Why Are So Many Blacks On Food Stamps. Even Then Still Hungry And Not Enough Nutrition.

Would America be better off without food stamps?

Yes. I suggest that we’d be better off eliminating food stamps, and welfare of all kinds, including section 8 housing, I’d even eliminate social security, ~completely. Then I’d end all government subsidies for medical insurance companies, and remove the requirement forcing young and healthy people to buy expensive insurance from these private insurance companies. Of course I wouldn’t prevent anyone from purchasing insurance on their own if they so choose. This would eliminate the need for jobs related to providing these services, so I’d let them all go do something else. Then I’d build brick and mortar hospitals and medical clinics, and hire doctors and nurse and staff. These medical services would be free to the public. This would help to eliminate non-value added activity, inefficiencies and waste in our current system. People could still use whatever private medical practices or services they want to, but would pay for it out of their own pockets. Then implement a basic monthly income payment of say $1500 to $2000 per adult, paid to every living American citizen, regardless of their financial means.~Have all the kids you like, they can’t draw basic income until reaching age 18.Those people who don’t work for whatever reason will live on this basic income amount, and no further assistance is provided by government. Then people who do work will benefit from having a higher standard of living compared to those who don’t. And the dynamics incentivizing people not to work changes immensely. It would eliminate the hassle and stress placed on people who genuinely need assistance, eliminate fraud and waste. And the basic income could come with strings attached, like mandatory voting, or you become ineligible for basic income payment if you are convicted of a felony.

It's so unfair, why can't I get food stamps?

A monthly income of $5000 is well above the poverty line, and they are not going to take into account all the bills your family may owe. Try contacting some type of social services office in your area to explain the situation, as it's very important you get adequate nutrition during pregnancy.

How can we eat healthy on food stamps?

Baking your own bread is one good way

you can buy beans at a health food store by bulk or bag; beans such as Anazaki, black beans, adzuki beans (all easy to digest)
One cup of beans makes enough to serve a meal and freeze some or store as leftover to be eaten within a couple of days

Rice (brown is best, short grain tasty) one cup of rice makes enough to serve some and keep some as leftover or freeze

make your own gravy/sauces

einkorn pasta ( all types) is very healthy or any wheat pasta

eggs, hard boiled for deviled if you so like, or egg salad

Tuna salad

salad with tuna or chicken
raw cheese (health food store) not cheap but can be portioned for various types of serving

pancakes w/egg or with eggs---eggs are a perfect protein with good vitamins and minerals --free range is best

whole chicken is cheapest and can make 2-3 meals

Inexpensive cuts of beef such as round, flank or chuck roasts cooked at a low heat (300 degrees) for two hours will satisfy that beef hunger

baking, or other potatoes

making your own fresh salads for veggies

any fresh fruit such as bananas ( least costly)

and pray a lot =) God will help you

Why are there people who have not enough to eat in the U.S.?

Food insecurity is a serious problem in the United States. Despite the great concentrations of wealth at the top of society, many blue collar jobs don’t pay enough to support a family. Unless there are two adults working full time, families need assistance to provide food, clothing and shelter. Although there is a stereotype about minorities receiving welfare, more white households (40%) receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) otherwise known as food stamps. 25% of recipients are Black, with other minorities filling in the bottom of the ladder.Dependig on the state they live in, households may receive assistance if they are at as much as 200% of the federal poverty level, which is set at $20,090 for a family of three (as of 2016). This means that a family of three, earning $40,180, is still not earning enough to cloth, feed and house themselves, due to high costs of living.13.1 million children in the US live in food insecure households, and 14.5, or nearly 20% of America’s children live in poverty. The reasons for this are complicated, and have to do with federally mandated minimum wages, income distribution and redistribution through taxes, food programs, TANF (Temporary Aid to Needy Families) and the increasing concentration of wealth at the top of the pyramid over the past quarter century, making it more and more difficult for working class and middle class families to achieve the social mobility that was once part of the American ideal.Up until the 1970s, a rising tide really did lift all boats. The economy was growing at a steady rate, and all income levels benefited from this post-war growth. That changed in the mid 70s, and the distribution of wealth, as opposed to income, become more unequal, until currently, 3% of people control 50% of the wealth. Some surveys suggest an even more uneven distribution, with wealth concentrated in fewer hands.A Guide to Statistics on Historical Trends in Income InequalityWealth Inequality | Inequality.org2016 Federal Poverty Level - Obamacare.net

Why should we help the poor in other countries?

I understand its sad that people in other countries are starving to death and very poor and dont get me wrong i think its great people are helping them.
BUT
Am i the ONLY one who thinks we should help the people in America first? What about the poor starving people here? You rarely see celebs giving money to charities in America for people. Its usually africa.
