Who Was The Greatest Artist Ever

Who is the greatest musical artist ever?

Nash the Slash and myself, Farrell McGovern, at the release party for Nash’s album In-A-Gadda-Da-Nash in Toronto, 2008.
One of the most unique musicians I know of is Canadian Jeff Plewman, better known by his stage name of “Nash the Slash”. I knew “Nash” over the years, and would pop in back stage either during his soundcheck, or after a show, and he was a great guy. Usually accompanied by his dog, Digger, he was fun to hang around with and chat. So, what made Nash unique? Well, first of all, he didn’t play guitar, or drums or bass, he played violin, mandolin, and glockenspiel. He was also conversant with synthesizers, and various effects boxes. One might think from the mix of instruments that he played Classical music….instead used them for playing rock & roll. In fact, his music has been called “Heavy Metal Violin & Mandolin” in the past. He also performed live wrapped in bandages, along with various costumes. His first internationally notable album was with the band FM, and that album was called “Black Noise”. This album went on to become a classic, and was named one of the to fifty Progressive Rock Albums of All Time by no less than Rolling Stone Magazine. He toured with Gary Numan, and The Tubes, opening up their shows. He also played on Numan’s hit album “Dance”.After this, he had a international hit with his song “Dance after Curfew” (1982), which was produced by Daniel Lanois, yes, the same guy who produced U2, etc. The most surprising thing happened with this song, it became a hit single in Eastern Europe, which, at the time, was still behind the Iron Curtain. One of Nash’s musical loves was soundtracks, and he wrote and/or contributed to a number of them. Some of the films he wrote for were Highway 61, Roadkill, produced by Bruce McDonald and original work to accompany the silent film Nosferatu. The IMDB lists 7 films that he wrote the soundtracks for, and 5 where his music appeared, including Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood.I can write thousands of words about Nash…but you really need to listen to his music. Here is a good choice, “Vincent’s Crows”, off his album And You Thought You Were Normal. It is an ode to Vincent van Gogh’s “Wheatfield & Crows”.Nash The Slash - Vincent's CrowsThere is also a documentary film in production about Nash, which takes its name from above mentioned album, And You Thought You Were Normal, which you can read more about here:And You Thought You Were Normal

Who is the greatest martial artist that has ever lived?

That's easy it has to be Bodhidharma (or his chinese name Da Mo), he is known as the founding father of martial arts. As a young boy he learned kalariooayattu, created zen buddhism, then he went to the shaolin temple (only after nine years of meditation in a cave close to the temple in complete silence) and then taught zen principles and yogic martial-art exercises to streaghten the weak monks after there years of static meditation. He also created 'Yi Jin Jing' and 'Xi Sui Jing' the first classic qi-gong manuals and are thought to form the basis of modern shaolin kung fu.

I have to say he was a legend

Who is the greatest artist of all time to you?

ME! I’m amazing!Kidding. I’m actually full of self doubt and also - I know LOTS of other (living) artists who are incredible and whose vision and creativity seem boundless. I love the work of Baby Smith, Jane Davies, Corine Smith… Hey, check that out - ALL WOMEN!Your question will elicit answers which are subjective, beauty being in the eye of the beholder. No one can be objective here since we are all the proud owners of quite a few biases, opinions and life experiences which shape our way of seeing. All you’re going to get is people’s opinion of who they LIKE or admire or whatever subjective criteria they’ve applied to determine the winner. Some might reasonably say it’s Leonardo DiVinci or Michealangelo based on their prodigious output and groundbreaking work. Others might say that the “painter of light” Thomas Kincaide is the best because he’s made SO MUCH MONEY —- and because they are suckers for his racist fairytales-for-adults paintings. But I will answer more democratically —- ANYONE who is brave enough to chase their creativity down a rabbit hole to see where it takes them is a great artist. ANYONE who works at it no matter what else is going on in their life, ANYONE who dares to make something original is incredible. The best? It’s simply not a competition. Go ahead and decide what artist you like best (even if it’s your 9-year-old) and declare them the winner.

Is Eminem is the greatest artist of all time?

Em is the greatest because of a lot of reasons. He is the first ond only Hip-Hop recipient of the Oscar for Best Original Song! (Not even KISS of all people in the world, has a Oscar award) As well as having the "fastest selling album of all time by a solo artist" (beat Britney Spears), "Rolling Stone's hundred greatest artists of all time"!

Em has been through so much. He grew up in poverty, his mother abused him, he raised his brother by himself , his wife who was supposed to be loyal cheated on him, everyone called him a sexist despite the fact that he raised his ex-wife's neices).
