Why Are Animals Treated Like Objects

Do u think slaves were treated more like objects or animals?

Better than 90 percent of them were treated well. They did not consider themselves the lowest rung of society, poor (usually white) farmers were beneath them as were "Irishmen" Most slaves lived on the same plantation for generations---Slaves that were sold usually for reasons of their owners going bankrupt in hard times--Taken by the debtors, and also some troublesome slaves were sold---Scars from beatings reduced their value--so selling them was the best way to go.
Slaves were given clothing, housing food, and medical care---all of good quality too---and were taken care of in youth and old age.---They were both expensive and critical to the workforce. Banks used slaves to determining the "worth" of the masters, and loans, etc. were based on this.---All good reasons to keep the slaves happy and healthy.
Most slaves were not educated---although some parts of the country allowed educating slaves and some did not..In some places slaves could even own firearms and ammo---for hunting.--There were rules and exceptions to rules depending on what state one was in---
WHile all the horror stories were true---they were NOT typical---but still no justification for the institution.

Why do people treat animals like objects?

determining to purchase eggs has an identical result as mass killing toddler infants. ????? it extremely is between the dumbest issues I even have ever heard. You do understand that the eggs you consume arent fertilized, precise? LOL, this coming from somebody who in all threat helps abortion. LOL its too plenty, this ought to be in a humor area. on the severe part although. I consume animals because of the fact they style sturdy and because its healthy. Hunters and fisherman have finished greater sturdy for animals than any animal rights org ever dreamed of doing. I dont understand why some people choose to demonstrate stay animals like they could a trophy. as long because of the fact the animal is cared for to blame I see no injury, yet I dont do it.

How were slaves treated like animals?

You have heard of mistreatment of slaves in "Uncles Tom Cabin". Then you have the people claiming the blacks were so much better off as slaves. Both were bull ****. The truth was some where in the middle. If you bought someone, say for 500,000 would you mistreat them? Of course, not what would happen to you the first time you turned your back? Sure, you'll be dead. I am not saying there was a big happy setting it just was not all whippings and cuffing. Even though it was against the law in many places many blacks could read, write and do math. Keep in mind blacks were looked on as being inferior to whites but at the same time people frown on people for mistreating their animals the same goes for their ill treatment of blacks. A slave would grow up only knowing their way of life; they would develop feelings for their owners. They saw their owners as their security blanket, food, a roof over their head the occasional handout, pat on their head; something that made them think you cared. In the South, many slave owners did develop feelings toward their slaves, but as I keep saying, do not get me wrong the slave owner could never afford to miss a chance to show dominance. Be it voice fluxation; tone; a trinket to win their affection or loyalty; punishment, think of the ways “you” show dominance over the geek or the new guy! Great question by the way! God Bless You and The Southern People.

Why do women complain about being treated like objects?

Yes, it is honestly one of the most stupid things that anyone has ever uttered about anything.

OF COURSE people are objects. What else could we be: wraiths or smoke? Of course we are made up of atoms. What a stupid thing to say. How could anyone treat anyone else other than as a thing having reality?

If we didn't treat them as objects, what are we supposed to do: treat them as subjects: confuse them with ourselves?

It's just such rank stupidity. Not to mention the hypocrisy. Because the same feminists complaining about women being treated as objects are foremost in angrily demanding that men be treated as objects to pay for all the benefits they demand through the political process, and which are to be backed up by physical force.

The stupidity would be nauseating if it weren't for the fact that the hypocrisy is ever more nauseating.

Why do people sell animals as if they are just objects?

People sell animals on as if they're objects because, to that person, that's exactly what they are. They're pennies, decoration, or something quirky. (that's usually only the issue with 'designer' dogs/cats/etc or exotic animals, though - labradors aren't exactly considered quirky anymore)

If I had to adopt some of my animals out, I would only want them to go to someone who had a halo on their head. I wouldn't care about the money, because the money will go quickly. The feeling that the pets went to a good home is all I want. Yet some people only look for cash on collection, or maybe a swap.

I can understand why people want money, to an extent. If I were to breed rats, I would charge a lot of money. The main reason is this: it's difficult to know when you're talking to a feeder breeder. In fact, there is somebody who keeps mice as pets and is very, very famous in the mouse world. Nobody seems to know this as they're very vague about it, but they routinely cull their mice and breed/kill them for food. My point is that you don't really know what's beneath the surface. The price does, to an extent, ensure the animal gets a decent home. (if you're going to be killing it in a few months time, why should you spend £40 on a rat?)

Should human beings be allowed to use other animals as objects of sport and entertainment?

Absolutely not, if it is detrimental for the animal.
Animals should not be objectified as a focus for our sport or entertainment. Humans are supposed to be intelligent yet are still using animals for 'fun': Bullfighting, deer hunting, c*ck fighting, dog fighting, greyhound racing, fox hunting, horse racing is all about money, whipping is very cruel and every year horses are thrashed to go over hurdles that they can't all jump, the injured horses are then referred to as 'obstacles' in the track and shot on site, all very cruel. Here in Britain perfectly healthy racehorses have their lives cut short each year due to the Grand National, 3 died of injuries this year. This 'fine display of a horse's prowess and majesty' was their run of death! Because this is the 1st year horses had to be shot in full view of the public they were up in arms about it, they thought it was 'entertainment' gone too far. Racing dogs are retired at a very early age then taken to a shed and wired up to the mains and electrocuted as this is the cheapest method to kill them. As for hunting, Deer are left without mothers and die needlessly, fox hounds are trained on fox cubs, flushed from their den, then the hounds are shot before they are 6 years old.
...There is a lot behind animals for entertainment and most of it is with no regard to the animal.
No, it's about time humans moved on.

What right do we have to treat animals with disrespect?

You are asking the wrong question. The question you should ask, and the one I think your really trying to address is: what right do I have to be? To answer this question you have to inquiry into a lot of other questions. For example: what is it to exist, what is consciousness, is consciousness a learned phenomenon, what is freedom, do we have freedom, do we have innate rights, our relationship to other, are we sovereign self's, do we have a will, the relationship we have to our will, and is the material world just appearances. The list goes on and on. What your asking is a very good question indeed.

The idea that we are superior then animals is a ideology that we have constructed ourselves. It is a product of our society; the idea that we have basic innate rights, that we are the only conscious being that exists, that we are rational beings that actually make choices that are not determined or arbitrary. To answer your question, we do not have the right to disrespect other creatures on Earth. We first have to recognize the unity of all object/subjects (beings) in the material world; to harm any other object/subjects (beings) is to harm ourselves. If you are looking to fix this breed in ideology you would have to change so much of how we perceive our reality. Its something I do not ever think we will fix before the next great world extinction that occurs.

I feel like my friend treats me like an object?

I looked at this because I half know what you're talking about, I have an insensitive friend too, but there's a reason behind that. Maybe there's a reason behind Tom's? I don't know. I think you should be asking yourself how much you value your relationship, because seriously, he doesn't sound like he's treating you well at all. I mean, I have my insensitive best friend, but I love him like family. Also, if he's taking you for granted I guess you should kinda think about wether he'd miss you if you wasn't around him anymore, 'cause no, it's not your job to entertain him. But, y'know, if you do want to keep him as a friend, then maybe point out to him that you don't like how he treats you. To be honest, if it was me, I'd probably mention it and if he didn't like it, I don't think how he treats people is right and wouldn't bother being his friend.... I would really feel the same way as you. Idk, if this answer means anything to you, I thought I'd just comment...
