Who Should I Try Out For

Should I try out for my school play?

Go for it mate, that's what started me off in acting.
Prior to my first play I was a pimply unpopular nerdy teen that everyone picked on.
I thought I'd audition for Twelfth Night, I didn't even understand the language, though I went for it.
I got the part of Malvolio, I had never been more excepted in all my life.
I went from that unpopular teen to one of the most popular kids in school and I'm still acting.
Theatre can help transform people.

What you want to do prior to auditioning is get a hold of the piece you'll be auditioning with, they'll probably use either a monologue or a moment from the script. Learn that as best you can, put in what you can with it and then do your best to relax and have fun.

All the best with your future acting :)

Should I try out for color guard?

Definatley!! I have plenty of friends that tried out with no experience and made it. Color guarding is something that isn't introduced until high school, so there will be plenty of girls who are there who also have never even touched a flag. At tryouts they will teach you flag and twirling techniques then they will teach you a routine. If you don't try out you will never k now how much you could learn just from the short tryout period. Go For It GOOD LUCK!

Should I try out for the swim team?

If you really like to swim then I think it would be good for you to try out. It sounds like you are willing to work hard and it would be good for you to get some experience over the summer, you could even maybe take lessons to try to help you get even better. Plenty of people take hard classes and do a sport so it is possible but is definitely more stressful and you have to learn to manage your time better. One other option would be to just swim on your own in 9th grade and focus on school then in 10th grade you can try out for the team because you will feel more comfortable with high school and will be a better swimmer. The tampon thing shouldn't be too big of a deal, it might be scary at first but you will get used to it quickly and if you only use them while you are swimming I think your mom should not have to worry about the safety aspects because you would only be wearing it for a short time. Also, you could also talk to the coach about your interest in the team, get to know her and ask her questions about the skill level and the time commitment that is required. Good luck!!

Should I tryout for softball?

Recently, I had an urge to tryout for some school sports team. Since tennis season is over (which I was a part of), I want try out for a spring sport. I can't run for a long time, so soccer, field hockey, lacrosse are out. The only one left is softball. I thought about softball, but I have never actually tried playing it. But I have played cricket, which I am not bad at. So, should I try out? There is also the problem that I am a junior in high school and I will have hard classes next semester. So, should I try out? I just want your opinion.
Thanks in advance!

Should I tryout for cheer my Senior year?

Hey guys!

So as a kid, every summer I would do an intensive cheerleading camp where we did gymnastics and cheerleading and I was about 5 when I started and 7 when I stopped cause I was moving.
I always wanted to do cheer again but I guess in a new place I felt so out of place that I never did.
I missed my change in 7th grade to start doing cheer squad cause my dad was afraid I would get really hurt.

Then I played volleyball for always five years.

Now I am getting really sick of volleyball and I want to do cheer again for my senior year at my highschool! I have five months till then and I am getting my splits and jumps and getting strong for tryouts! I am just afraid of a few things

The cheerleaders at my school are super pretty and preppy except for a few who are actually my best friends, but I am afraid that people are going to down grade me for switching to be a cheerleader from being a complete competitive athlete! I mean I really don't care about what people think I am wearing and what not, but I do not like a bad reputation. I want to do cheer to be part of a team and be with my friends for our last year together?

Do you think I should do it? What was your experience from cheer?

Thanks to everyone who answers! Hope you have a Merry Christmas! :)

I want to try out for my school's rugby team. What should I do to prepare?

This question sounds very American. The reason I say that is that if you go to a school (up to age 18) in the UK, there will be either no rugby team, or you will play for it (if male).Assuming you are 14+, so either high school or college, the best preparation you can possibly do is to get (a) a decent gum shield/mouth guard, and (b) a decent pair of rugby shorts. Perhaps boots too, but you can manage with t-shirts and trainers for the very first trainings.Because the only real preparation for playing rugby is training rugby. It isn’t like American football, where you can try out by being particularly fast or particularly big (although perhaps that is the case at your school). Every player on the team has to be able to run, pass, and tackle, in varying degrees (of course). All that said, the answer is to work on your “core stability”. Your future coach or trainer will like it if you can do “Superman bridges” (one hand, one leg). Spiderman is just as fun (to the coach).Let me explain that a little bit. A bridge, or a plank, is basically being in something like the standard push-up position for a bit longer than you might like. A minute or two. As soon as you can hold that position for two minutes, you can hold it. And probably as soon as you can easily handle a minute, make it more dymanic. Lift an arm, like Superman, move a leg up, like Spiderman. Don’t do this with more than three limbs at a time.In modern rugby, everybody has to be able to tackle, but perhaps more importantly everybody needs to be able to be tackled. Core stability is probably more important in these contact situations than in scrums or lineouts, where power is key. But both of those set pieces? Have the core, you have the power transmission! You could work on stamina by running or cycling for a good half hour regularly, too. Finally, World Rugby's Rugby Ready is your starting point to everything else. Like the laws (they can be confusing).

Should I try out for my high school soccer team?

Should I try out for my high school soccer team?If you are a great goalkeeper and a player who makes the whole team better, then go for it. Read no further. However, my judgment is:No, you ought not to try out, because:you’re not committed enough, and you’re in enough doubt that you have to ask on Quora. You’re stressed and undecided, not straining at the bit and convinced.you’re not driven to practice and prepare, despite your hurt wrist. Some questions that you should ask yourself, not answer in public: How far did you run every day, during the summer? Did you do your core-body exercises, every day? Did you swim or do other exercises to work your arms and shoulders? Did you work with a ball at your feet every day?you haven’t talked to the team coach about preparing yourself, despite being injured.you’re going to be part of the problem for the coaches, not the solution. They need to identify those players who are really good players and really committed, and they’re going to be swamped with wannabes. This is a life lesson. You’re going to want to go to college, at a school of your choice, not just at whatever school you can get into. You’re going to want to get a good job, doing something that you want to do and that challenges or fascinates you. Don’t just wait for what you want to fall in your lap, prepare yourself and really go after it.
