one. this "strange" z will have a dot on the top of it, so you'll know when to pronounce a z in that way.

Anyway, hopefully I helped! Good luck on choosing a name

Is the name Raquel a pretty name for a girl?

I like it a lot. It is pretty, exotic, not unheard of, but different from the standard Rachel and prettier than the oh so bland Rachelle...

I have a friend named Raquel and I really like it...for nn she often gets called "Kel"

My friend's last name is Decker...it works...who cares if the kid isn't Spanish? Isabella is Italian and you don't see only Italians with the name, you don't see only Germans named Heidi...so who cares?

Is Amaya a pretty name for a baby girl?

I like it, but it's my name...so I suppose that I'm biased. LOL

By the way, although "Night Rain" is also accurate.

In the Hindu religion and Sanskrit...a "Maya" is an "Illusion".

I used to joke that my father named me Amaya, because he hoped that I was an "Illusion". LOL

Best of Luck.

Is there a girl name without the letter 'A' in it?

Yes, there are lots of first names given to girls which don’t have the letter A in them. My name, Yule Eve, and several others even among typical American names: Emily, Olive, Rose, Britney, Rylee, Lindsey, Michelle, Hope, Destiny. just to list the ones off the top of my head. And spelling changes can give you infinite possibilities. You could spell Crystal as Crystel and get a name without A in it, etc. Then there’s not-so-typical names; I know a girl named Moss and there are so many variants of the name “Unique” (uniq, uneeq, yunik, etc.) at my school. Anything you want can be a name, at least in the U.S. I know in a lot of European countries there are rules about what you can name your kids. But there are also lots of other names without A. In germany, the “uh” sound that makes a lot of names sound feminine (Amelia, olivia, sarah, etc.) is replaced by “e” (still makes the uh sound): Jule, Ole, Pauline, etc. That can give you a few more options for names, even with stricter rules. The reason so many feminine names end in A in English-speaking countries stems from Latin, where most feminine words end in “a”, like puella (girl), femina (woman), pulchra (beautiful in its feminine form), stella (star) and so on. Nevertheless, there are plenty of girl names without tye letter A.

Why is the name "Luna" a nice name for a baby girl? What other girls names associated with astronomy can you suggest?

It's a beautiful name for a baby girl.That's what my parents named me, when I was a baby girl.I was specifically named after Luna Lovegood, in the first movie I ever watched as a kitte..err... baby girl, Harry Potter...Such a beautiful, quirky character she was.I was happy when they named me Luna.Hey, do you see that telescope behind me?  That's my telescope.  If you want your baby girl to take pride and be inspired by her name, Luna is a perfect choice, and that's why I love astronomy.  I even blogged about it here:Luna discovers the cosmosI saw Jupiter again, just the other day.  It was such a pretty planet!And I know my original namesake is the celestial body itself.  Our moon.It's so beautiful, don't you think?I couldn't imagine a prettier name for what will no doubt be a beautiful, intelligent woman one day.So yeah, name your baby after me.Because I said so.
