How far can you take the Nintendo Switch before it loses its connection with the console?

I imagine the original asker is trolling, or literally did no research into the Switch. The Switch can be played on its own, when removed from its dock. They tell you all you need to know in their trailers. You could say, it’s ability to be played without the TV was influenced by people being unable to use their TV, i.e a family member wants to use it. But I’d say there are a great many reasons, such as, wanting to play in your living room for a while, then leave and play on your bed. Or go hangout with friends and play, like a DS system. The system was designed with the Japanese, European and North American markets in mind. Japanese people tend to take gaming on the go, while westerners play mostly at home, on their television. The Switches dock increases it’s resolution, but it’s really unnoticeable since the portable console will only be a foot or so away from your face normally. There are a lot of ways to use the Switch, mostly the differences are where the Joy cons are placed.I guess I should add that: You can take the Switch any distance away from (The dock) Since what you take with you, is, the main console.

What are your opinions on Nintendo making switch online services cost money?

I have seen many positive answers saying “this is finally happening.” or “it should be a thing from the first place”. I give you guys credit and all of you have really good points to be honest but there is also the other side if the coin. I really understand the part that there are also people running servers etc. but still I have to speak for myself and others like me.I live in a country where we pay ridiculously high amounts of money to buy games and consoles. It is really hard even for the people who can afford them and impossible for the most. We have to save ridiculous amount of money just to buy a single game. Think of Splatoon 2 for instance. I've got a friend that freaks for the game and she had to pay so much for buying both switch and the game. The game has no offline content and she was able to play it just by buying the game. A game that contains no offline content. Now she cant play the game due to this. You might say it's just 20 bucks a year. Yeah it is a fair price if we were using dolar as currency. 20 bucks is equal to 125 liras for us a year.I know economics are not fair and it is aweird thing but it is a bit much for a service like that, plus we were able to play for free which hurts even more. Just think of paying 125 dolars to get the online service. Not so fair right?Sad thing is we can't do anything about it. They won't adjust the prices of course.

Why would any PlayStation owner buy a Nintendo Switch over a PS Vita now that remote playing has been introduced on PS Vita?

Remote play was a great idea on paper however Sony abandoned the vita not long after its release and I believe it has either been formally discontinued or will be next year. The Vita platform never took off partially because Sony never really backed it much like their VR platform. The switch is a revolutionary system that will cause MS and Sony to consider adding true portability to future systems. Key word is consider. The ability to take the switch and all of its full, console, retail games on the go is amazing. The system has 100% functionality without the dock. The only difference is 720p vs 1080p.People want Nintendo for the exclusives and because it keeps the kids from hogging the PlayStation all day.If Sony were as serious about Remote Play as they once acted then they would be studying the switch and looking at ways to make a PS handheld capable of playing retail console games.By the end of 2018 the switch library will be equal to the 5-year old Vita library and within 2 years it will dwarf it. It’s also nearly impossible to find a Vita at retail and used ones still go for $150-$175 around me. Not worth it unless you can find one for $50.

Can I play Nintendo Switch games without the Internet?

Yes

Why doesn't Nintendo build a console that is capable of playing big online (and offline) AAA games with high resolutions and frame rates?

Nintendo did not make a powerful console because they know that that is not the best way to compete in the market. If you focus on power you are forced to compete directly with Sony, Microsoft and most importantly the PC market. Generally speaking most people will only own either a PC, Playstation or Xbox but by making the Switch unique and different Nintendo stand alone as a second system.Sure you will use your main system to play the newest Assassin’s Creed or Call of Duty in 4k, 200 FPS but what if you want something to play on the train to work? What if you want fun and simple party games? What if you want access to some of the most unique and polished first party titles in the world? Then you need to get yourself a Switch. The Switch does what the other systems can’t rather than trying to beat them at their own game.Nintendo also know that you are coming to them for the games they make and since none of their big franchises focus on photo realistic graphics they don’t need a ton of raw power. Their strong art direction and love of stylised graphics means that their games look great while needing less power. The Wii was basically an overclocked Gamecube but Super Mario Galaxy has aged better than almost any other game from the same time. Mario Kart on the Wii U runs at 1080p 60FPS which even the PS4 and the Xbox One struggle to achieve.Nintendo’s success has always been in selling people unique, quality, interesting experiences while letting the others fight over who has the biggest numbers.

Why is the Nintendo Switch making you pay for multiplayer even though there is WiFi?

This is a way for you to keep supporting the company so that they can keep providing you updates, keep their own servers running, and so forth. Maintenance cost is not cheap, especially when you’re hosting tens to more of millions of people on your servers. You might have your own wifi, but that doesn’t cover their server costs at all, and you’re still connecting to THEIR servers.

Is it better to turn off your Nintendo switch or leave it in sleep mode?

Use sleep mode when it’s in the dock or on a power cord, or when it’s unpowered but going to be asleep for less than a day or two. That’s about how long the battery lasts when sleeping with wifi enabled. If it’s going to be unused and unpowered for longer than a couple of days, it’s worth manually powering down. This saves a complete battery drain and recharge cycle.Mine has an annoying habit after it hits zero - it won’t recharge except in the dock. I’ve tried many other USB chargers 5 to 85W, all charge fine if the Switch has juice already but fails when it’s at zero.

Does cellular data cost money if I keep it on while using wifi on my iPhone(T-mobile)?

I'm assuming cellular data means having Internet when there's no wifi? Will it still charge me money if I keep it on while using Wifi? I pay $20 each month for my Internet btw.
