Why Are Some People Proud To Be Mixed In Their Ancestry

Is is ok to be proud of being mixed-race?

When some people say they are proud of their race, heritage etc its mainly because deep down they feel insecure and effected by what they are.

Why is the need to advertise you are proud?..Is it because its wrong being mixed race and you feel isolated?.

We all are Humans and all races are of God's Creation so why shud one say they are more superior then other and more prouder then other?.

You should just act normal and stop this patriotism of race as it will only show your effected by the negative statements about your race.

Its as though your trying to make a point and try to say mix race people might be bad and inferior but your still proud.

there is no need to advertise this because some ppl can take it the wrong way and assume your trying to say your race is better then theirs.

Everybody is proud of themselves and their race. All have unique history. I know mix race in history werent very big or had any impact in society but that doesnt mean you have to make it look its bad. Because by saying loudly your proud means exactly that, bad.

Just get on with life man!.

Peace!!!.

Are white Americans proud of their European ancestry?

In my anecdotal experience, the least accomplished ones tend to be the most proud of their ancestry. This is because they have very little to be proud of in the first place so they fall back on their ancestral culture in order to feel a morsel of worth. These are the ones who are the most jingoistic about it.The second and more common type are the holiday nationalists. These are the ones who pull out their European culture during the holidays. (The Irish on St. Patricks Day, the Italians on Columbus Day, and so on).Overall though, most Americans tend to be prouder of being American v. European. Afterall, most European-Americans have mixed with other European-Americans so it is not easy for them to feel attachment to any one country - except America.

Why aren't people proud to be white?

White people should be proud. The world is modern and growing all because of white accomplishments; we wouldn't be answering this question right now if it wasn't for the world wide web created by a white man. The white race has accomplished more than any other race in history.

White people are not only the most intelligent race but we are also the most empathetic and we do feel a sense of guilt of what our ancestors did to lesser races e.g. blacks and slavery. But it's stupid to feel bad over something which happened before we were even born and therefore have no control over.

Why are many white Americans of mixed European ancestry?

Historically many immigrants lived in communities of people from their same country of origin. In some (not all) cases that still happens today. When moving to a new country it helps to live near people with the same language and customs. They can form a support network for one another as they adjust to the new culture. Single people new to the country might marry others from their same community. The next generation often grows up bi-lingual. They learn the language and culture of the home country from their family. But they also learn English, go to school and associate with classmates, teachers and other people from the broader community. They may be from Germany originally but associate with people whose parents or ancestors came from elsewhere. They have one foot in each culture but likely socialize with people from the larger community and thus may make friends and meet spouses from different ancestries. If the German marries someone English then they are the first generation to mix. The third generation often loses the original language. They may celebrate customs passed down from both parents and invent new traditions of their own. They may marry someone with a similar ancestry or with a different mix. And so it continues through the generations. While many of us can identify our ancestry (I'm 1/2 German, 3/8 English, 1/8 Dutch) we also understand that we're more American than we are the sum of our parts. We're less likely to be concerned about finding a partner who is exactly the same. Of course if we go back far enough in time we can find that people have moved around and mixed since well before we came to North America. If we go back even farther we see that we're all originally from Africa and that we're all related to some degree anyway. We're almost all a mix of something, especially if our ancestors moved farther and farther from Africa. As an example of this I recently watched this 2 part  documentary on British comedian Eddie Izzard. He was given a DNA test and then worked with the scientists to trace his ancestry through his DNA to see what path his ancestors took from the time they left Africa to the time they got to England. It turned out their last stops before England were in areas that are now Germany and Denmark. So you could call him A German Danish Brit (or a Viking/Saxon Brit) but that would still be only fairly recent history. Meet the Izzards 1Meet the Izzards 2

Why do some Dominicans continue to deny their African Ancestry?

I'm a Dominican American woman in my early twenties. I have always been proud of my African ancestry. I have been mistakened for an African American but it has never bothered me. I always considered myself a black woman and I feel I have the best of both worlds because of it, but I have members of my family and some friends of the same background that want no part of anything "African" or "Black". Why is it that some Dominicans find their African Ancestry as more of a curse...than what it should be...a gift?

Im aware of the effects of the reign of Rafael Trujillo left on the social state of Dominican Republic and the history of slavery and disrimination against African Americans in the United States. But why is it that 47 years later, there is still a stigma with "Blackness" and the presence of the ridiculous standard influenced by American White Supremacy? I'm not suprised by the Older Generations, because that is what they were taught. It is the Younger Generations that alarm me

Why are some black americans ashamed of their african ancestry?

I just don't get it, people go on and on about I'm black and I'm proud this and that, yet when Africa is mentioned they speak about how they are not from there, and none of they're ancestors are african. I've even met a bunch who rather say they're ancestors are jamaican which is contradicting themselves because jamaicans have african ancestry. Pretty much every black american I've met refuses the title african american, and even riddicules it.They'd rather make fun of africa than admit to having anything to do with it. Why are the same people who are saying be proud of who you are, ashamed of their own ancestry and what made them who they are today?

P.S. I don't mean to say every black person is like this, that is why I put "some" in the question. I'm just referring to all the ones I've met. I'm not trying to offend anyone, this is a serious question.

Why are some Latin Americans so eager to claim European ancestry?

There are two sides on the answer. One, whether there is or not any legitimacy for Latin Americans to claim cultural and/or racial links to Europe. To which I say: there definitely is. I can list many elements of European culture that have influenced Latin America, beggining with the fact that we’re Spanish/Portuguese speakers who practice Christianism. The whole Latin American identity revolves around the fact that we were conquered by Spain and Portugal. Our culture, while heavily influenced by indigenous and African components, still has a lot of European to it. Art movements such as Baroque, the Enlightenment (a big element to our independence movements) and even recent ones such as Surrealism or the Sexual Liberation and Communist movements of the 60’s and more. We can easily say that Latin America is Western or if it’s not, it’s the most westernized place on Earth (aside from the West itself, of course). There are even many Latin Americans who directly descend from the Europeans who came here: Spanish or Portuguese and to a much lesser degree of other European countries.A map I found on the web. I checked the percentages for several countries and it seems accurate. The second side is: are Latin Americans more eager to recognize the European ancestry than the indigenous or African ones? Again, the answer is yes.Let’s not fool ourselves. Most people here do have a preference for Europe. Some people, especially those who have a recent German, French, Italian ancestry treat that as a badge of honor, while I’ve known cases of families where a recent indigenous element is a matter of shame they hide.We see it when families talk about their ancestors and are eager to see who of their grand-children get blue eyes. When some Latinos overrepresent the European migration to their country (which, with the exception of Argentina, never reached the rates that were seen in the United States). When people in this site love talking about diversity in their country only when it means a small wave of European migration or a celebrity with a fancy Dutch or German surname. Why this? It’s just the mentality people have because of hundreds of years of colonial rule and white people being the elites even after independence. So there you have. Do we have any links to Europe? Yes. Do Latin Americans appreciate the “European connection” more than the indigenous one? Also yes.

Is the "Biracial/Mixed" agenda a racist attack against black people in America?

Majority of black people who have European DNA is due to RAPE. So why would a black person be proud of or claim these roots at all???

If you are black and DNA results say 13% European and you don't have a single white person in your family, then something is wrong, ESPECIALLY if your family comes from the South, like 90% of black familes do.
