Why is the Germany soccer team away jersey green?

There is a couple of possible explanations for this, however i think much of it has been lost in history so I don't think anyone can know  for sure. The first one is, that the green color is derived from the color of the DFB (German FA) logo, which traditionally is green, supposedly derived from the color of the pitch.A second theory, and my personal favorite, is that the green color is to honor the Ireland national team (who traditionally wears green jerseys) and supposedly were the first team to play Germany after the 2nd World War in 1951.Since the millennium the away jersey has changed from green to black to red and now back to the traditional green again.

Why do Australia’s national teams wear green and yellow if such colours aren't in their flag?

Australia’s national colours are green and gold pretty much because a former Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, said so. Before 1984, Australia had no “official” colours but could use red, white and blue, or blue and gold, as well as green and gold.I actually remember Hawke saying this on television after some international sporting event where an Australian team in some sport or other was victorious. I don’t remember the exact words, but somebody asked him why the Australian team chose green and gold when it should actually have been blue and gold, and he declared it should be green and gold, and shortly after that, green and gold became the official colours. The gold represents the golden wattle, which is Australia’s national flower and appears on our Coat of Arms. I don’t think there has ever been an explanation of where the green comes from. But even though until quite recently in our history green and gold were not the “official” colours, they have been used fairly consistently in international sporting competitions since before Federation in 1901, and although I don’t know for sure, I believe this is well before Brazil began taking part in any kind of international sport. So even though green and gold are on the Brazilian flag, you might equally ask why they did not choose different colours for their teams when there was already another country using them. You could have had blue and white ;)As for the Southern Cross, because it was there. It is the most distinctive and easily recognised constellation in the skies over Australia, and is visible in the night skies all the year round in the southern portion of the country, and in most other areas for most of the year.

Is it safe to wear a Green Bay Packers jersey to a Detroit Lions game?

I've been to Packers-Lions games where half the crowd seemed to be wearing Green Bay jerseys, so I don't think you have much to worry about. Lions fans might not like it, but they're not generally a bunch of thugs. It's not like wearing it in Philly or Oakland.

Why are the Cincinnati Reds wearing green uniforms tonight, with a shamrock? Is St. Patrick's Day always in September in southwest Ohio?

They will display any kind of uniforms for the purpose of making more money selling uniforms. There are SOME fans who think that they have to have ANY kind of uniform that the Reds ever wore. Most white people look good in black. So watch the Reds wear black jerseys just so that they can MAKE MORE MONEY! MLB teams make most of their money from tickets sales and uniform sales. So that is the REAL reason the Reds are wearing green uniforms tonight and calling it ST. Pats Day. Because there will be avid Reds fans that will have to buy those green uniforms.
