Which Vitamin Company Should I Buy From

Should I take a vitamin B complex?

The past year, my hair has nearly stopped growing, my nails have become brittle, and I am always tired and taking naps even after 11 hours of sleep. I've become very irritable...

I was reading about vitamin B complex, and I saw it helped these things. Should I take this? What is the best brand.
By the way, I am a 15 year old girl. I'm 5' and I weigh 95ish lbs

What Vitamin Brands are Best?

Truth be told, any answer given here will just be personal opinion (I can give you my opinion if you'd like). There are many higher quality companies out there that are readily available and well priced... just make sure the company has a good rating with either the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia), as those are the main quality assurance organizations (USP is for the U.S., GMP is for the U.S. and worldwide).

Most vitamins aren't available as organic... that's only the herbs and plants that are grown, plus the fact that certified organic jacks the price way up, too. However, when you find a good high-quality company, their products will likely be as close to organic as possible if they aren't specifically certified organic.
Store brands aren't always good, but that depends on the quality they get. You can ask the store clerk if they are GMP or USP certified... if they don't know, don't buy it. You could try calling the corporate office of the chain and ask about the rating if you really like the products and/or prices, though.

If they don't dissolve in a glass of water, that doesn't mean much of anything... there are many pills that specifically should NOT dissolve in water (usually coated tablets and softgels). The thing is, your stomach has more than water in it... your stomach acid is the equivalent of battery acid. Assuming you have enough acid in your stomach, it could eat through most things you can swallow. That whole line about dissolving in water is simply a marketing ploy for a few companies that might aim at uneducated people and/or elderly people who don't have much stomach acid.
Some of the "quick dissolving" tablets sometimes get stuck in the throat because they dissolve too fast with some saliva and end up absorbing the saliva that normally helps a pill to slide down your throat... that's why some have a coating that won't dissolve in water (like for larger tablets).

There are no prescription multivitamins (meaning one that's only available by prescription), although some doctors may recommend or prescribe a particular brand of OTC vitamins if they have a preference. Sometimes people may need a prescription level of a certain vitamin, which would be a super-mega dose... but those are only used for severe deficiencies because they would easily overdose a healthy person.

While I don't consider myself a "vitamin geek", I hope I helped ;-)

What is the best vitamin E oil brand?

Truth be told, any answer given here will just be personal opinion (I can give you my opinion if you'd like). There are many higher quality companies out there that are readily available and well priced... just make sure the company has a good rating with either the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia), as those are the main quality assurance organizations (USP is for the U.S., GMP is for the U.S. and worldwide). With that good quality, they should also sell the natural Vitamin E, which is d-alpha tocopherol (as opposed to the dl-alpha tocopherol, which is synthetic).

With that being said, the softgels would be much more potent and oftentimes more pure than the liquids, but it is more annoying and an inconvenience to break them open and apply them without making too big of a mess. If it's worth the hassle to you, it's a much better option to open the pills and use them topically.
As far as clogging the pores, it shouldn't (although some creams may be thicker). Make sure you wash your face daily and rub the oil in for the best effects and minimal problems. Also, I would make sure not to use more than 1 or 2 of the 400IU doses daily (only 1 if you take a multivitamin) as Vitamin E is fat soluble and can build up to toxic levels. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Which is the best multivitamin brand available in India, I'm a 29 year old male?

Glaxos becadexamin is cheap and best.(supradyn is not bad either). It cost rs 25 for 30 softgels. Do not go for revital or healthviva especially healthviva. Revital cost 10 times because somehow it is termed as daily health supplement which saves it from price control. Because multivitamins come under essential medicines and their price is controlled by government also ginseng and salman khan add to it's price. Its not mentioned what type of ginseng is used in revital(it must be white which is cheaper). You can buy quality red Korean/Chinese ginseng online separately which are anti stress relievers. Shilajit/ashwagandha of brands like Himalaya, patanjali etc are cheaper and good alternatives.but you should only use in case of stress or if you workout heavy.Chemist will always push you to buy branded costlier multivitamins because he gets better margin on them. But still there are some essential minerals lacking in quantity in all these brands like magnesium. In foreign brands Costco kirkland, Swanson provide value for your money. Amway uses natural sources for vitamins in their tablets. But last not the least balanced diet is best multivitamins. If you are already getting all necessary stuff from diet than vitamins are of no use. Even sometimes overdoses of zinc, vit a,iron etc can harm you. Sometimes there is insufficiency of only one or two vitamin mineral and we unnecessarily take others. For example for spots on skin vit e is needed. For lesser HB only iron and bcomplex is needed. For weak central nervous system b12 is needed. If you already have HB like 14–15 then iron in multivitamins might harm you.similar is true for othERS.

What major pharmaceutical companies manufacture vitamins and supplements?

Traditionally not so.....but in terms of jumping on the bandwagon of acquisitions....looks to be so.. Read this:
http://www.iahf.com/world/biotech.html

Excerpts.....

"After years of watching the natural products industry, the same pharmaceutical companies that brought us Tagamet®, Robitussin® and Pamprin® are venturing inside."

"To date, more than two dozen pharmaceutical companies have ventured into this uncharted territory (see "Pharmaceuticals Crossing Over Into Supplements," page 148). Some are waving fistfuls of dollars at supplement companies for acquisitions"

Also:

"Some of these pharmaceutical giants are changing the way business is done by mixing the principles of natural medicine with conventional drug manufacturing processes. The resulting products could blur the lines between pharmaceuticals and supplements. "

.........quoted verbatim.

An excerpt:

"The multinationals are very busy right now setting up the mechanisms to STEAL our herbs, and to turn them into "drugs" which they want to sell back to us at exhorbitant prices, much as they already are in Norway where the takeover has already proceeded."

Worrying!

Salaams.
