Who Was The Second Man To Land On The Moon

How many times has man landed on the moon?

Six.
Apollo 11, 1969, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins
Apollo 12, 1969, Charles (Pete) Conrad, , Alan Bean, Richard Francis Gordon
Apollo 14, 1971, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, Stuart Roosa
Apollo 15, 1971, David Scott, James Irwin, Alfred Worden
Apollo 16, 1972, John Young, Charles Duke, Thomas Mattingly
Apollo 17, 1972, Eugene Cernan, Harrison Schmitt, Ronald Evans

Apollo 13 did not land due to a mechanical problem that nearly killed the crew. The 3rd man listed in each mission did not walk on the Moon, but instead stayed in orbit around the Moon in the command module while the other two landed in the lunar module.

Since 1972 we have not ventured above low Earth orbit. Apollo 18, 19 and 20 were actually built but congress cut the program off before they could be launched and those three space vehicles are now on display now in Houston, Huntsville and Cape Canaveral. The reason for not going to the Moon again was the high cost and danger, combined with the public loosing interest in the program. The feeling was, been there, done that, so why keep spending billions to do it again and again. But we ARE spending billions to just go up into low Earth orbit again and again, and I would personally rather see us going to the Moon instead. And NASA would like it too, but they need money from congress to do it. There is a plan to go back, but since they cannot just stop work on the Shuttle and space station and other programs and they don't have enough money to keep doing those other things and start a new Moon program too, the plan is to use what money is available over a period of 15 or 20 years to go back. I suspect congress will kill the project before it gets completed though, due to the cost.

Who was the second person to step on moon?

On July the 20th 1969 the Lunar Module landed on the moon.Everyone remembers Neil Armstrong and his famous 1st words. But quite a few people don't know the name of the 2nd man to set foot on the moon .Now, the answer to your question . Around 20 minutes after Neil Armstrong landed on the moon Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the second man to set foot on the the moon. This is a photo of the great man ,who is still among us and is quite socially active .He's one of the few men I truly admire and I acknowledge this admiration publicly .Hope you liked the answer

Who is the first and second person go on moon?

Buzz Aldrin. There were three people on the Apollo mission. Two of them, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon while the third remained in the capsule. Some people believe that it was the photographer who stepped on first so he could capture Neil Armstrong’s famous moment but that’s not what happened. The video of him climbing down from the lunar module was taken by a camera that was already installed at an angle and the other photos were taken at a later date during the same mission.

Why hasn't anybody made a second trip to the moon?

Numerous trips have been made to the moon, but I'm going to assume you're asking why hasn't there been a repeat of such trips- such as a new program in place to make more moon landings.

There was a space program in place called "Constellation" which was designed to take humans to the moon by around 2020-2025. The project was cancelled by Obama. NASA has been undergoing serious budget cuts and the resources are simply not available to undergo such an endeavour. It seems The USA is in so much debt that they are trying to focus on their own economy, not the space program.

Just because its worth mentioning ill wrote down all the trips to the moon for you

Apollo 8, December 1968- first trip around the moon. James A. Lovell, Frank Borman, William Anders.

Apollo 10, May 1969- A "dress rehearsal" for the first moon landing, the astronauts skimmed over the lunar surface with the lunar module but did not actually land. Eugene Cernan, Thomas Stafford and John Young.

Apollo 11, July 1969- first lunar landing. Neil Armstrong, Edwin E. 'Buzz' Aldrin jr. And Micheal Collins

Apollo 12, November 1969- Second landing on the moon. Charles Pete Conrad, Alan Bean and Richard Gordon

Apollo 13, April 1970- Famously did not land on the moon due to an oxygen tank explosion, all returned to earth safetly. James A Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert.

Apollo 14, January 1971- third landing on the moon, Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, Edgar Mitchell.

Apollo 15, July 1971- fourth landing on the Moon, first lunar mission with lunar rover. David Scott, James Irwin, Alfred Worden

Apollo 16, April 1972- fifth landing on the moon. John Young, Charlie Duke, Kenneth Mattingly

Apollo 17, December 1972- sixth and final landing on the moon (for now) Eugene Cernan, Harrison 'Jack' Schmitt and Ronald Evans.

12 men have walked upon the lunar surface.

Hope this helps! -J 14 Canada

If there's no gravity in outter space, how did man land on the moon?

I agree with elfinino... I'm calling troll. But I'll humor you. Firstly the space race was between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, not China. Secondly the moon has gravity plus we use "highly advanced equipment" to get us to the moon. Gravity as said by other people on this question relates directly to the mass of an object and because out in space there isn't much mass there isn't much gravity. Mind you anywhere in our solar system gravity is still very existent and every present, why do you think the planets orbit the sun? The sun's gravity holds them in. Even comets way out in the Oort cloud are heavily affected by the sun's gravity. So in short the of you decided to skip all that, "The smart sciency people at NASA made rockets to shoot us through space to the moon which itself has gravity, letting us land on it and have tea with the little green men". Good day ma'dam

Who is the second person landing on the moon after Neil Armstrong?

Neil Armstrong wasn't the first man to LAND on the moon; in fact, an Apollo mission was structured like this: for each mission there were 3 astronauts, a command module and a LEM (lunar excursion vehicle); once inserted in lunar orbit, 1 astronaut remained there (in the command module) and the other 2 would be carried to the surface of the moon with the LEM .Since the LEM carried 2 astronauts at a time and it landed them together, the record of first man to land on the moon is held by both of the astronauts on Apollo 11's LEM.Those astronauts are Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.Neil Armstrong was instructed to climb down the ladder first, therefore becoming the first man to set foot on the moon. But Buzz was there as well and he joined Neil just minutes after Neil’s iconic words 《That's one small step for [a] man but, one giant leap for mankind》.Let's all remember that the hard part was landing, not walking…

Do u think Aldrin is upset because he wasnt the first man on the moon, i mean all we hear is Armstrong all..?

Yes I do.... Considering what an advocate for the space program he's been, along with his education and contributions to NASA, he really would've been a better choice to be the first guy.... but, it was luck of the draw - he was with the first crew, wasn't selected to be in command, so... he got to be the second set of prints on the moon.

It's like being the 2nd fastest runner in the world - it's an incredible feat that not one man in 5 billion could do... but someone else has the title you were after.

If the moon landings were real, then why did all the astronaut crew mysteriously die after the "mission"?

OK people maybe I phrased this question wrong. Why did some of the astronaut crew before and after the mission mysteriously die? Ok I get it Aldrin, Armstrong, and the third other astronaut didnt die maybe because it would have been more suspicious but my point is that they did murder other astronauts involved in the hoax later or before the mission.
