Why Are Brand New Cars So Quiet

Should I get a brand new car at 18 years old?

I'm trying to think this thoroughly, and thoughtfully. I want to be reasonable. I'm getting my drivers licenses in a few months, when I turn 16. Of course, I'm not going to be driving a brand new car right away. Instead, I told my mom I rather share her car with her; thus, doing so, I'd get two years of good practice with an older car. She told me, I should get a new car - since I'd be using it for 6 years throughout pharmacy school. I also offered to get a part time job and help her pay the monthly payments and gas. Also, I have a part time job now, to save up for payments later on (she's saving for the down payment). However, I'm not quiet sure if I should get a brand new car. In any such case of an accident, that would be horrible.. which is why I'm willing to get an older car. So, I'm not sure of what to do. Any suggestions? Remember I'm getting it in two years, and I will be driving a good two years with an old car, before I get a new car.

Why is my new puppy so quiet?

So recently I've gotten a new Japanese Spitz puppy (4 mths old) who was pretty playful and hyper when he was at the pet shop. But when he was in the car and at home, he got pretty quiet and all he does now is sleep. I highly doubt it's seperation anxiety as the rest of his littermates were already sold. Is there something wrong with my puppy?

Why are new cars so horrible?

I'm an 18 year old male and I'm a huge car enthusiast. I love cars and driving. I'm starting to wonder why new cars aren't so great. I had to give my friend's little brother a ride somewhere. His dad told me to take their car. A brand new Ford Explorer SUV. I thought I liked them until I drove a few. I'm noticing the same things about almost every new car.

-They feel cheap
-Uncomfortable
-Too many blind spots
-Too hard to change A/C/heat due to unnecessary touch screens
-Can't rest my arm on the door due to the excessive height and thickness of the panel
-Too quiet
-Steering wheels are too small with too many buttons
-Headlights blind other drivers
-Phone systems (supposed to be DRIVING not talking on the phone)
-Driver assist (promotes lazy driving)
-Require a special team and tools to work on it
-Bulbs don't last
-Excessively dark windows make driving at night difficult
-Recalled too often and unreliable
-Can't diagnose common problems without a computer
-No style at all and boring to drive

I prefer older cars because they're easier to work on, they're simple and not full of unnecessary features, they're comfortable, and they're easier to drive. When I was 16, I had the opportunity to drive both a 1976 Ford and a brand new Ford. I liked the old one better. The new one was difficult to see out of because of all the blind spots. A car is really only as safe as the driver in it. I'm not saying anything about a particular brand. I'm saying new cars aren't that great.

How can i make my car engine run quiet (purr)?

often as the engine wears the upper end loosens up in the head causing a clicky ticky sound and idling a bit rough. a new timing belt or chain, rechecking all torque values on the top end rockers etc and an oil addative might do wonders. other options and thoughts would be to check the actual oil presure and replace the pump is signicantly lower, replace the overhead cam shaft or shafts if equipped as they may be worn and just a thought but maybe powder coating the valve cover may reduce the resinating of the sound as well.

Brand New Rotors, brand new pads, so why is it squealing?

It is caused by the type of pads used. The only way to correct this is have a better brake pad put on.

Which car brand is the quietest in terms of road noise coming inside?

Generally speaking:Larger cars are quieterMore luxurious cars are more insulated, and hence quieterCars with larger engines tend to be quieter - while not road noise, engine noise can be significant in many carsCars with sporting pretensions tend to be louderCars that cruise at lower RPMs tend to be quieterHatchbacks tend to be a bit noisier than sedans as there’s less separation between the rear of the interior and the rear chassisA lot of the noise you hear is engine noise. Electric cars are some of the quietest cars on the road because of this. The Model S is super quiet - but all you’re going to hear is road and wind noise.Sometimes the characteristics of a sound may be more important than the absoluteSome brands prioritize cabin noise a bit less than others. Honda and Mazda are usually a bit louder than the competition, though I haven’t been in a current generation Accord - somehow I feel that they’ve probably closed that gap.Cars in a given class will tend to be more similar than different. For example, an Audi A8 and BMW 7 series are very quiet cars, but an Audi S8 will tend to be louder, and an R8 will be significantly louder still. The S8 is the performance version of the A8, and the R8 is a sports car. Cars with harder, high fuel efficiency tires will tend to be louder, too.In general, sportier brands (BMW, Mazda, Porsche) will be louder than comparable less sporty brands that sell cars that are in competition with each other (Mercedes, Buick, Lexus). Usually if the cars come with higher profile tires (taller sidewalls), consider it an indication that the car is geared more towards quiet comfort than handling and performance - and vice versa. There are enough really quiet cars out there that I don’t feel there’s a need to specify one brand as the quietest. I’d be willing to bet that the Lexus LS, BMW 7 series, Mercedes S class, and Audi A8 are all pretty close to each other in sound level, for example, and the way the car is equipped will have more effect on the way they sound than the model differences (see my comment about lower profile tires).
