Why Am I So Tempted Into Doing Bad Things

Why are most people addicted to bad things instead of good things?

One could understand this peculiar Human behaviour from fooding habits. People disregard to eat Bitter gourd which is healthy but takes large amount of sweet and sugary beverages which is harmful.Human is largely motivated by immediate benefit rather than long-run benefit. Sweets brings delicious taste to tongue immediately but brings diabetes in long-run. But Bitter gourd cures diabetes in long-run.Let us take some real life examples:Parents join their Child in reputed schools to give them better education and he could settle better in long-run with bigger aspirations.Unfortunately, Child at school fails to understand importance of education rather involve in unnecessary love affairs(disturbs his studies), showing excess interest in TV shows and Movies(only excess is harmful), Mockery at his teachers with his fellow friends. These Love affairs, Movies, Mocking only give immediate happiness but fails to understand worth of such acts. Some Politicians (not all) has ill motive to become MP(Member of Parliament) , to involve in corruption and enjoy in materialism. But the same MP fails to recognize, such corrupt act destroys his name in eyes of his constituency.Luxury with public money is immediate benefit but he may not win the hearts of people in long-run.This peculiar behaviour is also due to Societal setup. As every reader here must have at least done schooling. In school it is normal tendency to have pride in having Girlfriend or Boyfriend. One who doesn't have GF or BF is seendown and boring. Thus school society provokes to have love affair.Similarly, in society people show respect to one who has BMW or Mercedes or Rollsroyce but disrespects who travels in rickshaw, no matter how that BMW is bought. Thus the thumb rule isone needs to think for longrun benefit andsociety must encourage good acts and discourage bad acts. Please Upvote if you like it

Why am I so tempted into doing bad things?

So I have no idea how to explain this... But I'm going to try my best to. It's like whenever I stare at something I always get tempted to do something bad and thinking what would happen. It's like I'm getting lost? Away from reality? I probably sound like some person who's high or some what, but I'm not. It's just weird how when I stare at something i don't concentrate on that item, my mind goes crazy? It's almost as if I'm staring at something like I'm hypnotized. Is it a normal thing... Or am I just over thinking stuff...

I'm 23 and I am really tempted to die. Why is that a bad thing?

Hi there,I am actually not there to answer your question. I feel the exact same way as you do. I am 26. I, basically, honestly, suck at everything. Just 5 minutes ago I was searching the Internet for the answer to, “Do I have impostor syndrome or am I just a mediocre person/programmer?” Oh and also did I mention, I want to die too because like you said, I feel like there is no purpose of living and everything is just a long series of struggle. However, whenever I think about dying, my first thought is about my loved ones. My parents, my younger brother and my boyfriend (who I am going to marry next year, hopefully, if I don’t die). Now, I probably know that when I die, they will be sad and their lives will forever be ruined. But , hey, atleast I will be freed from this extreme struggle called life. However, somehow I cannot get over the idea of putting someone else’s life in misery because of being so selfish about myself. So, I cannot die and I suck at living. What do I do ? After spending a lot of time I have come to the conclusion. I found 1 single thing that I loved to do. For me, that was travelling. I love to travel to different places, meeting new people and learning about their culture. So, right now my life goal is to keep earning at this job that I suck tremendously at so I keep getting funded for my travels.I would advice you to give yourself 1 more chance at it. Try to find out just that 1 thing that you love to do and find out ways of keep doing it from time to time. I will have you know, I live for travelling now. I have 4 vacations planned every year (because well, I am not even talented enough to leave my job and find ways to earn while travelling. I am a very mediocre human being).I know life sucks but as long as we are here , why quit ? Why not just give it 1 last chance and see if it works for you. I am not saying that your everyday life would not suck because of this “solution”. It would still suck. You would still be depressed. But when you are doing that one thing that you love, all those “sucky”, depressed times would seem totally worth it.Please don’t quit your life because you think it is a struggle. Keep trying to make it better by doing the thing(s) that you love to do to make your life less of a struggle.

I'm getting tempted to do drugs/sex...?

Get a grip woman! You are about to throw your life away, and you are sittin here all cas...WTF is the matter with you? You need help, now - and I am not the kind of person that can just sit back and let someone ruin their life in front of my eyes. Please, for god's sake, talk to someone you love, or trust deeply about this, or atleast one of those hotlines.... anything is better than watching you destroy you future. PLEASE do something now, or I will never forgive myself, always thinking I could have said this or that, and maybe that person would still be here today.....so for the sake of everyone around you as well as yourself - well, I hope you get the point. Just do me a favor, and deal with this while you still can.

Why do we do things we know are wrong?

We do things we know are wrong because-1)  of our 'strong DESIRE/WANT to DO it.'  'Desire' is very powerful. It is a fuel for our ACTIONS. When we are so deeply submerged by our WANT/DESIRE we don't care and think less about the consequence and we even stop thinking and being aware of if what we are doing is right or wrong. My real life example- I lie to my parents for buying books other than educational book. That is- Novels, autobiographies, etc. I know lying is wrong but I lie because my 'I WANT TO READ THIS BOOK' is so strong that I can't see any other option than lying.2)We are afraid to face the consequences if we know its not something we want it to be like. Just like in point no 1, I gave you my real life example of lying. I 'EXPECT' my parents to understand to me that I love reading but they don't. Their thinking is different from mine, they think one should read only books related to one's education. Hence, I lie and I know its wrong.3) We are conditioned to take short-cut paths in our life and choose the easiest, simplest way to do anything. Cutting a tree is an easiest task but time taken by a tree to grow? It is hardest one, it takes many year.We know most of the things are wrong before we even do it and yet we do it because of our desires, wants, needs, and conditioning of our brain. I read one beautiful story on Quora- The lowly clerk was caught red handed for accepting bribe..Miles away, at home, his wife waited for her husband to bring the money for her daughter's cancer treatment. Some people may know the reason about why they are doing the wrong. Just like in this above story, consider it as an example. "Things are as they are. Looking out into it the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations. "-Alan Watts. Thanks for A2A Rahul Burman .

Death seems so tempting now...?

Why do I feel tempted to smoke weed?

First off, those kids aren't bad for smoking it. And, you wouldn't be bad. Maybe in the eyes of the law and narrow-minded people, but weed is not harmful and it shouldn't be illegal, plain and simple. You should try watching documentaries on cannabis for more on that.

Secondly, heroin and crack ARE drugs. They are addictive disgusting substances that do not come from mother earth. They are man-made, therefore they are BAAAD, like most things that are man-made in this world. Weed is not addictive, i would say maybe only to those who have very addictive personalities.

Your parents nor doctor would find out unless they randomly forced a drug test on you, or you plan on going to the doctor any time soon and peeing in a cup.

And, it doesn't do much to you. Serious drugs mess with you. Weed is not a drug. It makes you think deeper thoughts, and really it heightens the pleasure you would feel from a lot of things like, if you enjoy music, movies, sex, whatever. For me, all i experience when i smoke is deeper thought process, a more creative/imaginative mind (which always makes me want to draw, but i lack the ability), intense focus, laughter, etc. Doesn't sound so 'bad' to me.

Why does Jehovah tempt people with doing wrong when He himself says in James 1:13, 14 he never tries anyone with doing evil things?

Trials, temptations are different from tests.
Those were not temptations. Those were tests. God did not use deceitful enticements either with the Rechabites or Abraham.

In the examples above, they were direct commands from God. "Drink the wine," and "offer up your son, your only son." God was verifying their loyalty.

He was not setting up hidden baits so that they could fall into sin. It´s the Devil who does that.

"At times Jehovah does in a sense test our inner person, including our motives. He may do this by allowing us opportunities to reveal our heart condition. He may also allow various circumstances or challenges to reveal our innermost inclinations. This gives us the opportunity to show Jehovah how devoted and loyal we are. Such tests allowed by Jehovah may prove the quality of our faith, whether we are “complete and sound in all respects, not lacking in anything.”—James 1:2-4."

Why does temptation come to a person according to the Bible?

Because we like doing bad things. Or better said, We like to do things that make us feel good. Some of those things are bad for us. Some are simple and slight— eating chocolate. Feels wonderful, but its not healthy for us. Other things are complex and destructive— Owning miles and miles of property and businesses feels great, but to acquire it you do some rather tasteless things. Anyway, evil things have the tendency to “feel good” …. so the “temptation” is that feeling of wanting to have the “good feeling” but you are thinking about the consequences … most of us fail to really weigh the consequences … or not see them. For example…. many of you are tempted to imagine a hot person walking down the street as naked …. but since we really see no consequences to it, many of us given and do so…. which then leads to the next temptation which is to go over and touch. Most Don’t give in to that because of the consequences we might fear. Others don’t, which leads them to the next temptation… and so on.

If God exists, why does he allow bad things to happen?

The common answer to this is that rape is a product of human free will.“God doesn’t rape people. People rape people.”Sounds good.God made a planet with limited resources, then placed on it highly flawed beings with paramount personal needs, whose behavior he apparently can’t or won’t control.Who could have predicted bad things would result from this?“Your honor, don’t blame me. I just put two starving children in the ring with one knife each and a single piece of cheese. I can’t be held responsible for whatever occurred as a result. They made their own choices.”Either god was too negligently stupid to realize the obvious and is now powerless to change it, or he just doesn’t care. The answer to your question is: Either god doesn’t exist, or the one that does exist is not all-powerful — or, he’s so morally bankrupt that he’s not remotely deserving of… well, of anything, really; let alone our unending love and devotion.
