Who Can I Trade Justin Verlander For

Why did Kate Upton dump Justin Verlander?

Justin Verlander (Detroit Tigers) has been pitching very lousy over the past couple months. He was excellent right up to the time Kate Upton broke up with him. But why did she do that? Did she feel that he wasn't good enough for him? We know she's obviously a gold digger, but what more did she want? He's worth millions, and he could give her anything she wants.

Are wins the most overrated stat for a pitcher ?

Brian Kenny for the MLB Network thinks we should get rid of the "win" in regards to pitchers.

For example, 33 pitchers currently have more wins than the great Matt Harvey. Isn't it silly to even look at wins when assessing how good a pitcher truly is?

Do we look at wins for relievers? Or do we see if they're getting guys out and preventing runs from scoring? Why don't we do the same with starters?

Isn't a pitchers job to get outs and prevent runs from scoring?

Matt Harvey has been the second best pitcher in baseball, yet 33 pitchers have more W's than him. Weird, right?

I remember a few years ago when Felix won the Cy Young over CC and how much outrage there was with some users in this section. They felt CC deserved it because "you play to win the game."

That argument is silly now, right?

Take Scherzer for example. He's been great. But has he really been FIVE wins better than Harvey? Chris Tillman has FOUR more wins than Harvey. Just crazy!

Do you know there's been instances where a pitcher literally didn't even throw a pitch but got the win? That alone just shows how ridiculous wins are.

Your thoughts?

Why are the detroit tigers bad and what can happen to get them better?

they can't hit and their lineup sucks

What would the Texas Rangers have to give the Los Angeles Dodgers for Clayton Kershaw?

Texas Roster/Contract Status:http://www.baseball-reference.co...Dodgers Roster/Contract Status: http://www.baseball-reference.co...Kershaw is 23.  He won't see free agency until 2015; the Dodgers have him/control him for the next three years in arbitration.  There is no way the Dodgers wheel him for anything but a ton of young, impact players.Keep in mind: the Dodgers top four starters were Kershaw (23), Billingsley (26), Lilly (35) and Kuroda (36).  They already need more young starters -- so it seems crazy they would deal a pitching Triple Crown Winner, age 23, that they control through 2015!  Kershaw might be Sandy Koufax 1962 here, about to go on a five year rampage through the NL.Yes, the Dodgers need offense; yes, Texas needs a #1 starter (especially if C.J. Wilson leaves, after Cliff Lee bolted last season).Texas scored 855 runs this season, and surrendered 677.  In theory, that's a surplus of offense from which to deal. Here's the problem: the big guys on the Texas offense aren't young (other than Michael "Young" -- who isn't young in age, he's 34).At the end of the World Series, here are the ages of the big bats in TX:Michael Young, 34Adrian Beltre, 32Josh Hamilton, 30Nelson Cruz, 30Ian Kinsler, 29Mike Napoli, 29David Murphy, 29.So.. none of these guys are young players at all; in fact, all of them are past their age-27 season, and so can be expected to begin a decline on the second half of their careers.Texas has young studs -- especially pitchers. The best young offensive prospect on the team is Elvis Andrus, age 22, who is arbitration controllable until 2015 (thus, inexpensive).  The best young pitching prospects for Texas are Neftali Perez, 23; Derek Holland, 24 (both controllable via arbitration until 2016); Matt Harrison, 25 (controllable through 2015); and Alexi Ogando (controllable through 2017).The problem is.. why would the Dodgers trade Kershaw for young pitching and a young star shortstop, when they already have a young pitcher (Kershaw, 23) and young impact shortstop (Dee Gordon - 23: http://www.baseball-reference.co...).I can't speak eloquently to either system's minor league stars -- other Quorans will know.  There are better seamheads on Quora -- sent this to a few all-stars, including Steve Oh, Joel Lewenstein and Nicholas Saint ... Semil Shah and Benjamin Donabedian, Jonathan Brill, etc. these guys are the middle of the Quora MLB lineup.  I'm a bench player. But I swung anyway here, for fun.

Is it true that Dontrelle Willis has six fingers on both hands?

Alfonseca's condition is known as polydactyly, and it does not bother him. Here's more about it, along with a picture showing the vestigial sixth finger on his left hand (it's hard to see the one on his right due to the angle): http://www.hinsdale86.org/staff/kgabric/...

What MLB trade was most ridiculed at the time but turned out to be a steal for the ridiculed team?

The classic answer to this question is the Brock - Broglio trade of 1964.The Cubs thought they were getting a great deal: they were getting a haul from the Cardinals that included pitchers Ernie Broglio, a 21-game winner in 1960, and crafty veteran Bobby Shantz (the 1952 AL MVP) in exchange for unheralded right fielder Lou Brock. (There were a few other players involved but those were the principals.)Unfortunately for the Cubs, Broglio damaged his ulnar nerve, had surgery during the offseason and was never the same again. He went just 7–19, 5.40 for the Cubs before retiring at age 30. Meanwhile Brock blossomed into a star in St. Louis. At the time of the trade (6/15/64) the Cardinals were 28–31, 7 games behind the Phillies; with Brock they went 65–38 and went on to win the NL pennant and the World Series. Brock batted .348 with .387 OBP and scored 81 runs in 103 games for the Cardinals.Brock of course went on to have a Hall of Fame career, leading the NL in stolen bases eight times and amassing 3023 hits. It’s easy to pick apart Brock’s career and call him overrated - he was really poor defensively, had a horrid walk-to-strikeout ratio for a leadoff man, etc. But the Cardinals got a Hall of Famer in exchange for a pitcher who was on his way out of the league and a 40-year old junkballer.

Do you think the Astros could be cheating?

Cleveland Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer's tweeting, we're left to wonder if the Astros' rotation is legit.Bauer accused Astros pitching of doctoring baseballs to increase the spin rate of fastballs, which can lead a rising fastball effect and more swings and misses. Referring to the Astros, Bauer tweeted, ""If only there was just a really quick way to increase spin rate. Like what if you could trade for a player knowing that you could bump his spin rate a couple hundred rpm overnight...imagine the steals you could get on the trade market! If only that existed ..."Click Here: Get Your Cheap Houston Astros TicketsThe Yankees' take on this?Manager Aaron Boone smiled when he was asked about Bauer's accusations before Tuesday's Yankees-Astros game."I don't know," Boone said. "I don't get into Twitter wars anymore. I don't read that much into it. Guys use stuff to try and help with grip, but I don't think anything in my view fishy is going on."Through Monday, Astros starters were 15-6 with a MLB-best 2.44 ERA in 30 games. The Red Sox were second with a 3.26 ERA that was almost a run per game higher than the Astros, whose rotation includes Justin Verlander (4-0, 1.36), Dallas Keuchel (1-4, 4.00), Morton (4-0, 1.72), Gerrit Cole (2-1, 1.73) and Lance McCullers Jr. (4-1, 3.71)."I think you also have to give credit where credit is due," Boone said. "This organization has been really good at taking talented guys and helping them go to another level. In Verlander's case, a guy that was on a Hall of Fame track and pitching OK, and then he got (traded to Houston last August) and got reinvigorated. He has pitched really well."I don't read much into it other than that they're really good at game planning over here, they're really good at addressing inefficiencies or enhancing what guys do really well. They've done a really good job of getting the most out of all their players."

Does Max Scherzer have a glass eye?

He has heterochromia iridis, his eye either has to much or to less of melanin. The amount of melanin determines the color of someones eye. Quite interesting.
