Which of the following statements about joan of arc is not true?

In 1429, Joan was captured by John of Luxembourg, a captain of the Duke of Burgundy who although French was allied with the English.

King Charles VII of France could have exchanged a high ranking English prisoner for her but ungratefully he left her to her fate.

Joan was sold by Luxembourg to the English. The English, out of fear and shame, were determined to have her killed. They could not put her to death for having beaten them but they could get her sentenced to death as a witch and a heretic.

The English found the unscrupulous and ambitious Bishop of Beauvais (yes, a bad Catholic) who had sided with Burgundy with the English. A very biased and unfair trial by local tribunal followed (which was against Church law) and eventually she was burned at the stake.

Later, with the support of the Pope, her trial was appealed. The court determined the first trial was illegal and reversed and annulled the sentence. The first trial even ignored Joan's appeal to the Pope which was the right of every Catholic.

She was canonized a saint by the Catholic Church in 1909.

With love in Christ.

How can both of these statements be correct, the son of God or the son of man? Doesn't that demonstrate two separate philosophies of believers? One is actually elevating man to the position of God.

Son of Man is actually a Messianic title. He's referencing prophecy from Daniel. Jesus is basically saying he's the one they've been waiting for, a warrior, a King, God in the form of a man.Regardless of your faith, this is one of the most epic passages in the entire Bible. The sort of imagery that would have a heavy sound track and Michael Bay effects… and it scared the heck out of Daniel. Here, Daniel is describing the Son of Man at the penultimate climax of the apocalypse:“As I kept watching, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair of His head like whitest wool. His throne was flaming fire; its wheels were blazing fire. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands served Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was convened, and the books were opened. “I watched, then, because of the sound of the arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued watching, the beast was killed and its body destroyed and given over to the burning fire. As for the rest of the beasts, their authority to rule was removed, but an extension of life was granted to them for a certain period of time. I continued watching in the night visions, and I saw One like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before Him. He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.Daniel 7:9‭-‬14 HCSBPretty awesome description, eh? Son of Man was actually one of Jesus' favorite titles. You can imagine why claiming to be that dude would be pretty bold, if not incredibly stupid… assuming that you weren't. This, amongst others claims of divinity, were why the Jewish religious leaders were so ticked. It would like claiming to be George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and the entire 1980 US hockey team at once.

How does the European notion of the "divine right of kings" differ from the Chinese concept of the "Mandate of Heaven"?

On the face of it both Divine Right of Kings and Mandate of Heaven sound similar of  kings justifying their rule with divine sanction and consent, and not accountable to any one except the supreme power above.  But unlike Divine Right of Kings, the Mandate of Heaven was not a free ticket to rule, just because you happened to be of royal birth, it came around with a whole lot of conditions. The basic idea of Mandate of Heaven is that emperors have a right to rule granted by heaven based on their ability to provide good governance, and this was prevalent in China. But here is the catch, unlike Divine Right of Kings, that gave rulers an unconditional right to rule,  the Mandate of Heaven explicitly stated that if an emperor is not virtuous or able, he is not fit to rule.  This was in sharp contrast to Divine Right of Kings, where it did not matter if you were a tyrant or plain inefficient, you could rule with no questions asked, as long as you were of royal pedigree. As per the Divine Right of Kings, only God can judge whether the king was fit to rule or not. This basically meant, rulers could  just about get away with anything, justifying their actions with Divine Sanctions. The state of monarchy is the supremest thing upon earth, for kings are  not only God's lieutenants upon earth and sit upon God's throne, but  even by God himself they are called gods.- James IOne more difference is that Mandate of Heaven does not stipulate that a ruler has to be of noble birth, they could be of common birth, and only the actions determine their status.  For eg Liu Bang who founded the Han Dynasty came from a peasant family,  as was Zhu Yuanzhang who founed the Ming dynasty.  It also gave scope to overthrow despotic rulers or those who were plain incompetent. It has it's roots in the History of China, where dynasties came to power overthrowing the previous dynasty, though it was first used in context to the rulers of the Zhou dynasty who came to power overthrowing the Shang Dynasty. In sharp contrast, under Divine Right of Kings, only God can judge the King, and that means any attempt to depose, or even restrict the powers of the king would be considered as sacrilege.  What this effectively did was to make revolt against the King as illegitimate, unlike the Mandate of Heaven, that give people the right to revolt against a despotic or inefficient ruler.
