Has an unranked team ever won the NCAA Championship ??
April 1, 1985...Villanova upset Georgetown 66-64 for the championship in Lexington, KY...This was the first year that the field was expanded to 64 teams. Villanova was an 8th seed... This was also the first year the 3 teams from the same conference (Nova, G-town, and St. John's) were in the final four...the only team to break up an all conference final four was Memphis State (who beat B.College in the Sweet 16, a then Big East team). My Louisville Cardinals didn't even make the dance that year...but on an up-note...I lost my virginity the night after the championship due to a bet on the game...I chose Villanova...then again, she wasn't that great and we split up later that year. C'est la vie...
