Which Of These Girls Could Pull Off The Emo And Goth Look The Best

How do you pull off the gothic look?

Most "real goths" I know (including myself) really dont care about aethestics. (sorry, spelling sucks tonight)

I tend to simply dress like a normal person, with more black, only because I like the color, not because it makes me "goth."

The most "Goth Looking" I get is Tripp NYCs and Bondage Shirts (yes the look used to be used by people other than Hot Topic wannabes)

But it also depends what type of Goth, Cyber-Goth, Gothabilly, RomantiGoth, Erethial Goth, RivetHead? They all have their own style.

Check out some "real gothic" bands like The Cruxshadows, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Seraphim Shock, Concrete Blond, etc. Burrow from them.

Only advice I can give on a "Gothic" look, STAY AWAY FROM HOT TOPIC. >.<

Just dont try to be something youre not, if you call yourself something like an "Emo/Goth" people will just think your an idiot trying to be something youre not.

I know this is the second time I'm saying it, but Hot Topic and Spencers, and places of the like are big no-nos, not to say all people who shop at Hot Topic are wanna-bes...But it is very common that that is in fact the case.

In the end, just dress how you like.

What do goth/Emo boys look for in a girl ?

Well of course some of them are little turds who won't go out with you unless you have green dreads and draw your eyebrows halfway up your forehead. But most of them are lovely.

From my own experience of hanging out with goth and metalhead guys (I don't really know many emo kids), I can say that they want a smart girl, who is well-read and has her own opinions. It helps if you're into the music, but as long as you're willing to explore the culture it doesn't matter if you don't look really gothic- all these guys expect is that you like them for who they are rather than seeing them as some kind of novelty.

You need to be able to hold a good conversation too! Believe it or not, your average goth doesn't take life too seriously- they are serious when they need to be but they have a laugh like everyone else.

They do tend to prefer girls who are alternative, although that doesn't necessarily mean scary- I've only ever had male attention from goths and moshers and the like, and although I dress kind of gothy I don't do it all the time, and I don't have any piercings or anything. They don't care. If you're different from the crowd they'll pay attention to you.

Make sure you separate the needy goths from the sane ones though, there are a few goth guys who came to that lifestyle through being very upset about stuff and they can be a real drain if they're not considerate people. I know that from experience! But most of them are very nice guys, I think you've got good taste in men.

Can only white girls pull of the scene/emo look?

not at all -- being any type of label or part of a subculture doesn't necessarily limit you by ethnicity or race or gender or sexuality, etc. at least I know for emo and goths and scenes, you don't HAVE to be a white girl (white ppl are just more commonly associated with those subcultures, probably since most of them came up with the style to begin with), but no one said you have to be white to be emo, scene, or goth!
I'm sure there are lots of asians or half-asians who dress emo/scene (lots of them have a fascination in the gothic fashion) so it shouldn't be hard to find some similar styles~ true, red would be tricky for skin color, just find a color that suits your skin tone that you're happy with! maybe a shade of brown or like black with colored highlights in your hair~ examples:

Why do goth/emo girls die their hair bright colors?

Please don't take this to offense. I know not every emo or goth girl does this and to be honest I don't know anything about emo or goth. I was just wondering since there are these girls at my school that dress in all black and where black makeup and stuff but their hair is died bright colors like hot pink. So pretty much I'm asking why do goth/emo (Don't know the difference sorry) wear all black yet have bright hair?

How do I pull off black nail polish without looking like an emo/gothchick wannabe?

Black Polish rocks! I love it on my toes! As for the nails, keep them short and square, no chips, and always put a base coat on first as it tends to stain your nails. Most clothes will look cool with it, alot of celebs a.k.a Victoria Beckman wear it with smart black dresses, skinny jeans and pretty sandals.

But, before you go black, try a very deep purple instead, these also look really cool, but not quite so goth/emo.

So go get painting!

Do you think that being a Goth or an Emo is ok?

Yes, I do. Those that have a problem with it are usually ill-informed or misunderstand the aesthetic of the Goth/ALT/Emo lifestyle. In fact these are three different unique but closely tied styles. Most Goths or Emos are more accepting of other, people/ genders/ races/ sexualities/ lifestyles/ whatever it is that you identify as. So that makes being Goth or Emo, more than okay in my book.

Am I too old to dress like emo/goth?

Not too late— always dress how you feel. If that is what you are drawn to, dress that way 100 percent. You will feel happier inside when your outside matches it. I just saw a lady in Target in her 50′s who was dressed like that, and I thought, “Good for her.”

Can African American girls pull off the rockabilly style?

I am an African American girl, and have been in love with the whole rockabilly theme for a while, but never tried to dress and do my hair like the girls I see. Do you think I would be able to? Please no rude answers. Thank you so much!
