Who Has Read This Book

Who has read the most books?

Chandra Mohan Jain (better known as Acharya Rajneesh or simply OSHO), a Indian spiritual leader active in 1970’s and 80’s, claimed to have read over 150,000 books. My modest estimates, if we assume he read continuously for 60 years (He lived 70), it comes out to be 2,500 books a year. And the books he read are not some airy-fairy stuff, they are deep. Pretty unbelievable, but I’ve come across people on Quora who read 3,000 books a year.Well, I am an avid reader myself but this is superhuman stuff ;)

What is the most widely read book?

Given all the hype surrounding E.L. James's "Fifty Shades Of Grey," you might think that's the most popular book in the world. But you'd be wrong. The most read book in the world is the Bible.Writer James Chapman created a list of the most read books in the world based on the number of copies each book sold over the last 50 years. He found that the Bible far outsold any other book, with a whopping 3.9 billion copies sold over the last 50 years. "Quotations from the Works of Mao Tse-tung" came in second with 820 million copies sold, and "Harry Potter" came in third with 400 million copies sold.Designer Jared Fanning created an infographic (below) on the most read books in the world, based on Chapman's research.MOST POPULAR BOOKS OF ALL TIME?It’s not exactly a ripping yarn, but the Koran is the most popular book of all time. The religious text has been translated into 50 different languages, has nearly 400 editions and more than three billion copies have been printed. The King James Bible is a close runner up, with 2.5 billion copies to its name.In third place is Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-tung.Harry Potter (the entire series, which you could say is kind of cheating) makes it into fifth place, while wildcard The Very Hungry Caterpillar slides into the list among the weighty tomes with 30m copies sold.

What is the most books read by one person?

It is said that Giovanni Pico della Mirandola - Wikipedia at the 15th century had read all the books ever published. You could not do that nowadays with about a million books published every year. He was my hero when I was a teenager; he died poisoned, that has been discovered recently: A Renaissance Murder MysteryI think that I remember reading that the Poet Rainer Maria Rilke said he had read everything and it was contested, but of course he meant that he had everything of interest to him.I am not even there yet!I have read somewhere between 3500 and 5000 books, but that is just the advantage of being very old, plus being born in a time and place where there was no permission to go out and no television. If we mean just great books, fiction and non-fiction, probably around a thousand.

Anyone who has read the book Kidnapped?

1. Breck displays an arrogance after the fight that displeases David deeply. What does Alan say and/or do that troubles David? What is David to do with the "keepsake" Alan gives him?

2. In Chapter 12, we learn more about the historical web in which Stevenson spun this story. Who is the "Red Fox"? Who is Ardshiel? Why does Alan despise them? What is a Whig and why does Alan consider David to be one?

3. Explain the context and meaning of the following quote.
"His brig was like a wife and child to him; he had looked on, day by day, at the mishandling of poor Ransome; but when it came to the brig, he seemed to suffer along with her." (p.105)

4. David is marooned for over four days on a rocky isle he had come to land upon. Countless times David feared dying miserably alone. He felt numb from the chilly rains and nauseated from his diet of raw shellfish. Yet David only breaks down and despairs once. What nurtured his hope during those many lonely hours of wretchedness? Please be specific in your response.

5. In chapter 15, David meets a character very much like the "blind guide" Jesus condemns in Matthew 23:16-17. First, copy down the short passage from Scripture. Next, describe David's blind guide and tell how David relates to him. How do David and his guide part ways? How is David's blind guide like the Pharisee Jesus speaks out against?

What is the difference between, ‘I have read this book’ and ‘I read this book’?

Change in tenses and nothing more.I have read this book is in Present Perfect Tense, whereas the sentence ‘I read this book’ is Simple Present Tense. While the first one denotes completion of the job, that is reading, the second one i.e. ‘I read this book’ means the process is going on. But the past tense of the word read is read itself but pronounced ‘red'. In that context the sentence I read the book also means I had finished the book. Hope it is clear.

Which Game of Thrones actors read the books?

Emilia Clarke (Daenarys) has read the books, as did Ian McElhinney, who played Ser Barristan the Bold.  Others: Aidan Gillan (Littlefinger), Gwendolyn Christie (Brienne) and Ellie Kendrick (Meera).Actors who read some of the books: Alfie Allen (Theon),  Richard Madden (Robb), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), and Jon Bradley (Sam). Kit Harrington recently said he hasn't read ADWD, but he knew what would happen to Jon. He has read the other 4.Some actors choose not to read the books as they feel it interferes with their character development. Lena Headley (Cersei), Nicolaj Coster-Waldeu (Jaime), and Maisie Williams (Arya) have not read the books. That's all I know. I would really like to know if Stephan Dillane (Stannis) has read the books.Edit: Charles Dance did not read the books as noted in the comments. Apparently, the death of Tywin got spoiled for him, allegedly by a fan, and he was very disappointed.
