Pros and Cons of living in France as opposed to the United States?

I was watching Michael Moore's Sicko and was amazed about France. The way that the French take care of their people makes me want to pack my things and move there. But I know that it can't be all good.

Life for Teen Girls during the Great Depression?

Hi!

I'm a junior in high school and I'm VERY interested in history. Historical Fashion, how life was for girls during historical times in our history.
Anyways I want to write a short story about what it was like for teen girls during the depression.
What did they wear?
What was the appropriate hairstyles for 15-18 year olds, how did they accomplish them?
When were they considered "women"
Dating rules?
What school was like?
If a job could be acquired, what would it be?
Popular books?
Recipes?
Places?
Family relations?
Hope chests?
Famous People?
Issues for teens?
What was it like having boarders?
please keep in mind that I'm a junior, maybe a little more interesting or in depth stuff would be great!
Any personal stories would be fun , perhaps some websites!
Thanks so much!!!

Can you tell me a little bit 'bout educational system in America? What I need to do to become a good student?

Not all US high schools are as bad as that other poster made them out to be. I should know, I went to one. The problem most of the bad schools have isthat they are filled with stupid poor people. Avoid inner city schools.

In general what you want to do to be a good student is just make the teachers think you are trying hard. If you do that they will grade you easier and give you the benfit of the doubt in most circumstances.
Yes, you shoucl participate in extracurricular activities. They look good on applications and they keep you busy so you dont fall in with a crowd of drug addict losers.

What countries have high wages and a low cost of living?

There are no countries with high wages and low absolute costs of living.A sizable fraction of the cost of living goes directly or indirectly towards paying for the wages of other people in your own country, so if they have high wages, costs of living won’t be low.To put it bluntly; if the people working at McDonalds in a given country have high salaries — then it won’t be cheap to eat at McDonalds in that country. If however you look instead at the relative cost of living, i.e. what a decent standard of life costs as a fraction of income, then the Scandinavian countries come out near the top.The reason is that we have high wages, and at the same time low inequality and high productivity. The low inequality is important because on a relative scale, the costs of living are low for the wealthy EVERYWHERE, while only in low-inequality countries are they also low for the people with income under average.Let’s look at some example numbers to illustrate what I mean.In Norway, the institute for consumption research publishes a “reference budget” every year. This budget shows what a modest but decent lifestyle costs for a given household. For 2017 a 4-head household consisting of an adult couple plus 2 kids aged 8 and 13 would need nok 23700/month. (about 1.8 lakh ₹, or $2900) That number excludes both rent and vacations, but includes all other day-to-day expenses. (including owning and using 1 car)This is certainly not “low cost” in an absolute sense; the family could live cheaper in pretty much all other parts of the world. But in a relative sense it’s cheap. Looking at the income-statistics for the same year [1] we can see that median households with teenagers have a (after tax!) income of nok 70966, (about $8700 or ₹6 lakh) in other words median families in Norway can enjoy a decent (but modest) standard of living for 33% of their income. Adding in the median cost of rent or home-ownership, and the conclusion is that the median family in Norway can have a decent life for approximately half their income. This is cheap; and means average people have more disposable income here than in the vast majority of other countries. Even despite Norway being one of the most expensive countries in absolute terms.Footnotes[1] Svakere inntektsvekst blant norske husholdninger
