What is the ethnic background of the majority of the Uruguayan people?
90% of the population is “white” although this is how much people feel like since it’s their skin color. Most of Uruguay ethnic background come from Europe, specially from Spain and Italy. But this 90% are actually most Mestizos, which is basically the combination of White European and Amerindian. For most Uruguayans we are half Guarani or Half Charrua. The other part of the percentage are 4% black 4% people who are more amerindian than european and 2% full amerindian.
Are Uruguayans really white or mestizos in the majority?
I would like to know if someone was in Uruguay would you consider Uruguayans white or not? Because it seems to be strange for me that in country where were Amerindians, Africans and whites there are mix of races. Also I've seen some photos and I wouldn't say they are whites http://www.lr21.com.uy/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/obra-plan-juntos-uruguay-mujica-e.jpg So what is the truth?
Are Argentina,Uruguay,and Chile white Nations.?
It's true! The european descendants are the great majority and there has been a successful racial mixture (mestizo) between locals and colonizers. This is not bigotry it's reality.
Why is Argentina considered Latin American?
I want to answer to you the same thing i answered to Diego.... Argentina's population is around 70-80% "white" which means light to tan complexion and basic "caucasian" features. (This, according to census)Percentually, yes, Argentina has more euro ancestry than the US, but from southern european countries such as Italy, Spain, France, etc in its majority. There is a very important german influence in the south of the country , as much as a strong indigenous influence in the northern provinces, as Diego mentioned. Most of Argentina's population is located in the central provinces, which are the ones with the most european influence. Lots of argentines have indigenous roots, of course, but most of them have faded away beacuse of the constant admixure of european blood. This happens a lot in the US too. This has no effect on Argentina's condition of latin american country. "LATIN" means "from countries with romantic languages" And that's exactly what Argentina is. Our culture is latin , more oriented to euro latin counntries but we still have a strong indigenous influence in our customs, foods, and words. For example, "CHE" is an indigenous word, which means "people". TANGO has a known native influence, and so does MATE. Don't even get me started with FOLKLORE....I hope my answer was helpful and not too delayed....
Is Argentina really a white country?
Quoting Wikipedia because I’m lazy (Argentines - Wikipedia):OverviewArgentina is, along with other areas of new settlement like the United States, Canada, Australia or Brazil, a melting pot of different peoples. In the mid-19th century a large wave of immigration started to arrive in Argentina due to new Constitutional policies that encouraged immigration, and issues in the countries the immigrants came from such as wars, poverty, hunger, famines, pursuit of a better life, among other reasons. The main immigration sources were from Europe, the countries from the Near and Middle East, Russia and Japan. Eventually Argentina became the second country that received the most immigrants in the world, only second to the United States. Therefore, most Argentines are of European descent, and are either descendants of colonial-era settlers and/or of the 19th and 20th century immigrants from Europe, with about 86% of the population being of ethnic European descent. The most common ethnic groups are Italian and Spanish (including Galicians and Basques). It is estimated that up to 25 million Argentines, up to 60% of the total population, have Italian ancestry, wholly or in part. There are also Germanic, Slavic, British and French populations.Smaller Jewish, Native, Arab, Asian, Gypsy, and African communities contribute to the melting pot.Recent decades immigration includes mainly Paraguayans, Bolivians and Peruvians, among other Latin Americans, Eastern Europeans, Africans and Asians. So, basically, there are a ton of white people, but they are not all that there is to Argentina. In my experience, it depends a lot on which part of Argentina you are visiting, and on whether you are in an affluent neighborhood or not. Then again, who cares?
Are most Argentinians white?
Are most Argentinians white?I'm from the US, but when I was 19 years old I went and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentine for a couple years. At the time I was very ignorant of what South America in general was like. Granted, I'm still pretty ignorant, but at least I know that now. Back then I assumed the media had shown me everything I needed to know. I thought everywhere south of the US would be like Mexico. I imagined everyone having darker skin and eating spicy food.So imagine my surprise when I get to Argentina and I see a lot of different skin and hair colors, and there's hardly any spicy food to be found. Something that was also interesting for me is that I thought their accents sounded more like Italian accents than Mexican. So there's a lot of diversity, but to answer the question, I would say there were a lot of people, probably the majority I met, could be placed in the US and most of us wouldn't know they weren't from here. One interesting thing though is that, personally at least, I met very few people with blond hair and/or blue eyes. Granted, blond hair isn't the most common hair in the US, but you probably see a dozen or more people each day who are blond. It may have just been the area I lived in, but I met only a few people who were blond. That may be different in other areas though.
Is the majority of South America white?
Not really, because outside of Argentina and Uruguay, and arguably Brazil and Chile, the percentage of full on white people in the rest of South America doesn’t reach 51%.Still, If you consider would be white American people with Native American ancestry some ten generations ago to be full on white people then out of all of the groups in South America this would be white is the most significant.Outside of Argentina, Uruguay, and arguably Brazil and Chile, the percentage of white people per nation goes anywhere from nearly 10% to the late 40% ish, with the notable exceptions of Guyana and Suriname where white people is not even 5% (but they would consider themselves more linked with the Caribbean than with South America).Even for Paraguay where the mestizo population escalates to 75%, the ‘‘white’’ population manages to reach 20% of the net population.Whats interesting is that even for the highest estimates of whites the difference between white and mestizoes in the whole of South America is only about 6% which means the tendency to admixture between whites and natives is almost as high as that of white on white unions.
Why does Uruguay and its people look European?
Wow, Tsss is a retard. The reason is because Uruguay had a large European immigration (Italy, Spain, German, and French) around 85% of Uruguay's population is white (european). Don't ask this question to Americans, they are very uneducated in this subject.
