Why Am I Sore After I Stretch

Why am I sore after stretching?

When you stretch too far, your muscles get micro tears - the same they would get from unusual or intense exercise. When muscle-fibers heal, they sometimes fuse together creating even tougher, less flexible ones.

When you stretch before you exercise (dance) take it it easy. After you exercised, you can go a little further. You have to find out through trial-and-error how far you can go without getting sore. Then you will make true flexibility gains.

Im sore after stretching!!!!?

I really want to be flexible and be able to do the splits but everytime i stretch i get sore. Or when i work out! I have seen an improvement by stretching but it hurts. At first i could go very far to the ground but now i am almost down to my splits but still not. I have been stretching for over a month now and still not in my splits!!:( i am a dancer and i need it soon or by next year when the season starts again. If im sore does it mean that the stretching is working? Please help!:)

Should my ears be sore after stretching?

I had my ears pierced a while back at a 10g, and i stretched them to an 8g about 2 days ago. I soaked them at least once a day each day to help keep them clean. They didn't hurt going in (aside from a very slight burning sensation), and felt completely normal after insertion. Prior to putting them in i cleaned them with the sea-salt solution, and then i did it later that night. It's only about 2 days old. It wasn't sore, wasnt oozing, nothing before insertion. It hasn't been oozing anything or bleeding since insertion. I even took one out for a moment the other day. The odd thing is, the one i didn't take out again is the one bothering me. It's not that bad, but its a little sore. Is this to be expected? Did i stretch too fast? I had them pierced at a 10g so it was not me jumping a ton of sizes. I've been careful to take it slow (my cousin ripped his left lobe by stretching too fast, and that kind of put the fear of stretching too fast in my mind).

Any tips? I'm still cleaning it with the sea-salt solutions. Only done it once each day, gonna try and up it to twice daily.

Why do I yawn after I stretch?

To complete the reflex action.Yawning and stretching go together as part of a reflex pattern called pandiculation. If you do one of these without the other, the body feels it as unfinished and goes to complete the whole action.

How to make my ears less sore after stretching?

You may be stretching too fast and you should probably downsize. For the sake of your lobes you might want to try stretching with tape. You would need to pick up some teflon tape. ONLY use TEFLON TAPE which can be found in the plumbering asile at Home Depot or Lowe's. Any other kind of tape will leach bad chemicals into your body. Stretching doesn't hurt. If it does, it's because either they are stretching too fast or skipped a gauge (or two).

Stretching from 18-8g is easy and no pain what so ever if you do it right, but it a slow process. It's not a race, if you go fast you will have a blowout, which is a tearing of the lobes which creates scar tissue and deforms the lobes.

Here is how long it usually takes between gauges:

Fresh piercing to first stretch (18g-16g): Approx 5 to 6 months
16g to 14g - 1 month
14g to 12g - 1 month
12g to 10g - 1.5 months
10g to 8g - 2 months
8g to 6g - 3 months
6g to 4g - 3 month
4g to 2g - 3 months
2g to 0g - 4 months
0g to 00g - 4 months

Remember the slower you go the happier your lobes will be. Never dead stretch (just shoving in the next gauge). Always use a taper, or taping. With taping add one layer of teflon tape every 5-7 days, and change the entire wrapping once a month. Check here for more information about taping.

If you decide to go with a taper for a while usually steel is recommended over acrylic because they make for a smooth transition. Tapers aren't meant to be worn for more than 1 hour. And always lube it up with soap and water, Vitamin E oil, Jojoba Oil, Emu Oil, or naked oil before insertion.

While your stretching ONLY wear No Flare or Single Flare plugs and never use acrylic as they will stick and cause infection since it is a porous material. Also don't use silicone in a fresh stretch. Stick to glass, steel, titanium, or stone.

You should give your lobes massages with a moisturizing oil twice a day to make them stretchy and supple. Use Vitamin E oil found in capsule form in the vitamin section at Walmart or pharmacies. Just break open a capsule and use the oil. You could even use olive oil.

My ear hole is still sore after 2 days from stretching?

Stop fiddling with it. Make sure you take those double flares out every day to ensure you can get them out. So each night take out and clean then put back in. I told you it'd be sore, its because its double flare, and as long as you have them in and keep taking them out each day, it will prolong healing time and stay sore a lot. It's not an infection. And its normal to have 1 ear be more difficult than the other. It'd be better if you switched to single flare, but you can do it the way you are, its just more difficult. If you had in single flare, it wouldn't be sore by now. Don't worry about infection, its not infected.

Good on the single flare, I think you'd be ok with it, probably the ears are a little angry from the double flare. Anything non porous would be better than acrylic as far as preventing infection. IDK about a tear, I would think that if there was one, there'd be some degree of blood. conservatively its best to downsize and that's great you did. I have been ok on a stretch using acrylic, only did it once, and I have had my ears get angry because they were too new for double flare. I've had no infections, tears, or blowouts and am at my goal of 00g (10mm) and 6g.

Wow 30mm congrats!

Is it normal to be sore after intense stretching?

If you are sore after intense stretching then that's a strong indication that you overstretched or maybe did not warm up and cool down properly. Several things fall under over stretching and those can include literally stretching your muscles too far to the point where you are tearing muscle fibers excessively. When you feel that ripping feeling a lot that's an indication of this and taken to far then things become sharper in pain. You should not be feeling much if any of that in your stretching and over stretching causes a build-up of lactic acid in your muscles and works against you becoming more flexible.

Also doing some stretches beyond your scope of flexibility is another example of overstretching. I never have beginners try to do the splits by placing their hands or elbows on the floor like I can. Instead they use the seat of a chair to help control more easily how deep they can or can not go and take some tension and weight off those muscles they are stretching. They can more easily avoid over stretching by using that chair and they then are not forced to go too deep to start with by only having the floor to put their hands on.

You need to examine what you are doing and evaluate if you are over stretching. Drink some water and eat a pinch of salt and that will help get rid of the soreness and lactic acid build up which tends to sit at the site where the muscle fibers are torn excessively or drink a bottle of Gatorade which is just flavored salt water.

Flexibility is like strength and endurance in that you build it gradually over time and with care-not over night or in leaps in bounds which is what causes a lot of this for people and them over stretching to achieve results more quickly.

Why does my body feel sore and why does it feel so good to stretch?

Stretching feels so good because it awakens our bodies and gives us the illusion of warming up. When you stretch, you are actually creating tiny tears in your muscle tissue and the body’s response is to rush warm blood to the site of damage and to begin repairs. It feels good.In lieu of stretching, I suggest to athletes and musicians to sit in a warm room and let the muscles lengthen and fill with blood naturally. Why would an athlete want to start a competition with torn muscle and a body preoccupied with repairing damage instead of performing.People need to be careful about stretching in the extreme range of motion for at that point you begin to tear tendons and tendons don’t have a strong blood supply leading to them so the body repairs the tendon tears with scar tissue which DOESN’T stretch and remains for a long time. This leads to tendonitis which is inflammation (itis) of the tendon. If your body is sore, it is most likely because you have already over stretched and torn tissue. If it is scar tissue it will be slow at healing or form knots in your muscles. A good massage will break it up. The fear of breaking it up through stretching is you could create more tears.Massage and hot tubs are the best ways to warm up a body for competition.A lot of people blame over-movement for tendonitis and such but is isn’t repetitive movement that causes problems but improper movement and over stretching. Once the tendons tear, inflame and press on nerves, doctors will treat the pressure on the nerve and rarely the true problem that you may move incorrectly. The body is like a fine mechanical watch. Everything is dependent upon all the other parts to function properly. If you move to bypass the proper muscle the tension may not be noticeable at first but will manifest over time.

Is it normal for my ears to be sore after stretching them?

yes, since it is your first stretch, its okay that its a little sore. Your body isn't used to it. But after this stretch if it hurts while putting the next size in. Don't force it. Give your ear time to heal up =)
