Who Fixes Trunk Locks

How do you fix a stuck trunk?

I have a 1996 Corolla and the trunk is stuck. I have a trunk open button on my alarm remote. I tried the remote, didn't work. I tried the pull handle beside the driver side, didn't work. I tried to put my keys in the trunk hole, wouldn't even turn. I tried lifting up the trunk while pressing the open button, didn't work. I think what caused this to get stuck is because I probably slammed the trunk too hard. But that's the best I can guess, I don't even know if that was the cause. Can anyone tell me what I can and should do?

How much does it cost to get your trunk fixed?

If you do it your self and go to the wrecker you can get a new locking latch assembly for a 10 bucks or so. If you have no key a lock smith can make you one call a lock smith to see. A latch is two to three bolts so its not hard.
If you go to a shop it varies a lot more.

I have a problem with the trunk of my car. It doesn't lock. How can I fix that without going to a mechanic?

If it's power locks it can be many different things as you would need a dealer level scan tool, complex cars get these days. It could be the motor actuator, ecu problem, relay problem, wiring problem, latch problem and so on. To really fix something, you have to identify and properly diagnose the problem as you can't just guess and start throwing new parts on.

The trunk of my Jeep Patriot won’t lock, how should I go about fixing it?

Depends on what “won’t lock” actually means. If you mean it latches but won’t lock like when the rest of the doors are locked, then that might be a faulty door latch or wiring to the door latch (signal wire telling it to lock). If it won’t latch at all, then that means the door latch is either seized and needs lubricated to free it up or the internal components of the latch are broken and the latch needs to be replaced.I’d imagine you could find these parts at a junk yard for relatively cheap, I’m not aware of any rusting issues with rear hatches on Patriots (unlike Grand Cherokees in the past, where people would scavenge the entire rear hatch off junk ones) so if there is a Patriot in the junk yard, it’ll likely have the hatch door still. Probably worth taking it to a mechanic to have them check it out and diagnose it.

The trunk won't close on my Saturn. What can I do to fix the latch?

bring it in to saturn or else you will just make it worse.

My car's trunk lock is locked, and neither of my two keys work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You have moved the truck lock into the locked position. Normally the trunk is closed, but not locked, so that it can be opened via the trunk release.

There are two reasons your keys are not opening the trunk. Either you are not turning the key all the way to the unlatched position (it should click twice), or you are using a valet key. A valet key will only work in the ignition and door latches, but not the trunk. Valet keys usually are missing the black rubber top, showing all metal.

PS - you can get a replacement key by going to the dealer with your VIN number.

My trunk latch is stuck 'closed' but is open, and won't latch. How do I trip the the latch to function again?

Put the key in the trunk lock and turn it to open and hold it. Then take a screwdriver and put it in the latch and pull down on it to open the latch up. Same thing for a door latch in the same situation.

How can I fix the power locks on my 2007 Dodge Charger RT?

On a positive note, it doesnt seem any ofbthe switches are bad, however it might be good to check the relay it belongs to i did a short search on the net, but nothing popped up at me.I would look at the manual in the fuse/relay section, find out which one it is. While either listening carefully or keeping a finger on it, uou shoukd hear/feel a click when the switch is pushed. But also make sure whatever relay piece it might be also lists the trunk popper/opener.If you dig around and find out its all controlled bybthe computer, unplug the battery for about 10 minutes, and see if anything changes (yes this technique has worked for some of the weirdest things in the past, like the soor locks on my wives Honda years ago. Hopefully it can also be a relay, I would start there.Goodvthing is you dont have to go replacing a bunch of door switches.

How to fix the trunk of a 2001 Dodge Neon after emergency latch was pulled?

I would bet that the latch is in the closed position still. look at the latch on the trunk lid and look where the latch locks on to the trunk. the latch has a c shaped metal piece that pivots around part on the bottom to lock the trunk closed. My guess is that the c shaped part is in the locked position and when you try to close the trunk the lock blocks it. sort of like trying to close the door on your house with the deadbolt lock sticking out. pull the emergency release again and use a small screwdriver to flick the latch open.

I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla. My trunk is stuck closed and it can't be opened either with the key or lever near the driver's seat. How can I get into the trunk without breaking the lock?

Some car rear seats that don’t fold down only had brace bars across the back, so in many of my older cars I could remove the back portion of the rear seats and crawl inside the trunk to release the lid. An old 1982 Audi 5000S had a full plate of steel across the back seats, and the entire vehicle locking mechanism was driven by a vacuum pump in the trunk underneath the spare tire. When the pump wouldn’t work properly or failed, and it was typical to happen, you couldn’t open or close any doors or the trunk, so I was going to go through a supposed hole in the rear seats where the flip-down armrests where. but it was solid. I removed the seats and verified the sheet metal across the entire rear. All I could do was cut a square hole in the sheet metal big enough to crawl through and open the trunk mechanism by hand as it had no rear trunk keylock mechanism hole and the release handle only worked once the pump had cycled it to unlocked position.
