Why Am I Scared Of This Weird Phobia

Does anyone have any weird phobias?

i am scared of how hospitals smell and clowns. today we learned about phobias in school. i was just wondering the other things people are scared of. can you tell me what your scared of and why?

Weird Phobia?

Em W. says "phobias are based on an irrational fear of something" but that is not so. A phobia IS an irrational fear of something.

Phobias are thought disorders. They do not exist by themselves. They are the result of our thinking, and of what we tell ourselves we think is "The Truth" about something.

Because we have done this to ourselves (that is, talked ourselves into being irrationally afraid of something) we can also change it by talking ourselves out of it. That is, by changing what we tell ourselves inside our head from "fearsome" thinking" to something else.

This is why there are rational-emotive, or cognitive, or Adlerian therapists...to help people fix their thought disorders. Since there's some behavior involved also, it's why there are behavior therapists.

You might do well to seek out someone like this to help, if your chalk phobia UNDULY interferes with your life. Otherwise (if it's just an occasional annoyance) reduce it to its proper minuscule size and get on with things.

Either way, good luck... -- Dr. Bob

I am terribly scared of tall trees, (phobia) is this fear weird?

I go to family cook outs annually, and the cook out is held in a forest like atmosphere, I usually take walks with my cousins on this little path, and the whole time I look down, because when I look up there are these huge trees, and just green everywhere, I feel soooo scared, and out of place, like I could have a panoc attack any minute.

It's not even the tall forest trees, but just trees that are taller than usual ones, you normally see in the city.

Does anyone else have this fear, and if you don't have this fear, do you think it is weird to have a fear like this?

Do you have any weird phobias (fears)?

I have trillions of different phobias myself.
My biggest fear is spiders,
but my most unusual one would have to be my fear of seeing or hearing people eat.
I've googled it and there's not even a name for it.
But I did read blogs about other people who had the same thing, so it's not just me.
Do you have any phobias?

Can anyone help me with a really really weird phobia?

I have a really weird fear..I'm afraid of vents. Like those things on ceilings and sometimes walls that suck air in. I don't know why they scare me, but the way they look and the sound they make just scare me to a point where I can't even move. The ones that are the scariest to me are ones in bathrooms, ones that aren't aren't so bad, unless they're huge then I get scared. I'm usually ok if someone else is in the bathroom with me, but otherwise I can't even go to the bathroom if there'ss a vent. When I stay at hotels, I get so scared showering or using the bathroom because of vents, and being in the shower in a bathroom that's not my own scares me too, even if there's no vent. I think the vent shaft and the fan inside are what scare me the most, and the bigger they are and the more of the shaft i can see, the worse it is and the more scared i get.

But I'm afraid of more than vents, I hate pipes, vent shafts, smoke stacks, electrical fields..pretty much any industrial thing that has a shaft, and the biggertheyy are the worse it is, as i mentioned earlier. I can stand them from far away, but I've googled pictures of the inside of smoke stacks and vent shafts and they scare me so much that i get nauseous.

So basically my main fear is vents, especially ones in bathrooms, but i really hate anything with a shaft, and the bigger they are, the more scared i get.

So i was just wondering if any of you have the same kind of fear or if you know the name of this kind of phobia? Because this is a real irrational fear that really affects my life because I can't use a lot of bathrooms that aren't mine. Please help, any info works. :(

Is it weird to have a phobia of insect, but not of spiders?

Frst of all, in principle phobias have no logic. Such obsessions of the mind, irrational fears, they cannot be pinpoint explained, though they can be challenged anytime and treated directly. Now, I must say I find this hypothetical situation improbable. You see, apart from the fact that almost any person is intrinsically scared of spiders (yes, even spider scientists but as said irrational fears can be reasoned with training), insects are remarkably more diverse and often not so obvious. Few insects are prone to harm humans, though they are much more common and widespread than spiders. Most people are more disgusted at insects instead of truly afraid unless they heard of or had some nasty experience, or if they confound them with spiders. So, thus is the final answer. No phobias are weirder than others, they are all weird alike. However a person who is not afraid at all of spiders by default is not common, and it is very unlikely that the very same person is able to recognize also by default all different kinds of insects in channeling his fears towards them. Would this guy scream at booklice, ladybirds, butterflies, all this same, while stroking a tarantula? That would be weird.

Do you have any weird Phobias or things you really cant stand?

dead stuff, absolutely petrified, like if there's a dead bird Ill cross to the other side of the Street, right down to something small like a spider, if its dead...Im scared of it weird ay?

I have a weird fear...?

It's not weird at all- everyone is afraid or weirded out by something, yours just happens to be inanimate objects in the water. A fear of inanimate objects is called hoplophobia. Even if you don't think it's a phobia since it does not control you, it is still a fear and that's what phobia is- a fear. You probably just have a very mild case of the phobia. Different things freak people out- I had a friend in high school who couldn't stand to be anywhere near a wet papertowel or a wet napkin.
You may grow out of it- just give it time. If you want you could always go see a counselor about it. He/she will be able to give you some tips on how to deal with the fear so that you don't think about it so much and you may get to the point to where you can go in the water without worrying about anything, or where you are able to stop thinking about the Titanic still being underwater.
But take care of the fear now, before it turns into a major phobia that takes over.
