Which Would Be A Better Part Time Job With College

Is it better to have a part-time job as a college student?

It's extremely difficult to work full-time and attend college full-time. You really have to do one or the other part-time. Even that's not easy.

Make sure you schedule yourself with care, and try to be sure that your job has regular hours, so you can block out other hours for studying. You need to know in advance exactly what you are going to be doing when. Keep a running schedule of when tests take place and when projects are due, so you can do a lot of advance planning. You can manage a part-time job and a full-time college schedule if you stay on top of everything with careful planning.

How can a 20 get a better job with no college?

Because of past family issues, I was basically forced into moving and having to work right out of highschool. I am now in a position where I am working 3 part time jobs (all 3 which are giving little hours due to hiring so many people for holiday, but 2 were offered to me), cannot go to school, and am still without any money to move forward.

I want a full time job to where I can actually pay my bills, save money, and get a car so I dont have to rely on public transit or other people (cause my bus run very limitedly). I also think having a car will help my opportunities as well.

I dont have time nor money to go to college, and I cant get financial aid because Im 20 and have to apply under a parent, which I dont talk to either and cant get the needed tax information. I was told unless my parents are dead that I HAVE to apply under them, which I dont think is fair.

I feel like Im at a dead end and will be spreading myself way too thin come holiday rush. Last year, when I had two jobs for holiday, I worked 2 months straight which resulted in me not getting enough sleep and vomited the weekend before Christmas because I was so stressed out. And all this and im barely affording bills.

I really want a job that I can make into a career, where I can afford bills and save money and eventually move out on my own. I understand that the economy is rough still, but I know it is still possible.

What would be a good part time job for a part time college student?

I'm forced to do part time school instead of full time because of my unsatisfactory performance as of late. (whole other story) Due to this I can't work on campus. I have been unemployed for a year. I want to get a part time job instead of full time so I can focus on bringing up my grades. I live at home but my parents don't want to pay for anything non school and food/shelter related and have to support me, my brother and other family members.

So to take the burden off of them and become more independent I want a part time job. I have done retail and sales before and am looking for something better suited to my personality that will at least cover transportation and essentials.

I live in a large metropolitan area, I am horrible at math, but good at writing, history and retaining facts. I don't do well in fast paced environments and can't deal with irate customers anymore.
I wanted to major in Cybersecurity.

I was thinking:
Pharmacy Tech (I could get certified but I'm worried about the math)
Administrative Assistant
Receptionist
Host (at a slower restaurant)

???
Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated. Thank You.

Should I get a part-time job during college?

Yes, I absolutely would suggest getting a part time job in college. You might first look into some on-campus options. If there is work-study available, and you quality, it might be possible to get a job that allows you to study while at work. Minimally, the job would be on campus so it wouldn't be inconvenient. Your hours would also be limited so you could still remain focused. The downside to this is you will most likely make minimum wage.

I worked as a server throughout college. I worked 15 hours a week, then upped it to 35 in the summer. My senior year I was able to work more because I consolidated my classes to only 3 days a week. As long as school is your first priority, you will be fine. If the job starts to interfere with your studies, you can always quit. You will need to be making money though throughout college for spending and to pay off student loans when you get out. Even if you come out with little or no debt, having money saved for a place to live is essential.

Ease your way into everything. Perhaps wait until second semester of your freshman year to get a job just so that you can get acquainted with your new environment. Work full time over the summer if possible; and internship would be even better (even if unpaid).

Good luck.

I guess it would depend which job you would be full time. You don't need a college degree to work in a lot of jobs. The downside of those jobs is that everyone can work on them and so the competition is big. The pay is also really low.The pay would be almost the same with a college degree but there are some better paid jobs where you need at least a college degree. You have to consider also that there's a lot of social pressure when you don't have a college degree. (People thinking you're stupid)You could also do both.

I totally vote for two part-time jobs. I’ve worked both ways and have found that working one full time job (salaried) I always tend to work longer hours, have more responsibilities, and more stress. I also found the mundanities of the typical 8–5, a bore.I quickly realized that the typical workday, 40 hour week, was not for me. So I went out looking for two stress-free part time jobs that suited my daily needs. I now work an office job from 10–2 M-F, and at a wellness spa in the evenings and weekends. These jobs are polar opposites. I sit in a cubicle tapping away at the computer on the first, and at the spa it’s social and fun. Another bonus is they are both within a mile from my house.I make about $2k less a year with my 2 part time jobs than I did with my full time job, but the difference in my life is huge. I’m so much happier and I have my favorite hours of the day open.Major benefits I’ve found in working 2 part time jobs as opposed to 1 full time:Rarely Bored - I’m not anywhere for too long to go nuts.Job Security - If I lose one job, I still have the other.Job Supply - The demand for good part time workers is high, and the supply for workers is low.My Clock -I’m not a slave to someone else’s clock. I pick the job based on the schedule and only if it works for me.No Stress - I go to work, I leave, done. If it doesn’t work out, I find another.Good Pay - Negotiating a higher hourly rate is easy if you are a strong candidate (good part time workers are hard to find)Enjoy Life - I have my favorite times of the day open to do what I want and plenty of time for exercise. Here are some tips on finding the right part time job(s):Be Selective - Stay close to home, and find something you know you will enjoy.Negotiate - Negotiate your hours and your pay to suit you (especially if you are overqualified)Downsize and Adapt - Be open to changing your life to live on less. Happiness and personal freedom is more important than $!YOLO!
