Who Is Your Favorite Author Name

Who is your favorite author?

Stephan King
Chuck Palanuik (his stuff is absolutely twisted, if you've never read him before get a copy of a book called Choke, it's one of my all time favorites. His writing makes you look at things differently and stays with you long after you've finished the book. His character redefine the word 'anti-hero')
I suppose that's it for favorite author, I've read and loved a lot of books by a lot of different authors, but with these two it's consistent, I'll buy one of either of their books without ever reading the back.

Who is your favorite author?

J.K. Rowling and Cassandra Clare at the moment.
I think J.K. Rowling will always be number one, though n_n I love me some Harry Potter :D
I am actually really picky with books and usually only really enjoy urban-fantasy -- not to say that's ALL I read I just enjoy those types more.
They just have an elegance to their writing, the story-telling's great and the twists in both series (Harry Potter/Mortal Instruments) are...unexpected that's for sure. :)
Hope I helped.

Who is your favorite author?

I'm currently on a big Virginia Woolf kick right now. I'm reading one of her memoirs and "The Voyage Out". As a writer, I'm impressed by her ability to write stream of consciousness, and these works are insights to what makes her tick since "The Voyage Out" is an early work and her memoir allows one to realize what she writes about. That is, her works of fiction are fictionalized accounts, with some embellishments, of occurrences in her own life. I also like Jose Saramago and many of the authors from Latin America as their style is similar in the stream of consciousness vein, yet very modern. I really have no head and shoulders favorite above all others. Due to different styles, I have many favorites. I think it was Duke Ellington that said, "There are only two kinds of music, good music and bad music." Of course the same can be said about any art form. Though I modify the idea so that it's not so egocentric and absolute by saying, "There's only two kinds of stories; stories I like, and stories I don't like." I also like plenty of other modern stuff. I'm liking the craft of Miranda July.

Who is the your favorite author.?

My favorite author of the moment is Patricia McCormick. Her books are not well known, and she's only written three, but her subjects are very intense and interesting. A lot of teens can relate to her books, just like I can.
I also like Stephen King and Jules Verne.

Who is your favorite author?

This is a ridiculously hard question. I don't think I can pick just one, so I'll go through all of them that have meant something to me.

Fantasy authors such as David Eddings, Terry Goodkind, Joe Abercrombie, David Gemmell, Jasper Fforde and Robin Hobb have all made an impact on me. Scott Lynch, James Barclay and Markus Heitz look like they'll be added to that list, I just need to read more of what they've written.

More recently, Ernest Hemingway and Jean-Paul Sartre have made a deep impact on me, their writing style is so different and yet so familiar.
Michael Robotham writes incredibly powerful crime/thriller novels, he completely changed my perspective on writing.
And finally, the Grossman brothers (Austin and Lev) have individually written very excellent fantasy and science-fiction.

With such a high amount of great writers, it's really hard to pick one that stands above the rest. My favourite book is by David Eddings, but there's so much great stuff by all of the others that I can't pick him as my favourite author.
I know this technically doesn't answer your question, but that's because your question is, for me at least, unanswerable.

Mine is Tamora Pierce, who specializes in fantasy books with strong female main characters. The Circle of Magic universe is more equal gender-wise, though the four main characters (three girls and one boy, all of them mages) have visited countries where it's not case and make note of it. The Tortall books have tend to have characters breaking gender barriers. For example, the Song of the Lioness quartet focuses on Alanna of Trebond, who disguises herself as a boy so she can train to be a knight in a time period when the realm of Tortall no longer has female knights. A sequel quartet, the Protector of the Small, has Keladry of Mindelan, who is the first girl to openly train to be a knight after Alanna (a law was passed allowing lady knights), and has to deal with misogynists, some of whom try to prevent her from succeeding (and think that Alanna only achieved knighthood because she could also do magic and was blessed by the Goddess).

Well the list of book is endless , there are a lot of books out there in lots of categories. But the books that I could not put down before finishing up are these.Hunger Games TrilogyThe nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The 'tributes' are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory. Who is your favorite author and why?

i like a lot of authors...

first of all, i like the authors sarah dessen, jodi picoult, and meg cabot becuase they write about people my age and they have a very realistic view of teens. it's fun to read about people that you can relate to.
second, i like the authors dan brown and mary higgins clark. i like dan becuase i couldn't put angels and demons down and i am dying to read the davinci code now. i love how he lets you step into the character's shoes and go through all of the action that they do. i like mary because her books really reel me in. they are full of suspense and i can't get enough of them. i've read a total of about 8 of her books which is a lot for me.
lastly, my all time favorite author is stephenie meyer. please don't take me for one of those romance freaks because i love the twilight series. i'm not saying that i don't love to read romance books, but i have a wide range of what i enjoy to read. the twilight series was the best series that i have ever read. even with her simple writing style, stephenie makes you crave the rest of the story. i CAN'T WAIT for breaking dawn to come out (aug. 2)... and usually i'm not that excited for books.

sorry that i wrote so much... you probably weren't looking for a full blown essay for an answer. who are your favorites???
