Who is the tallest player in the NFL?

Neil Russo is right about the three current guys in the league that are 6-9 elsewhere in this thread (Gaither, Roland, Dotson).Jeff Forbes notes the Pats Nate Solder is 6-8.There are a lot of 6-7 players -- especially at offensive tackle.NFL History -- best I could do here:QB Dan McGwire 6-8 (Mark's brother played for the Seahawks)RB Brandon Jacobs 6-4 (many RBs have been 6-3)WR Harold Carmichael 6-8TE Leonard Pope (current) is 6-8; Morris Stroud of the Chiefs was 6-9 in the late 1960sOL Jon Ogden was 6-9DE Ed Too Tall Jones was 6-9DT Richard Sligh was 7-0 for the 1967 Raiders but played (sparingly) only that yearLB Ted the Mad Stork Hendricks was 6-7 or 6-8CB Lenny Walls of Denver was 6-4.. can't imagine many CBs being tallerSligh is generally considered the tallest NFL player ever. The tallest GOOD players ever are 6-9 OT Jon Ogden, 6-9 DE Ed Too Tall Jones, and 6-7 (at least) OLB Ted Hendricks and 6-8 WR Harold Carmichael.I may be missing some players, but this is a decent starting list.

Has the NFL changed the rules in the past 40 years on defensive players being off sides?

It’s still perfectly legal for a defensive to enter the neutral zone, so long as he gets back onside before the ball is snapped. However, if an offensive reacts with a false start and, in the judgment of the officials that false start was caused by the defensive player’s movement into the neutral zone, it’s a “neutral zone infraction.” This is a fairly recent rule; I would guess it was adopted within the last 20 years or so, but I don’t know exactly when.

Is a Punter considered a offensive player or defensive player and please explain your reasoning?

Good question. Although the punter is listed as "special teams" he is part of the offensive squad. The punt is designed to move the ball farther downfield, which is an offensive play. As you know, a punt typically occurs on the offense's fourth down (with some exceptions). Once the ball is kicked and the receiving team fields the ball, he becomes a defender. But when he first lines up to receive the snap, he is on offense. The same could be said about any offensive player that commits a turnover. Once the turnover occurs, the offense becomes the defense.

How many NFL players are 70 or older and still play in the league?

I believe that Brett Farve is the only one.

Who is the heaviest player in the NFL in the 2018 season and what team does he play for?

Jeremy’s correct the honor goes to Trent Brown.Let me just add this:COMBINESTATS:40 Yard Dash5.29 SecsBench Press20.0 reps20 Yard Shuttle4.78 secsBroad Jump97.0 inchesVertical Jump23.5 inches3 Cone Drill8.23 secsThese stats let you know just how good of an athlete Mr. Brown is. 5.29 forty is very fast for a near 400 pound man. By comparison, my best hand timed forty is 4.25. Yeah I was a second faster than Brown, but he out weighs me by 210 lbs! I would be surprised if the average Quora reader could beat his time. It’s faster than you think.Secondly, he can get his massive bulk nearly 2 feet off of the ground! Very impressive. This plus his shuttle time make him beast like.Hopefully this gives non-fans and fans alike a real look at the size and athleticism of these super human cats. This is a main reason so many love Football.

How would older NFL players do in today's NFL, e.g. Fred Biletnikoff, Cliff Branch, and Jack Lambert?

You picked three great ones.Fred Biletnikoff- YES he could play today at a high level. Fred played during the golden age of defense in the NFL. HOF’er, You could assault a receiver the entire time the ball was snapped, until the ball was in the air (passed by the QB). Also, crossing routes were his speciality. (remember, knock outs, were a form of prevent defense in those days), so “field awareness” was a necessary skill. Let me be succinct: If Danny Amendola can be a star running hooks, crosses, and go routes, then Biletnikoff would have been the gold standard. He played at 6′1′ 190lbs, and ran a 4.7. His size translates.Cliff Branch- YES. Too much speed for today’s defenses. Can’t touch him past five yards? Good Bye! For those of you who may not be aware of Mr.Branch. Think a smaller tougher Randy Moss with WORLD CLASS SPEED (Documented 10.0 hand timed 100m, and 4.19 forty!) and nice hands. He, and “Bullet” Bob Hayes originated “Blowing the top off the defense.”Jack Lambert-YES, BUT. He would be too small at middle linebacker for today’s game. He came into the league at 204lbs. He played middle linebacker at 220lbs. Ray Lewis played at 260. Not even if he had a hall of fame line like the Steel Curtin clearing the road. LaGarrette Blount is 250, Le’Veon Bell 230. No, Jack would need to move to will backer, or strong safety. The pounding in the middle would be brutal over time. I’m not saying he wouldn’t be successful, I’m just saying he wouldn’t be successful for long.

Is it legal in basketball for the defensive players to yell in the face of the offensive players?

Girls under 12 basketball team yells in the face of every offensive player with the ball for the entire game!!! The refs allowed it, but it seemed in very poor sportsmanship taste to me. is this a normal basketball tactic? I've seen this when in bounding the ball but never on the court at each and every player that got the ball.

Who are the best players in the NFL that are still playing and why?

Best players in the NFL:Tom BradyDrew BreesLarry FitzgeraldI don’t know that I understand the question you ask though, before I continue on… The players listed above are absolute 100% assured first ballot Hall of Fame players. They’ve been around a good while in the league because they have done well to keep themselves healthy and youthful even as Father Time is racing them. These are the old guard greats. There are others - Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Frank Gore, Julius Peppers - who also have been around some years and have skins on the wall. Many of these guys will be HOF’ers too. But they aren’t on the level of the first 3 I listed. Then there are the guys who are just coming into their own, less than or just around 10 years in. Guys like Von Miller, Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, Russell Wilson, Julio Jones, OBJ, Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan… that list goes on and on. Some of these guys are among the best current players, but their legacy is being written as we speak, so it’s hard to define where they’ll finish.
