Why Are A Lot Of Posts To Yahoo Groups Not Displaying The Inline Images

What are your best tips for staying safe on the Internet?

We now have some things that didn't exist when I was younger: social networking and cellphones. How should a young person stay safe online? IMVHO, it starts with face-to-face dialogue before the computer is powered up or the cellphone turned on (most cellphones have internet access).

--The online names should NOT your own name. Use a nickname or a made-up name.

--NEVER open an e-mail or a link from someone you don't know.

--NEVER give your name or other personal information to anyone online.

--If you must post a picture online, post one that doesn't have anything that would identify your where you live. And no inappropriate pictures.

--If someone you don't know tries to instant-message you online, asks for personal information, or asks for inappropriate pictures/actions, tell a parent or trusted adult.

--Some ISPs have separate sites for children (Yahoo/Yahooligans) or a separate setting (AOL). Take advantage of them.

--If someone wants to take inappropriate pictures/webcam shots of you, refuse and immediately call the adults.

Embedded images not displaying in groups?

In my Yahoo groups, messages with embedded images are not displaying. A container appears with nothing in it. This is happening using several browsers (Ie, Chrome, FireFox), and is happening on different computers that different group members use. So far the same issue is present on all user's computers. This is a somewhat new problem but I'm not clear exactly when it started. However, I do know that we used to be able to see embedded images. Attached images work fine, it's just those that are embedded in the email message to the group.

I have walked through all the help info i can find which says to turn on image display in my browser (was already on) and to try it without my firewall (didn't change the problem).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks -- dan

For Yahoo Groups; Inserting links and photos in messages and conversations?

In Yahoo Groups, how do you add links and photos into your messages/conversations?

Formerly, when writing a message you could choose a "rich-text" format that allowed you to insert links, photos, etc into your message. Now I don't have that option.

Am I missing something?

Attach photo to yahoo group message?

Hello LarryB,

In order to post a photo attachment to your Yahoo! group, you must send an email from your subscribed email address with an attachment using your email provider. If you use Yahoo! Mail, you can send an attachment by following the steps in this Help article:

"Attaching photo and document files to an email message"
http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont...

If you use another email provider and need help sending an attachment, please consult your email provider's help resources.

Note: Not all groups allow attachments. You can check to see if a particular group allows attachments by clicking on the Settings tab in the "Info and Settings" box, located under the left-hand menu of any page in a group.

I hope this helps! Please let us know either way!

Why can't I see pictures attached to Yahoo! group messages, even when viewing from the group website?

I used to be able to see pictures attached to messages then one day I just noticed I couldn't any longer.

The group is set to allow attachments and other users do see the photos. I do not get them in emails, nor do I see them when browsing the group's website (yes, I'm logged in).

The bottom of the message when viewed from the group website says the name of the photo file and then "Attachment Not Stored".

I have checked my membership settings and I am using a full-featured subscription (although that appears to only apply to emails received from the group rather than the online browsing experience).

I am using Windows 2000 and Mozilla Firefox BUT I have the same trouble with IE.

My computer is not blocking images from the page and there is no warning or option to over-ride pop-up blocking, etc. as one is accustomed to receiving when images are blocked this way.

This is the case on 3 different computers using my account on dozens of Yahoo! groups.

Is Posterous Groups good for sharing files or batches of photos?

Yes - Posterous is a great place for this as long as your batches of photos or files total less 100MB - each individual post is limited to 100 MB,  If you post multiple photos, Posterous will automatically create a gallery for you and display thumbnails; alternatively, you can turn galleries off and display the photos inline in a web-friendly format.  No need to resize your photos, just sent them in.If you send Posterous a  .pdf, .doc or .ppt, Posterous will automatically embed and display  through a partnership with scrib'd.Finally, you have the option of enabling others to download your full size images - the default setting has this turned on.   If you are concerned about preventing others from downloading your images, Posterous is not the best place to host your images as there are not any sophisticated ways of blocking downloading and 'save as' behavior
