Who is the greatest actor of all time?

If we look at total amount of Academy Award won in an acting category than a number of options arise. With 4 Academy Awards actress Katharine Hepburn is the most winningest actor/actress.With 3 Academy Awards are Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Ingrid Bergman, Daniel Day-Lewis and Walter Brennan.Of those listed, Meryl Streep has a total of 19 nominations, Nicholson has 12.[1] If we look at the highest grossing actors, those that are present in movies that make a lot of money, than Harrison Ford with over $4.8 billion comes out on top. Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks each with over $4.3 billion follow close behind.[2] Besides looking at money, or the controversial means by which winners are selected by the Academy, the best way to determine who may be the best actor or actress is to watch and enjoy as many films as possible and make the decision for yourself. Who is the best method actor of all time?

I would say Daniel Day-Lewis. He is highly selective, he has done only five films since 1998. Moreover, he has till now won 3 Oscars, making him the only one to win 3 awards in the Best Actor category. Here are some interesting facts regarding his method acting.He......learned to speak Czech for his role in The Unbearable Lightness of Being...had to be lifted around the set as he would never leave his wheelchair and insisted his meals be spoon-fed to him during My Left Foot...would only eat food he killed during Last of the Mohicans. He, of course, learned how to track, hunt and skin the animals....walked around New York City wearing a top hat and cane for two months while preparing for The Age of Innocence...spent nights locked in solitary confinement in the abandoned prison where they filmed In the Name of the Father...didn't bathe for the entirety of shooting The Crucible to get the feeling of what it was to live by 17th century standards...spent 18 months training to be a boxer for The Boxer...caught pneumonia while making Gangs of New York because he refused to wear a toasty modern coat because it wasn't in keeping with the period....moved out of his house and arranged to live separately from his wife (and director and co-star) in order to experience the isolation of his character's life in an island commune in preparation for The Ballad Of Jack And Rose....scared off Kel O'Neill from There Will be Blood after O'Neill claimed "Day-Lewis' character Plainview was just too intense for him to work alongside day after day." Paul Dano replaced him.Source: Ten Facts about Daniel Day-Lewis' Method Acting Preparations | Rope of Silicon

Is Al Pacino the best actor of all time?

If love please subscribe to my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/...In my opinion, he's a brilliant stage and screen actor, who has had a long career in which he's consistently delivered. So I wouldn't call him over-rated.His work in "Dog Day Afternoon" is extraordinary to me, as is his collaboration in the Godfather movies. He is always an extremely raw, very generous as an actor, showing terrific vulnerability. He's also talented comedically. This is clear in many of his "serious" performances ("Dog Day Afternoon," "Scent of a Woman," etc), but he surprised me by turning in an appropriately broad, comedic performance in "Dick Tracy," as the villain Big Boy Caprice. Until I saw it, I wouldn't have imagined he had that capacity.I saw him on stage when he played Teach in David Mamet's "American Buffalo." It's an extremely demanding, difficult role, and he was splendid in it.Pacino is equally gifted with language and with silent acting. I was impressed by his work in "Scent of a Woman," when he stopped talking and basically died on his feet. In the same film, he delivered a big speech in the end, with great timing and nuance, as if he was playing Shakespeare. One of his strengths is the ability to range from being domineering to extremely vulnerable in the same role, which is something many actors fail at doing. He believably takes his character in "The Godfather" from being the little brother to the mafia don. That was a bard bit of casting, and Pacino was the right guy for it.

Do you consider Christoph Waltz as one of the best actors of all time?

No, I don’t.Waltz is a very likeable actor who - relatively late in his career - has come to prominence by delivering some memorable roles. He has some distinctive line delivery and a mischievous twinkle in his eye.But one of the greatest actors of all time? Not even remotely.Even among current actors, he’s competing with the likes of Ian McKellen, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Leonardo di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Daniel Day Lewis, Anthony Hopkins, Nicole Kidman or Eddie Redmayne, to name just a few actors who I would regard as objectively better than Waltz in terms of the breadth of roles they’ve tackled and their acting range. And that’s without considering some of the greats of earlier generations - Olivier, Gielgud, Welles, Guinness - take your pick.I don’t have anything against Christoph Waltz; I really like watching his performances. But it’s hyperbole to suggest that he’s more than just a very enjoyable character actor. But why does it matter anyway? The obsession with “who’s the greatest?” in subjective fields is a bit silly. What matters is whether a given actor makes a role work, and Waltz has largely done that for the roles he’s been cast in. It would be good to see him cast in a wider range of them.
