Who Gets Paid More. Primary School Receptionists Or Secretaries And What Time Are Each Done Work

Would YOU hire an 18 year old receptionist?

I am not a lawyer but I am a paralegal. I will answer your question honestly. No. I would not hire a recent high school grad with no college/business school education and very little experience. First of all, there are plenty of college grads that will do that job, and for nearly minimum wage. Second, customers do not like seeing very young office staff. Also, when you go to college and trade schools, you get the training you will need to perform these functions. There are not many jobs where the description is solely answering the phone or filing. In many cases, you need education just to have a switchboard job.

ALSO I would never hire a {Suspended} Bondgirl

Your name gives a very unprofessional vibe.

Just being honest :)

Should I change my job from secretary to waitress?

Oh helllll no. Chances are you have BENEFITS (at least partially paid insurance, paid holidays, vacation time) that some wait staff don't get not to mention that in the clerical field you can often work your way up (receptionist, admin, executive admin, admin manager, etc) whereas that is not often the case in waitressing. Last but not least waitresses are so often disrespected by the public.

It's your life but I definately wouldn't make the switch.

Why are some receptionists/secretaries so rude?

my mother and i both had problems with the same lady and the oral surgens office. i was the first one to talk to her and then told my mother how rude she was saying "this is the 3rd time you are trying to set up something....other people really want to get in here" all i could think of was if they really needed to get in there then they would schedual it.

then on the day of consultation this lady was rude to us again. my mother nor i didn't sigh a paper and she went off on us. we didn't sign it because we didn't get the information yet about it. and she goes "i guarentee you that by the end of the day you will know what you need to know"
then on the day of my sergery i left my class at the local university and the car wouldn't start. so i called my mothers work but she wasn't there so the lady there gave me the doctor's number so i call for my mom...the same lady goes "you know you should be here now" i go no kidding...my car won't start and i'm seeing if mom is there.

Why is it that I can't recall ever having seen a male receptionist in all of the many doctors offices I've visited?

It has a lot to do with the doctor hiring his spouse to be his office person until he is established. Then, he may hire another woman. Males just don’t flock to these types of jobs that are thought of to be a woman’s job. My son, as an orthopedist, had a male nurse in his office who at first handled a lot of his office work besides his nursing duties. But, as he got busier and needed his male nurse more to follow him, he hired females to be his receptionist. In our society, we just expect for the male to earn more money and some jobs are still thought of as women’s work. I think it has more to do with this idea than anything. It is a cultural thing!!And to the person who said she has never had a male receptionist help her, I haven’t either. Even in the hospital, the unit secretary is a woman or one of the female nurses doing double duty. Rarely, have I seen a male nurse doing this job either. The charge nurse may be a male and at midnight when the secretary goes home, he may double duty in this job, but not as a regular job for him.

How to become a Secretary?

HI, I'm a Sophomore in High school and I've been doing a lot of thinking and research on what I want for a job when I'm finished with school. And I've came to decide being a Secretary is not only something I would do well at but it also seems to be a good paying job. I really want to learn more about this career. As far is getting a job as a Secretary at an Doctor's office or anything like that.

Can you please tell me the Pay, hours, requirements and how to pursue this career?

Thanks so much. :)

Is anyone a secretary or administrative assistant?

If so, how do you like your job?

What made you decide to go into this field?

What's the best part about your job?

Your least favorite?

Do you feel your are underpaid, overpaid, or paid pretty well?

Would you change your field?

if so, can I possibly e-mail you to ask further questions regarding your job? I'm doing an occupation research project and this is the field I am seeking, thank you so much!!

Why mostly gals are secretaries than guys ?

Because secretaries need to be more disciplined than adventurous, detailed than gross, meticulous than broad, sensitive than pensive, caring than bold, focused than overseeing and sincere than questioning etc. etc. Women have naturally as well as through social customs and practices developed these requisites over centuries due to the role of mother and housewife traditionally allotted to them. Nevertheless, the times are changing and as women are taking up roles outside the home, they are developing differently and I believe that over the next two decades, women would not be automatically presumed to be the better option for the job of an efficient secretary..... already, in high Government and business jobs, the top secretary posts are almost equally divided between male and female incumbents negating the argument of any gender based influence in efficiency. The corollary is equally true..... more and more women are these days taking up responsible higher decision-making and wider influence jobs and performing as efficiently as their male counterparts, if not even better!!
