Which Planet Of The Apes Should I Watch

Where can I watch the Planet of the Apes TV series?

did u try online?

Before I watch Rise of Planet of Apes, what should I watch?

"Rise" can be enjoyed in itself without wathcing any of the others. But if you're curious, the 5 movies from the 60s & 70s relate to "Rise," but the 2001 version not as much. (There are references--some subtle, some not, to the first 5 movies sprinkled throughout "Rise"). I grew up watching those movies as a kid and loved them (still do!). The first "Planet" is a classic and is definitely worth watching. The second ("Beneath") is a bit on the tedious side, but kind of interesting in the context of the Cold War during which it was filmed (and the fears of nuclear war, which are a central theme of this movie). "Escape" is great fun. "Conquest" may be interesting for you to see AFTER you see "Rise"--"Rise" is in some ways a newer/better version of the same ape-character's story as leader of the apes vs. humans that is featured (differently) in "Conquest." "Battle" is not so great, but it does bring the story full circle, if you find yourself getting hooked on them, I'd watch all 5, but you really can enjoy the "Rise" movie without all that background. Personally, I think I enjoyed "Rise" more because I'm so familiar with the original movies. Tim Burton's movie is quite a different adaptation on the whole story--more a counterpart to the 1968 "Planet" (and based more directly on the original 1963 novel) than it is relevant to "Rise."

In what order should I watch the Planet of the Apes series?

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011 filmDawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014 filmWar for the Planet of the Apes (Theatrical release date 14 July 2017 — next week)

Should I start watching Planet of the Apes with the 2001 movie, or with the 2011 one?

Totally different timelines and the 2001 version was pretty bad so…. If you really wanted to see the 2001 version, it would technically be taking place at least 100 years after the three most recent Apes movies. So either way, you'd want to start with the latter trilogy.

In what order should I watch the Planet of the Apes movies?

In order.

Planet of the Apes
Beneath the Planet of the Apes
Escape from the Planet of the Apes
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Battle of the Planet of the Apes

Planet of the Apes Remake (SKIP IT)

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Which version of "Planet of the Apes" should I watch, the original (1968), or the 2001 release?

Watch 1968 film first. That old film much more better than new film. But in 1968 there is no larger equipment to make a film. Inspite of that 1968 film is better than 2001 version. As per Cast and crew also 1968 film is better than 2001 film. Kim Hunter, Roddy McDowell and Charlton Heston did their best for the movie. So I suggest old version to you. If you are a graphics lover then go with new. Thanks for the A2A.Cheers :-)

Do I need to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes before I see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes?

You don't need to, at least as long as you know the basic premise of the first movie. Dawn can viewed as a standalone movie because all significant references to the previous movie are explained clearly. However, it will definitely help to watch Rise before Dawn - the latter is a direct sequel, set a decade after the former. And the first movie is worth watching as well.

Do you need to see any of the other Planet of the Apes movies before seeing the new one?

It won't make a big difference. However I would suggest not watching Tim Burton's 2001 twisted version of "The Planet of The Apes". The original series of movies were way better even if their makeup and acting skills left a lot to be desired. The latest one is more of a prequel and acts more of a bridge to help us understand how the apes started evolving. It doesn't matter if you watch the original movies first followed by the prequel or vice versa.
