Who Was It That Said People Should Be Judged By The Content Of There Character Not The Color Of

Why do some people judge people by their skin color and not by their action?

It may help to remember that we judge each other in many ways. Every day we are constantly judging everything in our lives. Unfortunately, we often judge unfairly.Without condoning unfair judgment, we can benefit from understanding where it comes from. I find that calm logical judgment is often considered fair. An example would be judging ones actions rather than color of skin.Judgment that rises from emotions, like fear, are often considered unfair. The question now is, why is there fear of skin color? I feel the reason is because there is a difference that we do not understand well. Agreed, there is little logic in fearing differences, but it is a well known aspect of human emotion. When prey look for predators, they look for differences. Movement, color, sounds, and shapes. After centuries of defending ourselves and protecting those we love, identifying differences is ingrained deeply. Many of us are not able to avoid the instinctive reaction to differences. Some of us have learned to set aside our fears and see logically. At least, most of the time. Some of us are still learning. Help them. They need a chance to learn how to control the emotions the blind them.Much of the improvements in regard to racism have come from understanding our differences. Maybe we should take the hint and keep pushing in that direction.Hope this helps and take best of care!

As a "person of color," is it racist to infer that a character who is a straight white male can't possibly be a relatable character or role model to people of color?

But here is the thing. No one really says that. What people say is that more representation is needed. Because when you see someone who shares a quality with you in a position you don't often see them, it gets elevated from a simple role model or source of inspiration to sending the message that you can also achieve what they achieve, that you can be like that and that indeed it's ok to be like that. For example here is this exact phenomenon as experienced by Whoopi GoldbergOn the U.S.S. Enterprise, the presence of Uhura on the Bridge crew connected with the young Goldberg, and her lifelong love of Star Trek had begun. "Well, when I was nine years old Star Trek came on," Goldberg says. "I looked at it and I went screaming through the house, 'Come here, mum, everybody, come quick, come quick, there's a black lady on television and she ain't no maid!' I knew right then and there I could be anything I wanted to be."Do you see how representation worked here? It signaled to this person that it is possible for people like them to exist in that industry in any capacity. That it's possible and ok to do so. If Uhura didn't exist, it's likely that Goldberg would have never gotten into acting

Should people be judge by their color or differences?

Imagine you have a friend but she or he is a different color of skin? And one day someone say’s that people should be judge by their color of skin. Then someone has a different opinion that people should be judge by their differences. What side would you be with?Well today I’m going to give you my opinion on what should people be judge.Ill tell some facts and my opinions.People should be judge by their differences because, it shows the people of how they are with others or how they act.If people were to judge by the color of their skin, they will be treated different because of their skin color. Also, that will be very rude, and offensive to the people that are color skin.Next, if people were judge by their differences there would be peace between color people and white people.Last if people were treated by their differences every one will be happy and have a good life with their families and friends. Why I didn’t choose “People Should Be Judge By Their Color Of Skin” is because people should be judge by the content of their character, just like Martin Luther King Jr said.I agree and you should to, what is the reason for judging someone by his or her skin color if that has nothing to do with a persons personality. The people with a different skin color can’t help the fact that they are African American or Asian. For example,I’m color skin and I wouldn’t like to be judge by the color of skin.I would be okay being judge by my character not by my skin or what I wear.Whats wrong with being judge by the color of your skin?Well if people were judge by their color of their skin it will be call discrimination and segregation.Yeah. segregation and discrimination big words right but does word hurt people to , judging their skin their voice. You wouldn’t like that?Right? In 1870’s a lot of people died by discrimination and by die I mean black people and African Americans. And all of does people (black people) were not satisfied and they will not until there’s “justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a might stream. To sum it up people shouldn’t be judge by their color of skin. They should be judge by their character and how they are. They should never ever be judge of their skin or anything. Just by their character, so if you ever need information on what should people be judge just follow me and will have different stories every week.:)

Social Mobility: Has Martin Luther King, Jr's statement; "...judge by character not skin color..." been forgotten by the current generation?

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."This is what MLK said.It held true then and it holds true now.It is probably the most important statement spoken about the America that people want to live in.Trayvon Martin was judged by Zimmerman on the colour of his skin.He died because a vigilante with a gun pursued him.He was going about his lawful business as any American has a right to do.So. That is all that is relevant. It is an injustice that someone died for no reason other than America allows untrained trigger happy vigilantes to stalk the streets. When the law starts producing unjust results all people should question it. When someone dies needlessly this is wrong. George Zimmerman could easily not have killed someone, by not being in his car pretending to be a policemen. The police did not want him there. He wasn't helping. By not leaving the car as the police asked. I don't think that anyone who says anything about the case except it was tragic and perverse are helping. George Zimmerman would have been guilty of manslaughter if he had killed Martin by running him over or serving him a badly prepared meal. He got away with killing because the law allows gun killers complete immunity from justice. This is not a country anyone recognises as America. It isn't just black people who are angry about the judgement: the vast majority of Americans still recognise justice, even if it is a rare commodity. So no. MLK's words have been forgotten, thats if the racist white Southerners ever even heard them.

"A man should not be judged by the color of his skin, but by the actions of his heart", or something like that?

Obviously.

What are the pros and cons of "not judging people"?

Is always wrong to judge people? Even if you only judge by the "content of their character"? Isn't this what Dr. MLK said? "Judge me not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character". So was he wrong?

Why don't people who oppose Affirmative Action take issue with nepotism and class privilege?

How does a poor white person with no family connections have any advantage over an equally poor and unconnected black person? Do you assume that all white people are rich? Do you assume that all white people are in a secret club that advances them to positions of power? It just ain't true. Nepotism is wrong and unfair. Class privilege is not right. But racial discrimination is not any better and may be much worse. You need to learn that things are tough all over. Your skin color doesn't make you special. It doesn't insulate you from poverty or guarantee success. There are white people who have it just as hard as you and I guarantee there are many who have it worse. Do you think they deserve the same hand up that a black person gets? Opposing Affirmative Action is just about wanting everyone to be treated equally regardless of race. You can't fight prejudice with racial discrimination.

If you think that poor people from broken homes and failing schools deserve a little assistance in getting their foot in the door to a better education and better jobs, I can respect that. But race should never be used to judge the worth of a person.

Is it appropriate to call out people wearing MAGA gear in public as racists? At what point does tolerance of intolerance become unacceptable?

Is it appropriate to call out people wearing MAGA gear in public as racists? At what point does tolerance of intolerance become unacceptable?I wonder what goes through the mind of someone who sees another person they’ve never met before, and know nothing about, that leads to the assumption that the person is a racist.Didn’t Martin Luther King Jr. say that we should not judge people by outward appearances?Judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. This goes for blacks, whites, and others.Do you think it’s fair to call someone a racist because they are wearing a hat?And so what if someone is racist? Does being called a racist make them want to change?Frankly, there are very few racist people out there today. When the KKK has a rally, 30 people show up.What needs to be called out are all the people who are so quick to label everyone they disagree with a racist, homophobe, Islamophobe, or sexist.Does calling people names make them want to come to the table and work things out?How about a new tactic? Sit down with someone and find out what they think. Let’s not assume we know. Find out what they really think. Hear it from them, not from a blog, a TV show, or a person with a bullhorn.Start with what you have in common. And see if you can convince them with facts and logic that your side is a better way to live. You won’t convince them that they’re 100% wrong. When has that ever worked? Why not find the 90~95% of things you agree on, then convince them that, even though their way is a good idea, yours is slightly better.Try that. See how it works.Peace.Edit: The act of “calling someone out” should be reserved for something you can actually prove, not something you suspect.
