Who Many Countries In The World

How many countries are in our world in 2018?

How many Countries are there in the World? A highly debatable question when Virgin mobile & reliance advertise that they have their network in all 240 or 260 countries of the world where ever you may go. Is it really a fact? Not at all. A Country is defined by its sovereignty, Constitution, its flag and its state - territory. Geographically a territory may be a part of an island but yet the Country claims it to be its own. For example, Indonesia is made up of 1300 islands, but they all fall under one Country Indonesia. Brunei is a very small land mass, as small as a little island, but yet it is an independent Country.According to the United Nations & the CIA World Fact Book, there are 195 Countries recognized by the World. Yes, there are several territories and dependencies in the world which are attached to a Country but are not Country in their own rights. For Example Hong Kong, although an autonomous body freed from British Colony, yet is a part of PRC-China. Similarly Macau. There are about 62 dependencies and territories attached to various Countries. These are NOT countries, they are called territories or dependencies.Yet before we settle with 195 Countries, let us also have a look at the numbers that World Trade Organization ( WTO ) The entire world is into business or trade with a network of countries. As per the WTO, there are only 159 Countries. The Least developed countries are not counted under WTO until its economical level is up to an acceptable mark as defined by WTO.Trupti Shahhttp://www.worldometers.info/geo...World-countries.com - Ready For DevelopmentDomain for SaleWelcome to the United NationsWTO.org

Why are there so many countries in the world?

Throughout the 18th and 19th Century, there was a high degree of consolidation of countries as European states colonized much of the world. The European states had a competitive advantage and "acquired" the weaker states to help give them an edge over their competitors. However, the reason there are so many countries now is similar to why giant conglomerates, while highly visible, are actually a minority of companies. It eventually becomes too hard to manage all the different parts. Parts that are doing poorly or have starkly different needs than the rest of company may feel neglected and demand greater autonomy. Other parts that are doing well may resent the fact that they are subsidizing the rest of the company and feel that they would be better off as a separate entity. We see these analogies in the break-up of many countries. After World War I, the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire were broken up to reduce their power, much in the same way monopolies are broken up. After World War II, the British and French Empires broke up because they no longer had the resources to manage such large and diverse empires. Maintaining their empires had become incredibly costly, and to survive, they needed to downsize. The break-up of Yugoslavia was precipitated by the presidency of Milosevic. Milosevic, a Serbian nationalist, showed favoritism to Serbia and the expense of the rest of Yugoslavia. It would be the same as a new CEO redirecting resources to their former department, promoting their cronies, and ignoring all other parts of the company. There are two main reasons why there has not been another move towards consolidation. One, there is no country or group of countries that have an overwhelming advantage over the rest of the world. For example, re-colonizing Africa would be enormously expensive with very little gain. Two, since World War II, wars of conquest have been stigmatized, therefore, one country cannot simply invade another country without suffering major consequences. Under current conditions, countries are much easier to form than to absorb. Therefore new countries proliferate, even if they're "failed states" from day one.Since consolidation isn't possible, there has been a move towards different arrangements, such as the European Union. The European Union behaves more like a cartel than a conglomerate. Members retain sovereignty, but coordinate their economic and political policies and give each other preferential treatment.

How many countries in the world have Navy Seal (not U.S.)?

Besides the U.S., there are Egyptian Navy SEAL, Royal Thai Navy SEAL (Thailand), ROK (S. Korea) Navy UDT/SEAL, Lebanese Navy SEAL, Taiwan Navy SEAL, & Bangladesh Navy SEAL.

Also, Royal Jordanian Navy Frogman (U.S. Navy SEAL’s nickname) & Philippine Naval Special Warfare (NSW).

These countries modeled their Navy Special Operation Unit after U.S. Navy SEAL. They either were or are trained (or developed) by U.S. Navy SEAL (few of them also have Navy EOD that were/are trained by U.S. Navy EOD/Diver).

BTW, some of these SEALs were also in Iraq and/or A'Stan as part of the Coalition Forces too.

What is the total number of countries in the world?

There are 196 countries in the world today.Unless you don't count Taiwan…Taiwan is not considered an official country by many, which would bring the count down to 195 countries. Although Taiwan operates as an independent country, many countries (including the U.S.) do not officially recognize it as one. Because the People's Republic of China considers Taiwan a breakaway province of China, countries who wish to maintain diplomatic relations with China have had to sever their formal relations with Taiwan (more than 100 countries, however, have unofficial relations with Taiwan). How many countries belong to the United Nations?193 countries are UN members. The exceptions are Taiwan (in 1971, the UN ousted Taiwan and replaced it with the People's Republic of China) and Vatican City. Kosovo is not yet a member. The newest UN members are Switzerland (2002), Montenegro (2006), and South Sudan. What are the world's newest countries? The world's newest country is South Sudan, which gained independence from Sudan on July 9, 2011. Before that, the newest country was Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in February 2008. Montenegro became a country in June 2006, after splitting off from Serbia. Since 1990, 29 new nations have come into being. Many of these emerged from the collapse of the Soviet Union (14 countries) and the breakup of the former Yugoslavia (7 countries). New Nations GuideAre there still any countries that have colonies? There are 61 colonies or territories in the world. Eight countries maintain them: Australia (6), Denmark (2), Netherlands (2), France (16), New Zealand (3), Norway (3), the United Kingdom (15), and the United States (14).Territories, Colonies, and DependenciesAre there still territories in the world that are claimed by more than one country? There are six major disputed territories in the world: the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the Paracel Islands, Spratly Islands, Western Sahara, and Antarctica (about a dozen nations have laid claims to portions of it). In addition, there are innumerable other territorial disputes throughout the world, many of which had resulted in ongoing armed conflicts.Source - Internet

How many countries in the world have democratic form of government?

Currently, out of 192 recognized countries, 123 of them are democractic. The most basic measure of democracy is electoral efficacy (the ability to produce a desired or intended result). If a nation has free and fair elections, coupled by competing parties with varied representative interests, it can be classified as a democracy. That being said, given the abysmal state of the electoral process in the U.S., I wouldn't say I live in a democracy…so I guess it's up for interpretation.
