Why Am I Tall And I Am A Girl And I

Why can't tall girls get tall guys?

I'm 6 feet tall and I've never been out with a guy who was taller than me. While I can count the number of guys I've been out with on one hand (and I don't even need all of it), I have noticed that I can't seem to find a guy who is taller than me. It seems as if all the tall guys like short girls, you know makes them feel more like a man. And pretty much every girl likes a tall guy, or at least isn't opposed to it. And shorter guys seem to like tall girls. So the tall guys get short girls and they are both happy together, and the short guys get tall girls and they are happy. So everyone is happy except for tall girl. Is it wrong that I just want to feel like a girl for once and be a little bit shorter! This isn't really a question addressed at any one party, I'm opening the topic up for discussion to see if people have also noticed this phenomena.

Is 5'8" (173cm) tall for a girl?

I'm that tall, as an adult woman (age 25). The height is tall enough that people comment on my "long legs" at dance class. It's tall enough that I can reach things on shelves that my 5'1" coworkers can only dream of reaching. It's short enough that middle school boys start off shorter than me, and usually end up leaving the eighth grade taller than me.My height is short enough that I wear regular-length jeans instead of the harder-to-find longs. My height is tall enough that when I stood in a Jewish fraternity at college, many of the shorter guys there ignored me in favor of my 5'4" friend. Of course, that also could be partly that she looks like Rachel Ray (brown hair, brown eyes), and I have more of a Nicole Kidman complexion. Still, I strongly felt the sense that it was my height that was playing a role in getting snubbed from conversations.I bring that story up to show that there are some situations where I'm "too tall" for certain men. I wear flats always (out of preference), but I can't shrink down to match nicely with a man who is 5'6" or 5'7". Not unless you saw off a few inches of femur.I am luckily short enough and still tall enough that most men are a good match in height with me. The average male is 5'10", and we look like equals standing together (I'm just a smidge shorter than a 5'10" guy in photos).Tall guys look even better standing next to me, with my 5'8" next to their 6'1". That 5 inch gap (12.5 cm) looks masculine/feminine.And even many short guys are still date-able for a woman who is 5'8". I think I dated a guy who was 5'8.5" or 5'9", and although he was on the short end of things, it worked out in a way it wouldn't have for my 5'11" sister.(Actually, now that I think about it,  that last sentence isn't true at all... :-) In case you were wondering, my 5'11" sister is married to a man who is 5'9". He has a lot of confidence forever dating a tall, Amazonian Nicole Kidman type. Height doesn't matter where love exists.

Why am I taller than my dad? (I'm a girl!)?

I'm a Chinese girl already 5'7 and so is my dad. I will probably grow taller than him because I'm only 13. My mom is 5'4 and older sister is 5'4.5. A lot of the males on my mom's side of the family are around 6' maybe 2 inches shorter or taller. My dad is the tallest in his family, which really isn't very tall.

My questions:
1. Why am I taller than my dad?

2. Where do my genes come from? (probably my maternal grandfather?)

3. How tall will I grow? (I'm 115lbs, 5'7, quite healthy apart from the fact that I get colds/migraines/heartburn/acid reflux occasionally, sleep really early at 8:30pm, drink milk every morning, lives in a healthy place, spends 2hrs a day on computer-average)

Thanks for your advice!! I really appreciate it.

If you say something negative, then please just go away. Thanks.

Is a 5'7 12 year old girl TOO TALL?? :(?

yes that is tall, I'm a female & I'm 5'7...but I'm 20 years old, you will keep growing if you are only 12. i was about 5'5 in the 8th grade (i was around 12/13 years old) so i only grew 2 more inches, but i think it varies for everybody, you might be around 5'9/5'10 when you stop growing.
some times i hate being tall because i feel like I'm towering over everyone, the best thing you can do is embrace it, try a modeling career where being tall will work in your favor

Is 5'7" very tall for a 16-year-old girl?

No, it isn't too tall at all but being a teen and feeling different is not fun. Many of my friends went through that in their teens years and are now elegant women of 5" 7" to 6 feet. My son's girlfriend is exactly his height....5' 10" and he loves that about her. She has figured out her style and walks lovely in it.

To encourage you, by 16 most girls are done growing. I did grow another 1/2 inch after high school but that is very unusual. Guys stop growing around 24 or 25. They catch up and pass us up eventually.

Please stand up straight and do not think that rolling your shoulders forward or slouching in your chair will make you less noticeable. It will only make you appear ashamed of who you are. Make the most of who you were made to be. Choose good colors for yourself in clothes, makeup or whatever and like my soon to be daughter-in-law, walk lovely in it.

Why am I so tall?

You probably get most of your tall genes from your mother, and your mother got hers from her father.

Height is determined by multiple genes from both parents. Women also tend to be shorter than men even if they both have the exact same genes that determine height. A person inherits different copies of genes found in their parents, so siblings may be different in the number of tall genes they may have and therefore they may be different in height.

Generally, people whose parents' ancestors are adapted to cool climates tend to be shorter. For example, people whose parents have been living in northern Europe for thousands or even tens of thousands of years tend to be a lot shorter than people whose parents lived in hot climates such as East Africa or the Middle East, or if their ancestor came from the Middle East and only migrated to eastern Europe after the invention of agriculture about 10,000 years ago. People from eastern Europe tend to be much taller than people from western Europe and Scandinavia. The reason is that the longer an object (in this case the human body) the more surface area it has compared to an object that is the same volume. So, a tall person with long arms and legs can lose excess body heat more quickly because of the larger amount of body surface. Such a body shape is good for avoiding heat stroke, but not good if one is living in icy environments trying to avoid freezing to death.

Genes are not the only thing that determine height of course. Nutrition is also important. A malnourished child is not going to grow as tall as its genes will allow and growth may be so stunted that a 17 year old may only be as tall as an 8 year old. Also if a person has hormonal imbalance, he/she may keep growing even though his/her genes do not code for such great height. Conversely a person may not grow much if there is a deficiency in human growth hormone secretion during the teenage years. Calcium and vitamin D shortage can also result in deformed bones and may limit height due to rickets, a dreadful disease. Therefore if you are tall and still growing, then make sure you get enough vitamin D and calcium to avoid muscle cramps, deformed and even broken bones, all signs of rickets due to vitamin D or calcium shortage.

Why do girls always ask how tall i am?

Guys do it too just less often and its usually in regards to "do you play basketball"

Im only like 6'4 or 6'5 i didnt think that was that tall

What are your experiences as a very tall girl?

I am 6′1 right now, and I think I am done growing. But first of all let me say: I LOVE BEING TALL. I know there are a lot of people even taller, but I think 6′1 is pretty tall, and I have been tall all of my life.Even as a child, I was taller than everyone in my classes, boys included. I never really noticed until I started kindergarten that there was much of a height difference between me and my peers. But this gave me a distinct advantage above others; teachers always saw me as a leader and this made me see myself as a leader as well.Height is also a great conversation starter. No matter how tired you get of being told, “Wow you are so tall!” And really wanting to respond with, “Oh really thanks for telling me, I didn't know!” I have to admit it is nice to always have something to talk about no matter who you are talking to.Height also obviously gives a distinct advantage in sports if you know how to use it; I have always been great at basketball and volleyball (of course lol).I know a lot of tall girls, around middle school and high school age, feel hopeless that they will ever find the right guy that is handsome, nice, and taller than them, but it is really not that bad. I felt a little lonely in middle school with no boys taller than me (although I was part of a class of only 40).Despit this, I actually still had a lot of the boys in my class with crushes on me because of my friendly and fun personality. In high school, it was the same story, but I learned to not care very much, as long as I was having fun with people I liked. Now, in college, I realize that there are so many more options and so many tall boys in the world, I had nothing to worry about after all.One last fun little thing I like about my height is it makes me stand out. My family and friends are always able to spot me. On days when a put a bit more effort than usual into my appearance, I get a lot of compliments and I get asked at least once a day if I am a model lol. Also, this gives me an advantage above other girls because in public I get noticed easier and a lot of guys (taller and shorter) actually approach me to flirt or ask I I want to go out etc.Long story short; I love my height and I wouldn't trade it for the world. If you feel unsure about your height, I would say to always be confident and look on the bright side of every situation. Use it to your advantage, join a sport, anything to use the wonderful gift of height that you have been given.

Why am I so tall? As a 5′8″ girl, I am taller than all the females in my family and friends at school.

I aM an American girl with Nordic ancestry. My mother was 6′1″. I am 5′11″. I have two sons that are 6′5″ and 6′”4. My youngest son is barely 5′10″genetics are doing what they are programmed to do. I was always taller than everyone in my class…male and female. It was hard and people made fun of me. Nobody bullied me because I would've kicked their ass. But, there were snickers and jokes. It alienated me and lowered my self-esteem. Tall, and lanky….ugh.then the late teens turned my life around for the better. I filled in at all the right places and bam! Overnight I was a tall, shapely centerfold! Nobody made fun me anymore and the boys were little puppies following me around everywhere. Those mean girls that made fun of me in the past suddenly were sulking and silent when they ran into me…especially when they noticed their bfs starring at me when I walked away.embrace you height! It'll be your best friend soon enough. Tall and statuesque has its rewards.
