Who Is The Creator Of The Original James Bond Theme Tune

What songs sound like James Bond theme tunes but aren't?

Two (very successful!) songs from Germany that make heavy use of James Bond style melodies are these:Ivy Quainoo: Do you like what you seeA live version from 2012, shorter than the original single release. This lady won the first season of The Voice of Germany with this one; it would have been an awesome Bond title tune IMO:The official single version sounds even more Bondesque; due to shitty copyright laws in Germany it's not available on YouTube, but you can watch it here: http://www.the-voice-of-germany....Ich + Ich: Pflaster (meaning plaster or patch)Here in a live version from 2009; I programmed a starting point in the middle of the song, so you need to listen to 40 seconds only to get an idea of how Bondesque it is):

How many James Bond theme tunes have featured Shirley Bassey?

Who starred as James Bond in the original James Bond movie?

This is assuming that by original James Bond movie you mean the 1st James Bond movie. Keeping that in mind the 1st James Bond movie was Dr. No in 1963 starring the then relatively unknown Scottish actor Sean Connery as James Bond, Jack Lord as, in my opinion one of the best versions of Felix Leiter, Bernard Lee who would be called the very incarnation as M in one review, Lois Maxwell who would star as Moneypenny for the first fourteen James Bond movies, Peter Burton as Major Boothroyd (Q), Ursula Andress as one of the 1st Bond Girls namely Honey Ryder physically and Nikki Van Der Zyl as Honey Ryder vocally, and Joseph Wiseman as Dr. No.Many signature elements of future Bond movies was established with this film, including the looking down the barrel of a gun opening, theme song sequence, Bond Girls, Bond’s fondness for vodka martinis “shaken, not stirred”, and his introduction of himself as “Bond, James Bond.”In fact the original creator of James Bond, Ian Fleming though apprehensive at first of Sean Connery being the actor to star as James Bond was so impressed by Sean Connery’s acting that he later gave James Bond an a half-Scottish, half-Swiss heritage in later books.Sean Connery went on to appear in six more James Bond films, includingFrom Russia With Love (1963)Goldfinger (1964)Thunderball (1965)You Only Live Twice (1967)Diamonds Are Forever (1971)and Never Say Never Again (1983)

I really like James Bond's movie theme songs. They have a kind of peculiar characteristic to them. What genre do these theme songs belong to?

Soundtrack. Actually, I'm not being entirely flip with that. Motion picture title scores are a genre of their own, being of a particular, relatively short, length that sets the mood for the picture to come. That said, they owe much to the old studio fanfares even earlier in the reel. 20th Century Fox's you still hear on occasion. Many of the old scores, James Bond's familiar riff included, derive from Big Band music, which was an amalgamation of pop and jazz. The John Barry James Bond theme fits that description exactly, and it's a tribute to his acumen that the golden riff therein is a virtually Pavlovian incitement to thoughts of suave filmic spies. The separate themes written for each movie try to hew to that direction as well, but tend to remain within the scope of what each performer's musical category is. Thus Shirley Bassey: jazz, thus Nancy Sinatra and Paul McCartney, vocal pop. And the beat goes on...

What genre of music is the James Bond theme?

The version of “The James Bond Theme” as heard in Dr. No (and many subsequent 007 pictures) is actually the product of various musical influences and genres.Monty Norman, when he was hired to compose the original score for Dr. No, recalled a tune called “Good Side, Bad Side”, which he’d written for an un-produced musical years earlier.Despite the fact that “Good Side, Bad Side” was written in the style of traditional Indian music, the basic melody (when stripped of its ethnic trappings) really seemed to suit the character of James Bond, so Norman integrated it into his score for the film. However, the producers of Dr. No were unhappy with the title music Norman had provided, and turned to a popular young band leader (and up-and-coming film composer) named John Barry, to make a new arrangement of Norman’s tune for the film’s title sequence.Barry took Norman’s “Good Side, Bad Side” melody and assigned it to a bass guitar, which gave it the character of “surf sock” (which was popular at the time). Barry then embellished Norman’s tune with an elaborate arrangement in the “progressive jazz” style of Stan Kenton (Barry had taken a correspondence course with Bill Russo, who worked as an arranger for Kenton). So ultimately, the iconic tune that so perfectly suits the quintessential British spy, owes its style to Indian music, surf rock and American jazz.

What was the only theme song from a James Bond film to hit #1 on the U.S. pop singles charts?

Scarily the answer to this is…It remains the only James Bond theme song to have reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100; it also made it to number 2 for three weeks on the UK Singles Chart. In 1986, composer John Barry and Duran Duran were nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for "A View to a Kill".Not a bad song at all but these songs DIDN’T hit #1…Nobody Does it Better - Carly SimonLicence to Kill - Gladys KnightLive and Let Die - Paul McCartney & WingsThe Living Daylights - A-AhGoldfinger - Shirley Bassey

What kind of musical features do all the Bond film theme songs have in common?

Original question: What kind of musical features do all the Bond film theme songs have in common? All James Bond movie franchise theme songs or official soundtracks carry the signature “James Bond Theme” that was written by Monty Norman. It is the familiar “Dum Di-Di Dum Dum” sound that you hear in every Bond film soundtrack, rearranged in many ways by different music artists and composers over the years, allowing you to recognize that the film you are watching is unmistakably James Bond.Monty Norman’s jazz orchestra rendered a solo electric guitar at the beginning, then gradually accompanied by rising sound of brass instruments, saxophone, and engaging rhythm, and finally the whole ensemble joins in to create a full blown dynamic sound motif. To refresh your memory, here is the James Bond Theme that is always used in the Gun Barrel Sequence.(Video courtesy of phoenixandgreen)

What is your fav james bond theme song?

Diamonds are Forever by Dame Shirley Bassey.

What is your favourite James Bond theme song and why?

There have been lots of great Bond themes to like and a few that are not so memorable but what is my favourite so far? I like different songs for different reasons, so I’d have to approach a subjective question like that in Oscars style:Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey: Best Female Vocal Performance (this is a true classic Bond song, big, bold and classy, like the movie)Thunderball - Tom Jones: Best Male Vocal Performance (whilst its appeal is limited to the movie, it was good to see a powerful male voice belt out a Bond Title Sequence them song too)Skyfall by Adele: Best Original Song (actual Oscar winner, 2013. Although a bit melancholy, it is a beautiful song performed perfectly by a very talented artist)You Know My Name - Chris Cornell: Best Rock Theme (First Bond song sung by an American. It is a great rock tune that helped modernize Bond, but can you remember any of the lyrics?)A View to a Kill - Duran Duran: Best Pop Theme (catchy song that appealed beyond a Bond Title Sequence theme song, becoming a radio hit at the time of its release)…and now, the award for the Best James Bond Title Sequence Theme Song. And the award goes to…..Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney and Wings! (This song had it all. It was catchy, it had energy, I love the changes in pace, you can remember at least some of the lyrics - “When you were young, and your heart was an open book”, it suited the movie it was written for and it can be enjoyed it outside of a James Bond movie. Live and Let Die has had wide appeal and was one of Paul McCartney’s biggest hits post The Beatles)
