Which Of These Cars Would You Buy

Which car should i buy?

If you were going to buy one of these two cars tomorrow, which car would you choose? please gve me a good answer

a new 2009 Honda civic ex

or a used 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

What car would you buy for $38,000 or less?

You're not going to get a sub-4 second 0-60 car for $38k. The most bang-for-the-buck speed out there is the Chevy Corvette, and a new one starts at $45k and does "only" mid-4s. A Chevy Corvette Z06 can run sub-4s but costs another $25k. A Dodge Viper is about the same speed as a Z06 but $10k more expensive, and anything faster than a Z06 or Viper would be a $150k+ exotic with a year long waiting list. And for young people (which I assume you are to be asking this question), the insurance is astronomical for any of these cars.

My advice? Don't try to pretend to be what you're not. Cars are an appliance, not a reflection of who you are.

What kind of car would you buy car if you had $1,000,000?

You don’t get to be a millionaire by buying expensive cars. You get there by making prudent decisions in purchases of things that depreciate over time and investing instead in instruments that appreciate over time. Many people I know at my age have that million and it has virtually no bearing on what car they plan to buy. Seriously.I am looking at a used Kia Sorento as my next car as it has enough towing capacity and will be a good vehicle for going up to the lake and launching my boats. It is rated similarly to the Toyota Land Cruiser or a Lexus AWD but costs significantly less for a recent trade-in.It will depreciate but not at the same rate as the new Lexus I could also pay cash for will.

What kind of car should I buy if my budget is 4500-5000 dollars at most.?

You really need to consider this for yourself. How much can you afford for gas? How important is safety? Do you have an "image" you need to fit? Does the thing have a problem history? Is this type vehicle reliable, and what are the periodic manitenance costs? (Some require expensive, fancy oil and filters.) Insurance costs. If you have a real insurance company, like Allstate, they can help you with all of this information. "Bob and Freds Insurance and Pizza Delivery" will not help at all, ever. KBB.COM provides a free record check to find the problem history on a car.

Would you buy a rental car?

Rental Cars - people ask about them all the time.

I have bought dozens of previous rentals from Enterprise, Alamo and Hertz. In fact, at many dealer sales I look for these cars.

Contrary to one post - these cars are very well maintained. They are the company's income, so they have to be kept in good order and out on the road. They cant neglect a $15 oil change and end up with a seized engine. It costs money in repairs, and in lost rentals. If a customer reports a mechanical problem, they are almost always investigated and inspected before going back on the road. If they ignore a problem, and it causes a customer to have a wreck, they are in deep... you know.

As to how they are treated. I see people say "oh you know that car was beat to death." How? How can you know that? (BTW your mom does not 'do donuts in the parking lot' spare me). You have no better guarantee on a private party car than you do a rental. You are just as likely to get a beat to death car that was not maintained from an individual as you are a prior rental. Consider this: The guy who beats a rental probably beats his driver too. Only he flogged one for a week, the other for a couple of years. Both cars will eventually be sold to someone. Which one will you buy?

The key in ANY car purchase is to get a thorough inspection before you buy. Spend the $100 or so to get a certified mechanic to look it over top-to-bottom. If you dont buy the car, you are out $100. But if you dont buy it, there is probably good reason, so you will save the $13,000 you would have spent.

Never buy without an inspection.

If you 'only' had $45,000 to spend, what car would you buy and why?

This is actually a lot of money. And I mean a lot.I would probably get… another one I already have - a Volvo 940 wagon. It’s damn near perfect for me and my needs. But this time, a it would be a Turbo or a 960 with a 6-cyllinder engine. Of course in best condition possible and as well equiped as possible - automatic, air condition etc. (mine has neither). Then I’d spend any money neccessary to make it as technically perfect as possible. And I’d be still left with a huge amount of cash.I’d spend that on a nicely maintained weird classic - a Citroen GS comes to mind.I’ve driven one (exactly the one on the photo) last year and loved every second of the experience. It’s fun and quirky in an absolute lovable way. Not too fast but frugal enough for relaxed driving. And its hydropneumatic suspension is a true gem! Yes, a DS is even more wonderful but a really good one requires a bit more cash so the GS would be just fine.I could spend the rest on keeping both of them in good shape.

Which of these cars should I get as a first car?

It would depend on which has the combination of best condition, best features, lowest mileage, and lowest price. Assuming they were equal (which is impossible), the Civic would be a good choice.
