Why Are Knots Present On Timber Surfaces

Does anyone have plans or know where to get them to build a small boat out of plastic wood?

i would like to build a small boat out of plywood , plank construction or plastic wood. I can buy plastic wood here in my town and this makes sense but has anyone built a boat recently out of plastic wood. And what were the costs etc.

Will super glue work on wood?

I use superglue (cyanoacrylate) on wood all the time with great results, but with the following caveats:Buy the good stuff. If it’s not around $10/oz it’s not the good stuff.(Actually, I’ve done well with Gorilla Superglue but the off-label brands don’t set right and don’t hold up.) My favorite brand is Hot Stuff that I get from Woodcraft Supply. The wood surfaces have to make perfect contact. The ordinary superglues are not good at gap filling and your joint will fail if the parts are not in intimate contact. There are gap filling superglues, but they have never worked well for me.They’re only “instant” if you use accelerant on them.Hardening time is around five minutes without an accelerant, a few seconds with one. Using the accelerant doesn’t affect joint strength one way or the other. But if you use it, apply glue to one side of the joint, accelerant to the other, then quickly (!) set them in place and hold them for twenty seconds or so.If you’re bonding small joints, there’s an old model builder’s trick that you can try. First clamp the joint in place dry, then run the water thin glue (usually red label) into the joint, where it will seep deep into the interface. This way you can do the joint setup and the gluing in two steps. If you have some left over, it keeps forever in the freezer. When (not if) you stick your fingers together don’t panic - just peel them apart then scrape off the residue with a dull knife.Do NOT try the old trick of gluing your friend’s butt to the toilet seat. You can lose a lot of friends that way.Superglue is great for repairing split fingernails or for emergency patches of small cuts.EDIT: Copied from a comment string with Ron Restorff :But I still use regular glue (actually, West System epoxy) for gluing up stacked blanks or assembling work from independently turned parts. I’ve heard from gallery owners that some pieces glued up with CA are starting to come apart after fifteen or twenty years.

What is a B-spline curve?

Base Spline curve are technical computer graphics architectural con-structural constructs. B-Spline curves include dynamic compression/tension physical science forces in weighted control vertices (cv’s) that traverse hulls to shape curves (splines). Derived from ship building practices splines are akin to flexible sea soaked timbers constrained by edit points (knots) and shaped via weighted (cv’s) and rope-like hulls.
