What food did you discover and love as an adult and wish you had found years earlier?

Beluga Caviar. The really expensive kind. Actually, it was a good thing I hadn’t discovered it earlier because I would have gone broke. It costs around a thousand dollars a pound!I was at a friends wedding reception and there was a guy in a room at a table with a tin full of this stuff serving it on crackers with some kind of cottage cheese and a few other condiments. He hands me one and I took a bite. My first thought was oh my god, that is disgusting! but I didn’t want to seem rude so I finished it and started to walk away but then I thought “well it is really expensive maybe I should give it another chance.”The second one wasn’t AS bad and I made short work of it. the third one started to grow on me and I rather enjoyed it. By the time I finished the fourth cracker full I was craving another one but didn’t want to hog it all so I went into the other room and listened to the string quartet but the whole time I was thinking about that caviar.Someone handed me a joint and I grabbed another glass of champagne from the girl with the tray and by this time I was headed back to the caviar table trying to think of reasons for wanting a bigger cracker. the guy saw me come in and prepared me a piece of toast with a heaping pile of it on there. (it was like he knew).Long story short by the end of the evening I was thinking about how I could grab the tin and make it to my car before someone caught me because I had to have more of that stuff! It was unreal the effect it had on me! I was high from it. Or maybe it was the pot but ever since then I’ve been crashing HNWI parties and trying everything I could to get more of those amazing Russian black sturgeon eggs commonly referred to as caviar.

In South Africa, do white people own 72% of the country's farmland, even though they're 8% of the population?

There is not much land with high rainfall in SA and black people already own most of it.Now, lets define farmland:A large amount of land is owned by the SA Government. This includes game reserves, transport, forestry and military land. If government was really serious about land reform it should start with its own land. Much of this lies unused.Black people do own a sizable amount of land but this is referred to as tribal land, not farmland. These areas fall in our areas with the highest rainfall. Then there is urban land, cities and towns. Most white-owned land is in the Karoo. It is semi-desert and despite it's size this land is mostly useless. You could keep maybe three sheep per 10 hectare, if that much.It is true that most commercial farms are white-owned. But it is dishonest to create the impression that 72% of all land in SA is white-owned farmland. If you were to call tribal land farmland as well and rate the value of land on how much rain it gets rather than just its size this figure would be far, far different.Much of our privately-owned dry land is used for game farming. If the government wants to put it to better use they are welcome to have a go. It would require water, lots of it. Right now they seem unable to even guarantee a water supply to our second largest city.I believe that if the tribal land was farmed commercially we would not need to import any food. This land is an agricultural gold mine and has the potential to uplift millions of people if only it was correctly farmed. It is high time that we realize the real crisis in SA is water and not land.
