Do most white people consider themselves superior to other races?
The problem is that they don't realise it.Most of them will tell you that they don't. But privilege is a tricky, blinding thing. Had you asked the question "Do non-white people realise how much whites are constantly discriminating against them?" then you would have had many an interesting answer. The defensiveness in the answers above is already something to go by, mind you.It's really in the very simple things.I have a friend, a white male, who thinks any work I show him elicits that I want his 'advice' on it. I don't see him doing that with other people we know in our design school over past year or so that I've known him. But he does it with me. As a result, I try less and less to show him any of my work. I always thank him for his 'friendly' advice because whenever he decides to give me this 'advice', because it's true that I get a bit cross and glare at him a bit when this happens. When he acts as if he can't see how cross I am, I am just relieved that we didn't argue and thank him. And so it continues in a vicious continuum, because I guess he'll reckon I liked his advice.I think this kind of 'overnice-ness' is also one of the strategems of superiority. They either dismiss you if they're really racist, or they are overly kind and nice and ginger and generous with you. [Edit: Of course this 'over-niceness' is like neo-tokenism, because he first forced his advice on me, and then he's being overly nice that I glared at him, instead of getting the message that I can ask for help when I need it, and that I'd rather be friends on a more genuine rather than "give and take" relationship.]I am in a school full of white people, and the easiest way to get their attention to me or get them to know me better is to talk about the country I come from, even if it's about the most mundane thing. This kind of constant reminder that makes the 'white perspective' is some kind of 'default' way to look at things is what is so exhausting. I have been in the opposite situation too: in a class full of brown people with one or two white exchange kids. Why are White people so obsessed with themselves?
What decade do you live in sweetie . I'm sure there are still people out here who are ignorant enough to still harbor these feelings and beliefs . But stereotyping white people is no better . You don't know all whites or all of anyone so please don't lower your self to the level of those who you dislike for acting this way you speak of .
Why do some people (especially white) seem to think that blacks dwell on the issue of slavery?
I can't remember the last time I discussed slavery outside of school. Further, all of the black people in my personal network (former college classmates, neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, etc.) aren't asking for hand-outs from the government. We work hard for our paychecks and expect respect from all people we encounter. Most of us don't want reparations, don't consider Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson our leaders, and aren't racist. Why do some people have a problem with seeing us as individuals? I don't care who answers this question, and rude comments will be promptly reported. I am not making any sweeping generalizations about any group, but I am merely making a statement based on observations and the multitude of questions on here aimed at black folk.
Why do some white people think they're so tough because they own a gun they hardly know how to use?
This reminds me of high school: The stupid drunk guys would always start fights while those of us who could really do damage never fought because we knew it was foolish for no reason. I think the same is with gun owners those of us who are responsible and intelligent know we have to train and practice but you will never see us draw on you unless it is the last thing you see.

And the answer is HELLLL NO! I did not enslave you, you were never a slave, your parents were never slaves, your grand parents were never slaves. You have never been to Africa, hence you are NOT african-american, just american. Shanequa, and LeBron, are NOT african names! There are more opportunities for black people nowadays than white people, and STILL, they are way behind the curve. It is not society, the government or anyone but yourselves keeping you down. You claim that "You have been here for 400 yrs bc you were dragged from Africa" Just stop making excuses, get educated and better yourself. How come Asian people as a whole have been here for 1-2 generations and they own a store or business, yet some blacks claim they have been here 400yrs and they have nothing but welfare and living in the projects? Again, this is only targeted to black people who have it "out" for white people.
