Where can I buy pomeranian/maltese puppies in Boston?

Go to http://Petfinder.com. Select your city, your preferred breed, and view dogs available for adoption in your area. You do not need to buy a pomeranian or a maltese. Any breeder you buy from, particularly for these high-volume, high-demand breeds, is going to be the most vile sort of human being. Even "reputable" breeders dump unsold dogs -- at shelters, if the dogs are lucky, or on the side of freeways if they aren't. These people think of dogs as a business. They will charge you anywhere from $200-$2,000 for these breeds. You are an absolute sucker to pay that kind of money to that kind of human being.

How much does a Maltese dog cost?

Maltese puppies are adorable little creatures known for their intelligence and affection towards human beings. Because of their fragile condition, it’s best that you get one from a reputable breeder that you can trust. They usually cost around 1500$, but you can find quality breeders that sell them for around 1000$. I recently saw that Premierpups.com actually has some cute and decently priced pups. This is Max. A proper Maltese pup.

How can I make my maltese puppy sleep alone and stay home alone?

He's a baby.   He's not suffering from separation anxiety disorder, he's showing normal puppy behavior.   Is his play pen/cage in the same room with you?   That would be the first step in helping him adjust.   Just like any baby, you're going to need to get up a few times during the night for him to comfort him, take him outside to relieve himself, etc.   It won't take very long. You also don't want to put food and water in with him overnight.   This is going to make housebreaking him very difficult.   Have a vigorous play session and a large meal before bedtime, then take him out to relieve himself, and put him to bed.   If he's worn out with a full tummy, he should sleep fairly easily.   You might need to sit near him the first couple of nights until he falls asleep.  Another thing to look at is the crate might be too large for him at night.   A smaller, more den like environment might be more comforting for him at night until he grows into the larger cage.

Pros and Cons on a Maltese puppy?

I have a Maltese puppy! I chose to get a Maltese because they are supposed to shed very minimally. In fact, she sheds very little. I'd find only maybe one white hair on my black outfit. Indeed I shed more than she does. LOL I used to have labradors and I got tired of all the dog hair on my clothes.

Also I wanted a smaller size dog, just because I wanted a change of pace from a 100-lb lab who used to pull me when I took him for a walk. This one is small. She's only 2 lbs now, and will be 4 lbs when fully grown.

She's a joy to be around. She's so loving and loves to cuddle and snuggle up with you. My girl friend said, "Who needs a man when you can have her?" haha (Well, I still love my boyfriend and need him.)

She eats very little and therefore makes little poops that don't really smell. So you'll save on the food bill, and don't have too much aggrevation cleaning up after her.

I'm in the process of potty training her by using newspapers to train her. She goes on the papers most of the time ~ 80%. She still cannot be trusted in the other parts of the house, or there'll be accidents, but it looks promising. She is only 3 months old after all. I don't expect her to be fully trained until 1 year old. She seems to want to please. She's smart and learns quickly.

The drawback is the tear stain, but there're breeders out there that claim their Maltese don't have the tear stain problem.

Maltese loves children. Both my kids also love her. She loves to be with people. In general, I think Maltese is a great breed - low maintenance. I don't take her to a groomer. I give her a bath myself and brush her hair for her. She's very playful and can play independently and happily by herself, but when you walk away, she'll drop everything and follow you. She doesn't bark unless I put her in her crate. She stops after a while.

I think you should get one. :-D

Where could I purchase a maltese puppy?

If you are bent on buying a puppy, you'll have to find a reputable breeder who does genetic health testing. Maltese are prone to a number of inherited disease so you'll have to be careful when screening breeders. Make sure the parents have tested clear for cardiac and patellar luxation. The American Maltese Assoc maintains a list of such breeders. http://www.americanmaltese.org/

GOOD breeders are far less common than bad ones, so you might be traveling out of Raleigh if you are trying to find a well bred healthy puppy.
